Peugeot E208 plenty of battery health faults
Had my Peugeot e208 two years and four months. I've only covered
4500miles and had FULL service.
Peugeot keep telling me my battery is in POOR condition and needs a "long" run.
I feel this is a very poor car with this fault after so little use.
When I can I plan to go back to straight petrol (not hybrid).
Never had trouble like this in my 130+ petrol cars.
Do Not Buy Peugeot Electric Cars
Do Not Buy Peugeot Electric Cars – Extremely Disappointed
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with my Peugeot e-208 and the after sales service I have received.
My car is relatively new, but it has developed a serious charging problem. It will not charge using standard chargers and will only charge using fast chargers. This has been extremely inconvenient and expensive, as I have had to use fast chargers every other day for the last three months.
I contacted Charters Peugeot in Aldershot in July to have the issue investigated. Unfortunately, I was told that they had no appointments available because their engineers were very busy. I eventually managed to get an appointment on 2 September. After carrying out the diagnostics, I was told that a part needed to be ordered. I was also charged for the diagnostic work.
The most frustrating part is that, to this date, I still have no clear information about when the required part will arrive or when my car will actually be repaired.
I was also told that this type of issue is apparently quite common with Peugeot electric vehicles. If Peugeot is aware that this is a recurring problem, I would expect them to have an effective process in place to deal with these faults quickly and support customers who are left without normal charging facilities.
I have now been dealing with this problem for around three months and have had to pay significantly more for fast charging during this period. I believe Peugeot should seriously consider reimbursing customers for the additional charging costs caused by a known vehicle fault.
For a relatively new electric vehicle, this is simply not the level of reliability or customer service I expected.
I am very disappointed with Peugeot and the way this issue has been handled. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering buying a Peugeot electric vehicle carefully researches the charging reliability and after-sales support before making a purchase.
I hope Peugeot will take responsibility for this issue, provide a clear repair date and consider compensating me for the additional charging costs I have incurred over the past three months.
⭐ 1 Star
⭐ 1 Star – Over 3 months and my car still hasn’t even been properly diagnosed
Extremely disappointing experience with Peugeot.
My car suddenly stopped working due to an electrical/electronic fault. It became completely unresponsive, and I could not even properly unlock or open it. The car was taken to Peugeot for inspection and repair over three months ago.
To this day, the fault still has not been properly diagnosed.
The most frustrating part is the completely inconsistent information I have been given. At one point, I was told they were experiencing a shortage of staff. On another occasion, I was told that my car had been put in for inspection. However, when I followed up and asked what had been found, I was then told that the car had not actually been inspected.
How is it acceptable for a car to remain with Peugeot for more than three months without even identifying what is wrong with it?
I completely understand that some electrical faults can be complicated and may take time to diagnose. However, more than three months without a proper inspection or a clear diagnosis is simply unacceptable.
I have been left without my car for this entire period and have had to repeatedly chase Peugeot just to receive basic information — and even then, I have been given conflicting answers.
I expected a professional service and clear communication from Peugeot. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
After more than three months, I am simply asking Peugeot to properly inspect my car, clearly explain what the fault is, what needs to be done to fix it, and provide a realistic timeframe for the repair.
This level of service is extremely disappointing and needs to be addressed urgently.
If there is 0 star I will give it

So got a 5008 gt 3 years ago dealership said we will contact you back erm I called them after all false promises 3 years on what’s changed looking a new 5008 gt for 2026 booked in test drive got told car not in dealership this was after looking and sitting in it apparently they couldn’t find it in a showroom only big enough to hold 6 cars and sat inches from salesman’s desk got a call to say it belonged to a customer so no test drive so my wife put on Peugeot website booked a test drive got a call from dealer ship arlingtons Peugeot ashington northd same dealership same car was told didn’t belong to any one come test drive.? So then phoned Peugeot care line to be told speak to our dedicated disabled hotline they transferred the call to Vauxhall so done some checking they don’t have a dedicated team for disabled people we did test drive the 3008 but don’t fit wheel chair and car doors don’t open wide enough for us inc my 8yr old disabled daughter but sales very pushy we told sales not suitable but they kept asking anyways.our Peugeot has had 5 services in 3 years only supposed to have 3 last service lasted 2 weeks car wanted another service when you buy one they claim you get 54mpg yeah ryte more like 12 to 33 on a good day we filled up in amble car stated 350miles before empty done under 80 nearly empty.? Filled up rothbury shell diesel car stated 550miles either something wrong with fuel or it’s the car Avoid at all cost not worth a migrain.
