From day one of me enquiring about the doors, quotes, quick responses and information right up until the day before installation, it has been a pleasure to use this company.
They are very efficient, and after installation left everything clean and tidy. I am very pleased with my doors and would definitely recommend them. I have had two separate installations and both an outstanding service.

Polar bear windows were professional from first quotation through to having the windows installed. The rep, Jim, wasn't at all pushy and listened to what we wanted, and gave good options for places where we needed something different to the original design. Fantastic communication with Lily & Rosie; with emails explaining every stage of the process and everything was done within the time frames stated. The fitting team, George & James were polite, tidy, efficient and professional. Many thanks Polar bear for our new fantastic windows.

Prompt, competent and quick

Excellent company to deal with. Prompt and polite response to my quotation request. Very competitive pricing and on installation day the installer was also polite and friendly. His work ethic was to be admired, on the coldest day of the year so far! The windows themselves are of very good quality and thermally efficient. It makes a pleasant change not to have to have the heating cranked up all the time.
All in all a very good result.

Don't use this company. I feel I had a horrendous experience - its took them 4 months to install two windows including once turning up unannounced.

They did try and rectify their blunders, including their parent company Britannia Windows but they were disorganised to put it politely. Other issues like they did not checking the windows had arrived in their "warehouse" the day before agreed installation date and not notifying me until I called them.

I had a new porch installed yesterday. The whole process from quotation to installation went very smoothly. Communications with Polar Bear were very good as they send frequent emails to keep you up to date with progress. The installers were friendly and efficient and left the site clean and tidy.

Glenn is very professional and exerted absolutely no pressure to get a sale. He was very helpful in finding out exactly our requirements and explained every step of the way while we were choosing a door from a very wide selection. Highly recommended.

Polar Bear in general and Jim in particular are always really helpful! Had a lot of windows to replace, with some build work, all went smoothly, any kinks ironed out immediately. Had Polar Bear back for a smaller Round 2 and same experience. Haven't gone ahead with the replacements yet but no doubt will do! Working through the finer points, all of which Jim had a helpful opinion on. For advice and handholding, Polar Bear have it. For delivery, Polar Bear have it - they're just a great bunch with a great ethos and product.

For context, I generally don’t write reviews and could count on one hand the negative reviews I’ve ever left.

However, we feel so let down by Polar Bear that I would be remiss if I didn't give feedback on what we’ve had to go through. I haven’t written out the whole sorry story but below are bullet points of nearly everything that went wrong.

We have several friends all undertaking work on their properties who we have warned to avoid them.

Note: Some issues were caused by PB’s supplier and bad weather (e.g. delays on getting the house rendered). We do not and have never blamed PB for these issues. The delays and let downs were mostly caused by bad communication with us and the engineers.

- PB Didn’t communicate properly with us or their team throughout, leading to further problems which could have been easily avoided.

- Consistently turned up at the wrong time without ringing ahead despite us making this simple request every time. This led to missed appointments and again, lots of wasted time.

- When engineers did turn up they were missing parts or didn’t know how much work they were meant to be undertaking as this had not been communicated to them. Apparently, this is a common issue according to one of them I spoke to.

On one occasion, the engineers turned up at the wrong time and were missing parts because the office had not given them a piece of paper explaining what was needed. They then left claiming that they would come back to complete the job the same day or ring the same day to arrange a new visit. I should point out we were months into waiting for the work to be completed and apparently it ‘wasn’t worth coming back’ that day. They didn’t come back, no one called for over a week

- Engineers didn’t seem to know how to install the French doors. A day or so after they installed them the entire Eurolock slid out of the frame as it had not been secured properly with a simple bolt. Thankfully, this happened whilst the door was locked otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to leave the property unattended for the 3 days it took to fix the issue.

- Workmen came around to finish work without Polar Bear informing us. It was only when we spoke to the engineers who had come to try and fix other issues that we discovered this. We had left our gate bolted and they did not complete some of the work because surprisingly they couldn’t access the rear of the house. Again, no one thought to ring ahead and book this work in as it would have been a simple matter of leaving the gate on the bolt.

- We are doing work on the rest of the house and are therefore using rooms for storage. We had to repeatedly move our belongings out the way to make way for engineers who turned up and failed to complete simple jobs causing delays on our other building work.

- Engineers would make guarantees that someone would contact us when they left having not completed the work. This didn’t happen.

- At one point Polar Bear disappeared and ceased communication for a whole month. We assumed at this point they had forgotten about us and the work would never be completed.

- We both run our own businesses, my wife constantly had to take time off work to be at home to meet engineers who turned up at the wrong time or in one case not at all. This impacted our income when money was tight.

- PB Didn’t take responsibility for the issues they caused and instead blamed 3rd parties, some issues were caused by their supplier but most were not.

- PB avoided the simple courtesy of offering us a reduction in price due to the multiple issues they caused. I lost count of the amount of times we were told ‘it is against company policy to offer a reduction’. It took nearly 2 months to get a response from the mysterious ‘head office’ who are apparently in charge of this and when we did get a reduction it was pathetic. Nowhere in our contract did it state we were not entitled to compensation. They are very fast and efficient to take money but apparently unable to respond to simple emails.

- The reason for the delay in giving us a reduction became apparent when the work was finally completed as Polar Bear then insisted on payment within 7 days otherwise they would rescind the small reduction in price. The offer could have been made immediately but Polar Bear wanted to avoid any chance for negotiation.

Extremely positive experience with Polar Bear Windows, from initial sales, installation and after care. Everyone I dealt with has been friendly, trustworthy and professional. Their price was the most reasonable and I did not feel pressured at all. I will be returning for any future needs.
