Good Hotel VERY BAD AVOIDING REFUNDS
Stayed at the Oyo Times Square back in January, the Hotel itself if a perfect position, stayed in Room 502 which was warm and comfortable, beds made everyday and towels.
BUT it is now so very disappointing that after numerous emails they claim not to find our booking and as of yet have not refunded us the deposit - shameful

I was in there 1-26-2026 -1-27-2027 I didn't last but 30 minutes in that room because they have roaches it was disgusting the tub was disgusting the bathroom was disgusting the room was disgusting the bed was disgusting it looked like that they just didn't change the sheets just pull the covers up and I want to start a class action lawsuit so if anybody on here know how to start that and if y'all want to start it with me let's do it
Don't stay at OYO
We stayed at the Dallas OYO due to the weather last weekend. It's a horrible place, the room was filthy and smelled like cigarettes, roaches, doors didn't lock properly. Booked it through VRBO which I can't believe would allow a business to be on their site when they have such a bad reputation. Below is a summary from the BBB compliants

Security Deposit Never Refunded | Charged Extra Without Consent
I stayed at OYO Times Square, New York from Dec 23 to Dec 26. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
At check-in, the reception demanded a $100 security deposit. I offered to pay cash, which was refused. I was told they only accept cards. When my card was charged, I noticed they deducted $134 instead of $100. The staff casually claimed this extra amount was a “service charge” and said this was “normal.” I have stayed in multiple hotels across the US and have never encountered this practice.
It has now been over one month, and no security deposit has been refunded.
Attempts to resolve this:
Emails: No response at all
Phone calls: Staff repeatedly claim they have no record of my booking, despite having a valid booking reference, and then disconnect the call
Agoda support: Agoda confirmed they attempted to contact the property multiple times but received no response from the hotel
The front desk staff were hostile and intimidating, not helpful. Any question about the refund was met with dismissive behavior, raised voices, and bullying tactics rather than customer service.
What makes this worse is that after my stay, I found numerous similar complaints online describing:
Inflated “security deposits”
No refunds
Property denying bookings afterward
Complete lack of accountability
In my experience, this hotel’s deposit handling appears deliberately opaque and misleading. I strongly recommend avoiding this property unless you are comfortable risking your money and spending weeks chasing a refund that may never come.
I am posting this review to warn future guests and to document my experience publicly, since private communication has failed entirely.

Oyo now owns motel 6, and both snakes me completely- paid online to Oy, but the motel won't honor the reservation, though it shows up. Calling several times, and just given run around, and completely scammed out of a night, as well as eating a day I was supposed to be traveling. SCAM

This experience with OYO has been devastating and completely unacceptable.
My fiancée accidentally booked a room for the wrong date. She realized the mistake immediately and called within five minutes of booking to correct or cancel it. This was our very last money—we will have less than $20 tomorrow—and this booking was meant to keep us from being without a place to stay.
Despite calling right away, we were told no refund would be issued.
What makes this even worse is that the confirmation email clearly states “Free cancellation before the 24th at 9:00 AM.” We contacted them well within that window, yet OYO refused to honor their own written policy.
This isn’t just bad customer service—it’s cruel. A simple correction or refund would have prevented us from being left with nowhere to go. Instead, we were met with scripted responses and zero compassion.
Mistakes happen. Policies exist for a reason. Ignoring your own cancellation terms while taking money from people who are already struggling is not okay.
I strongly caution anyone considering booking with OYO: if anything goes wrong, even immediately, do not expect help or fairness—no matter what their email says.

The worst hotel experience I've ever had. I made a rerservation and when I showed up there were no rooms. I had to drive through the dark to find another hotel. Then, they dishonestly marked my reservation as "checked in" and "checked out." It has taken me 3 months to get a simple refund. Avoid.

I downloaded the app, it was offering a free night but every time I go to the free night it wasn't available then it was $80+ so I ended up getting a text for $25 so I was careful, read all the details it said it included the fees. Which fees and resort fees are Not the same. After seeing I had until 9am to cancel I booked it and then it shows you that it was going to be $50.96 resort fees still and $21 for parking. So, I was within the time is was in green that I could still cancel so I did and now they are telling me it is a non-refundable. I screenshot everything. Called 3x and 2x got conveniently disconnected. Horrible customer service yes it was only $28 but its the point...

If I could rate a negative review, I would! Please do not book through this site. Had a hotel booked out of state. Walked in, there were hookers, drugs, crime, filth and homeless all over the hotel. We left to go to another place. OYO did not care! Called them 5 times with the same BS excuse that the property manager denied the reasons mentioned above. This is a fraudulent website, They charged me twice even after I cancelled the booking within 5 minutes, Room was supposed tobe 133.78, they charged twice $134. I called the hotelm and they said that was not their website, there was no reservation. I wenton line and cancelled the double reservation and received a confirmation email. I was charged twice and when i asked for a refund they wrote back I did not qualify for a refund ( evem though website has a refund policy for 24 hours cancellation and It was 5 months before the date

After having an absolutely horrible experience at the property, this company refuses to refund my money. If I could place a 0 star I would. Their basic and error heavy app resets your choice of dates every time you look at the details and go back to the booking chapter, the same one you used to get to the details. Their mistake caused me to make a booking the same day at a motel I was already staying at so I paid to stay twice on the same day. They slipped in the non refundable despite the fact that I immediately cancelled and changed the dates and booked for the following day. I did not get any help from the foreign customer service department when the employee had no idea what I was talking about and basically said that the booking wasn’t their, yet it was and they didn’t do anything to change the situation or even offer a reason to justify their apps issues. Don’t use them unless you want to risk being scammed since they took more money than I spent due to a cancellation fee which wasn’t mentioned either before I cancelled. TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!

So Oyo hotels and motel 6 both same app have stole money for 2 rooms that I did not get and had to turn around and pay for twice at full price. First time motel 6 booked got there no rooms available called and called got a run around and they made every excuse to keep the money and it was after speaking to the front desk and verifying and they would not even try to find another location. Second time there was no reservation in the motel 6 system and after being on the phone 8 times they could not fix it and told me it would be 48 hr for a member of escalations team to call me about a refund. They never did but emailed me some BS about they could not refund me because of there policy (LIE) said it was voided but transaction still on my account no money returned. This company steals lies and makes up there own way to keep your money. I will never use them again and Priceline is been reliable to me. Oyo is people who barley speak english who will take your money without providing services