Avoid Peugeot at all costs!!
If I could rate this company minus I absolutely would. My wife’s Peugeot 3008 just stopped working and wouldn’t turn on. This was labelled as an immobiliser fault and a part would need to be ordered from Peugeot. We’ve waited 13 weeks for the part to arrive, in the meantime have suffered financially due to us having a new born baby and my wife on maternity pay. They advised they’d arrange a courtesy car which still hasn’t been sorted, despite promises it would. Having a young baby without transport is incredibly difficult especially with the need for doctors or hospital appointments, all of which they are aware of and just seem to have no care at all. I’ve had confirmation today that the part has not fixed the problem so it looks like this will go on even longer. I’ve had an open complaint with Peugeot who are absolutely useless. You can never speak to the person dealing with your complaint as they are never available, and when you mention names they say they’ve never heard of that person and it’s someone else. They are avoiding at all costs dealing with me now, and I honestly think this company needs investigating.
Shocking customer care
I don't normally leave bad reviews or publicly complain about companies, but after the way my recall case has been handled, I feel people should be aware of my experience with Peugeot.
My 2018 Peugeot 5008 broke down in August 2025, only one month after having a full service and MOT. The car had only done around 30,000 miles when the camshaft chain snapped, causing further engine damage. I was initially quoted around £2,500 for repairs.
After checking my VIN, I discovered that Peugeot had issued a recall in July 2025 relating to the camshaft chain being the wrong size. We hadn't even received the recall letter at that point.
From there, the experience has been nothing short of shocking.
I was told Peugeot would not help with recovery costs or provide a courtesy car, so I had to pay for another recovery truck to get the vehicle to a Peugeot dealership.
For the next five months, I constantly phoned Peugeot and Stellantis trying to get answers. I was repeatedly told to wait for a case handler to contact me, yet I received virtually no callbacks. I was passed between departments, had calls disconnected, dealt with multiple case handlers and even had cases closed without anyone properly speaking to me.
Meanwhile, my life was completely disrupted. I had to buy another car just to get to work, while still paying finance on a Peugeot that was unusable. My ex-wife also had to get another car, and family trips had to be cancelled because we could no longer transport all five children as the Peugeot was our seven-seater.
Eventually, after months of chasing, I was told I had to pay over £800 for the dealership to strip the engine down and produce a report before Peugeot would even decide whether the failure was connected to their recall.
After exhausting every other option, I had no choice but to pay it.
The engine was due to be stripped down on 11 August 2026, and I was told the report would take a day or two. Weeks later, I am still chasing for updates.
To make matters worse, while the car has been sitting at the dealership for such a long period, the inside has developed mould, including my children's car seats. Nobody contacted me to tell me about this or explain what was happening to my vehicle.
The worst part of this whole experience has been the complete lack of communication, ownership and care. I understand investigations can take time, but leaving a customer without a vehicle for months, forcing them to constantly chase updates, passing responsibility between companies and offering virtually no support is completely unacceptable.
This situation has caused huge financial pressure, disruption to my family and serious stress over the past year.
I am now seeking legal advice and will be demanding answers regarding the way this entire case has been handled.
I would personally never recommend Peugeot based on my experience. I expected much better from such a large company, especially when dealing with a vehicle failure involving a component that was subject to a manufacturer recall.
If you're considering buying a Peugeot, I would strongly advise thinking about not only the car itself, but also what level of support you may receive if something goes seriously wrong.
Appalling at every turn.
We bought an e3008 on finance 9 months ago. A catalogue of problems has meant that, of those 9 months, the car has been with Peugeot being fixed for a total of 16 weeks so far. Currently it has been with Peugeot for 11 weeks, undriveable, with no sign of resolution. We have been provided with a petrol courtesy car rather than an EV, which has so far cost us £700 in fuel over the 11 weeks instead of the £30/month we pay for our home charge package. Peugeot refuses to cover this - 'it's not something we do' - and refuses to provide an EV because 'there isn't one available'....what, in the whole of the UK, for 11 weeks? We have begun the rejection process via our finance company but in the meantime staff are evasive and, in many cases, rude at every turn (central customer care hung up when we told them the resolution (or complete lack thereof) to our complaint was unsatisfactory). We are stuck in a situation that is in absolutely no way our fault and yet we are hundreds of pounds out of pocket and Peugeot simply doesn't care. Avoid Peugeot at all costs.
Indefinite wait to get our motorhome back lost our summer holiday …
Please can someone from Peugeot respond I have a 2023 motorhome based on a Peugeot boxer motorhome less than 6000 miles on it which has had trouble from the outset. We Purchased brand new.
It is currently in for warranty work and after waiting patiently for over 7 weeks have now been informed by your motorhome department that there is now no date even available as to when the new required ECU will enter production this is completely unacceptable. We were told 4-5 weeks initially but now to be told it’s an indefinite wait is just totally unacceptable. I have just contacted your customer care line who are unwilling to open a complaint and wished me good luck in filing a complaint.
I am now going to loose £2000 pounds in booked site fees. This is not even the most important part as due to Peugeots inept parts department my Family will loose our summer holiday which is irreplaceable ….
Somebody must be able to look into this matter and firm up a date but apparently I am informed I must wait patiently indefinitely.
You should be ashamed of the entire process ……
Warranty not honoured
Only put 1 star as couldn't put anything less.
Shambles of a Customer Service Drot and the published paintwork warranty is not honoured
The customer help line and complaint…
The customer help line and complaint departmant are not helpful. I have a new car from them and it wouldn't start as there were manufacturer problems with the locking system which drained the baterry and the car wouldn't start in the morning or after not been in use for 4 hrs. I had to keep caling recovery. The customer care were very slow to respond and not helpful . To book the car for repair you have to wait weeks. The warrenty is no good if they don't sort out the problems swiftly and just make execuses.
Warrantees are pointless if you don't have the parts!
I wish I had read these reviews before we got a new 208 on lease. We got the car just over 3 months ago and for 6 weeks now it has been at the dealer.
Warrantees are great in theory, but when Peugeot UK doesn't have the parts to honour their warrantees they're a bit pointless. We need a new gearbox due to a defect (bad enough in its own right), but they don't have one they can replace it with and as things stand, they have no idea when they will have one.
Their Customer Care team are next to useless - I just get told different stories and get lied to. The dealer is good, but when they can not get hold of the parts there is not a lot they can do.
Poor quality cars, awful customer service - will never buy a Peugeot again! Which is a shame as the car itself is lovely.
My brand new E5008 decided to blow its coolant pipe.
My brand new E5008 decided on day 4 and with less than 200 miles to blow its coolant pipe spilling all its lovely coolant on my drive and all over the engine bay. One RAC call out late and a zip tied pipe with water now acting as coolant I was hoping for a swift repair from Peugeot. No space in any dealership for about 100 miles until June. Called Peugeot UK customer service who said they need 5 days to call round the dealerships to find availability which I had already done to which they said they have to anyway. Called me back the next day confirming what I already knew and said I now had to book my car in to one in June and that’s all they could do. Asked to speak to a manager about getting me a courtesy car and one hasn’t called back. Was informed a courtesy car is only issued once the dealership has confirmed the fault. So I have to wait nearly a month to get the car booked in and a courtesy car issued if ones available. Customer service basically washing their hands of me, no dealership will to help and a brand new car sat on my driveway doing nothing. Incredibly bad customer service ! #peugeotUK
Shocking experience with Peugeot
Our Peugeot e-208, which was less than 2 years old, completely broke down on the side of a dual carriageway with a major electric fault and became undriveable instantly. For a car of this age, that is unacceptable and honestly quite concerning from a safety perspective.
To make matters worse, the earliest a Peugeot dealership could even look at the vehicle was over a month away. Peugeot Customer Services were completely unhelpful and seemed perfectly happy to leave us without a usable car for that entire period with no proper solution offered.
The most frustrating part is the total lack of accountability. Peugeot Customer Services simply pass responsibility onto the franchise dealerships, while the dealerships say it’s an issue for Peugeot Customer Services to deal with. As the customer, you just get bounced around endlessly while nobody takes ownership.
Avoid at all costs.
Excellent dealership support, terrible Peugeot UK support.
Excellent dealership support, but Peugeot UK customer service is extremely poor – important advice for Motability customers
I wanted to share my experience as a Motability customer affected by a known fault with my vehicle.
Firstly, I want to recognise my local dealership, Howard’s of Yeovil, who were excellent throughout. In particular, Sales Manager Tom and Showroom Manager Lloyd went above and beyond. They kept me informed, were honest about the situation, and did everything they could to support me. It was clear they were dealing with a wider issue outside of their control, and their professionalism really stood out.
Unfortunately, my experience with Peugeot UK was the complete opposite.
My vehicle developed a known fault relating to the door locking system and ECU communication, which appears to be affecting multiple vehicles. Despite sending several emails to Peugeot UK, I received no response at all — no acknowledgement, no update, nothing.
For a manufacturer to ignore customers experiencing known faults is extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
What I want to highlight, particularly for other Motability customers, is this:
Do not assume the first solution offered to you is your only option.
In my case, I was initially told that ending my agreement early would involve charges and potential penalties. However, after challenging this and raising a formal complaint, the outcome changed significantly. I was:
* released from my agreement early
* not charged any termination fee
* and received a pro-rata refund of my advance payment
This was the correct and fair outcome, as the issue was due to a mechanical fault and not something I had caused.
I am aware that other customers in the same situation have not been given the same information and are paying fees unnecessarily, simply because they were not told they could challenge it.
My advice to anyone in a similar situation:
* work closely with your dealership — they are often your best point of support
* raise a formal complaint with Motability if you are affected by a known fault
* ask for your case to be escalated to a manager or senior complaints handler
* do not accept termination fees or penalties without questioning them
* ask about your right to a pro-rata refund of your advance payment
There is a clear disconnect between the excellent service provided by dealerships like Howard’s of Yeovil and the lack of communication and accountability from Peugeot UK.
Customers deserve transparency, consistency, and proper support — especially when dealing with known faults that are outside of their control.
Appalling Peugeot Service
Bought my E-2008 5 months ago, it is now in its 3rd month of being in the garage.
The dashboard screen would randomly turn off while driving, was in for a month going back and forth with technical in France until they finally decided to replace the screen. Picked up the car and functions were missing, could only get it back in 2 weeks later and it has been in ever since. No updates from the garage unless I chase, no help from customer service.
I formally rejected the vehicle with the Peugeot Sale branch in Manchester but they refused to accept the rejection and lied about what actions they were taking and have now stopped responding.
I have been waiting for call backs for days from the customer service case handler and manager, but no one seems to want to respond. I'm now trying to go through the motor ombudsman or court.
Service centers are not ready for electric cars in the uk. Months waiting for your car even with a small easy repair.
Peugeot E3008:I just want to share my experience with Perrys so others can be informed.
My car completely broke down—everything was dead—and the RAC wrongly diagnosed it as a dead battery and replaced it. The car then broke down another two times, so I started doing my own research and identified the problem as a faulty door module.
I now strongly suspect that the original battery didn’t actually need to be replaced—it was just very flat. The door module was incorrectly showing the doors as open, which kept the interior lights on and drained the 12-volt battery.
After a five-week wait, once Perrys finally looked at the car, they confidently diagnosed it as a battery problem again and ordered yet another battery. As the car is still under warranty, I assume Peugeot is paying for two unnecessary battery replacements. Perrys didn’t seem concerned about that at all.
Because no spare parts are kept in stock, everything has to be ordered from France. It took a week for the battery to arrive, and then another two days just to get the car back into the workshop.
Now that the battery has been replaced again, I fully expect them to say the door module needs replacing next—which was the issue I identified from the start. That will likely mean another week waiting for the part and more delays getting it fitted. I was even told they “work in steps,” meaning they replace parts one by one rather than addressing the root cause, even if it’s already known.
On top of all this, Motability covered the cost of renting an electric car for me during these five weeks, which must have cost a significant amount of money. I strongly suspect that because Motability is paying, private customers are given preferential treatment, while Motability customers are pushed to the back of the queue. That’s just my suspicion based on this experience.
If you are disabled and already struggling just to get by, I would seriously think twice before buying an electric Peugeot. This has been one of the most stressful experiences I’ve had.
In my view, the system is simply not ready for electric cars. The people working at service centres seem to be ticking boxes rather than looking for real solutions or ways to speed up and streamline the process. As long as Peugeot and Motability are paying, they seem happy—even if it takes months to fix something that could be resolved in under an hour. The door module is a simple component—just a few screws and a plug—but since it’s under warranty, we’re not allowed to touch it. So, thousands of pounds are wasted, and customers are left waiting up to four months, as I’ve seen in some of the Facebook reports, for their cars to be fixed.
Going through a horrendous time trying…
Going through a horrendous time trying to get Peugeot to fix my car that is under warranty. Do not buy a car from these people because once you do, there will be no aftercare and your warranty will mean nothing.
Conflicting information regarding recall and repair coverage
I am currently dealing with an unresolved issue involving my Peugeot 3008 1.5 BlueHDi, which was taken to an authorised dealership (Arnold Clark, Glasgow) following a recall.
After the vehicle was inspected, a fault was identified and a repair quotation was provided by the dealership.
I then contacted Peugeot Customer Services and was initially informed that recall-related guidelines would apply and that the dealership had been advised accordingly.
However, I have since received a different response stating that no contribution would be made and that certain work would be considered diagnostic and not covered.
This has resulted in a lack of clarity, as the information provided by the dealership and Peugeot Customer Services does not appear to be consistent.
In addition, the vehicle has been at the dealership since 19 January, leaving me without its use for an extended period while I continue to incur ongoing costs.
I am currently trying to resolve this matter through the appropriate channels and would welcome a clear and consistent position so that the issue can be resolved fairly.
Buyer beware - you have been warned!
We hope this review will help save others from making the same mistake we did. Just over a year ago, the AdBlue pump on our 5008 failed and was replaced at a cost of £1,200. Earlier this week, it failed again. Despite the garage assuring us that such a part should last for years, it has failed after little more than a year and now needs to be replaced once more.
Our local main dealership cannot inspect the car for almost a month, during which time the vehicle cannot be used, and Peugeot have already decided, irrespective of the garage’s findings, that they will not contribute towards the cost of replacement.
For two reasons, we will never consider buying a Peugeot again: first, access to a dealership for service or repair is more difficult than getting an appointment with a GP, and that’s saying something. Second, when a part fails that should last for years, it is reasonable to expect that the company that fitted it would be willing to offer at least some modest contribution towards its replacement. Buyer beware: Peugeot is not a brand that cares about its customers.
Customer Care is an Alien Concept to Peugeot
I am having a problem with a firmware update. It will not load and say it's incompatible with the car, despite being downloaded from Peugeot.
I visited my dealer and was told this 'fault' would not be covered by the warranty and it could be very expensive to investigate.
I raised 2 complaints with Peugeot, the first about the faulty download and the second asking that they authorise the dealer to investigate the problem.
After 10 days I had a phone call saying software problems are not covered by the warranty and they will not pay. They just kept repeating this mantra and would not accept there was a problem with either the software or the car if it would not upload.
Absolutely no concept of 'customer care'. We've caused a problem but expect you to pay the fix it seems to be the attitude.
