My experience with the NACA Homebuyer Program so far has been incredibly valuable and educational. Going into the process, I knew I wanted to become a homeowner, but I didn’t fully understand how much preparation goes into presenting yourself as a financially prepared and responsible buyer.

My counselor, Livier Tinoco, has been extremely patient and has taken the time to walk me through each step of the process. She has helped me understand what it really means to build and curate a complete file for an underwriter—not simply gathering documents, but understanding what those documents say about my financial habits and readiness for homeownership.

One of the most valuable parts of the experience has been reviewing my spending and financial activity over the past six months and learning to look at it from an underwriter’s perspective. The process has helped me become much more intentional about my finances and understand how budgeting, savings, payment history, and everyday spending habits can demonstrate that I am prepared to take on the responsibility of owning a home.

I also appreciate that NACA is not presented as some shortcut to buying a home. It is a real program with a real process, and you have to be willing to put in the work, stay organized, provide documentation, and understand your finances. What makes the program so valuable is that it helps you identify and strategically navigate the different pathways, requirements, and opportunities available to maximize the benefits of a first-time homebuyer program.

So far, my experience has shown me that the NACA program is absolutely legitimate and that there is real value behind what it offers. More importantly, I feel like I’m not just working toward getting approved for a mortgage—I’m learning how to prepare myself financially to be a successful homeowner. I’m very grateful for Livier’s patience, guidance, and willingness to explain the “why” behind the process, and I’m excited to continue working toward becoming a homeowner.

My husband and I have been working through the NACA homebuying program, and our experience has been encouraging and educational. Buying a home can feel intimidating, especially when you're trying to understand all of the financial requirements and documentation involved, but having a structured process has helped us feel much more prepared.
NACA has encouraged us to take a close look at our finances, stay focused on our goals, and make sure we're truly prepared for homeownership rather than simply rushing into buying a house.
The process does require effort and patience, but we're now getting closer to our goal and becoming increasingly excited about finding the home that's right for us. We appreciate the assistance we've received along the way and the opportunity NACA provides families who are working toward homeownership.
We're looking forward to the next stage of our journey and hopefully being able to call ourselves homeowners very soon!

Since starting this process in March of 2026 it has been an experience. What attracted me to NACA was the fight for the rights of homebuyer and their commitment to the people in securing a place to call HOME.

Patience and diligence is exactly what you need when navigating the home buying process with NACA, but the process has been seamless thus far with our counselor Esme Redman. She has been the most patient and is a very effective communicator. I have felt guided and supported by her the entire process and I feel confident that we will secure the best possible outcome as first time homebuyers and newlyweds! I never thought the home buying process would be a piece of cake, but Esme has made sure we have been abreast with all that we have needed this far. So happy wit the process thus far.

My counselor spent hours (literally) going over everything and making sure I understood the process and what needed to be done in order to purchase a home. It’s a lot of work but it’s not impossible and you have to be ready to put in the work. They don’t judge you by whatever situation your in or your credit and are very understanding!

NACA is a great program and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy a home. My biggest advice is to start gathering your documents early because there can be a lot of paperwork. The timelines can sometimes feel a little inconsistent sometimes you feel like everything is needed tomorrow, and other times you may not hear anything for months. I understand they’re working with a lot of people, but it would be helpful to have clearer guidance upfront on what documents to prepare. There’s also a lot of wet signatures, so having more electronic signature options would make things easier.

That being said, I’ve learned a lot through the program and really appreciate what NACA offers. I wish I had known about it when I was younger, and I hope to be one of the success stories! I also hope they continue creating more opportunities for people in expensive cities like Boston.

I originally engaged with NACA back in 2024. At the time, I stepped away because I realized I wasn't fully ready for the homebuying journey yet. While my counselor back then had some communication flaws, the connection was okay.
Fast forward to 2026. I felt ready, paid my fee, and got back on board. That's when the real issues started. From day one, my new counselor's energy felt off—cold and unenthusiastic. Things quickly spiraled into unprofessionalism. After setting up our next meeting, I called to confirm and was told no appointment existed in the system even though I saw it in my portal. They rescheduled me, and on the day of that meeting, she simply never showed up. No call, no text, just an unread email at 9 PM.
When I called back, I was sent straight to her voicemail, which was ignored. Supervisors ignored my callback requests too. To top it off, they quietly booked another appointment for 9/15 behind my back without checking if I was available. This program treats clients with zero accountability. The communication is completely broken, and leadership does nothing. I am pulling out entirely because this disorganization is unacceptable.

My husband and I just started the NACA home buying process with the Memphis, TN regional office. I must say it has been a manageable experience so far. We are in the paperwork processing phase and it's not as bad as some TikTok reviews state. We are very pleased right now and our counselor has been very helpful with making sure we have all our documents and making sure we hit our deadlines.

The process with NACA has been so easy so far! It does take a while depending on your situation, but you can tell the people who work at NACA really care about the mission and the people that they work with. They want you to ow a home, but they want you to be able to own a home financially. They make sure you are fiscally responsible, able to save and pay a mortgage before you can ever get qualified. That makes me more confident in NACA as a whole, and I'm happy to have heard about them from my friend who bought their first house through them.

My experience with NACA has been really positive so far! The process does require patience, organization, and a lot of documentation, but I appreciate how much they focus on making sure you’re truly financially prepared for homeownership. The payment shock process has also helped me become more disciplined with my finances and confident in what I can comfortably afford. It can feel overwhelming at times, but overall I’m happy I chose NACA and excited to continue my home buying journey!

This whole experience has been a great opportunity. The counselor has been nothing short of amazing. The workshop was very informative. Every part of this experience has been great. Already recommended to friends and family.

At this time I’m actively going through the process of being NACA qualified. The journey so far has been ok. It just takes a lot of time and patience. But, although I have confidence in the end result.

Getting approved for a mortgage with no down payment, no closing costs, and a below-market fixed rate — something I honestly didn't think was possible in this market. The financial counseling also helped me build better saving and budgeting habits going in.

They deliver on something genuinely rare: real affordable homeownership access for buyers who'd otherwise be priced out, with terms you won't find at a traditional bank. Once you're paired with a knowledgeable counselor, they're a great advocate throughout the process.

My wife and I are currently going through the NACA home-buying process, and it has been a genuinely positive experience. NACA’s commitment to helping families achieve affordable homeownership—especially with no down payment, no PMI, and no closing costs—has made a huge difference for us.

Our counselor, Angela Barnett, has been outstanding. She’s knowledgeable, patient, and clear in explaining each step, which has made the entire process much easier to navigate.
We’re still working toward closing, but we’re grateful for the support, guidance, and resources NACA provides. We would confidently recommend NACA to anyone serious about becoming a homeowner and willing to follow the program.

It can feel overwhelming at times, but if you stay committed, provide the requested documentation, and communicate with your Counselor, the process is absolutely worth it.

THE SERVICE IS UNBELIEVABLE!! My counselor Miss Redman is very helpful, knowledgeable, and no non sense. She loves what she does and it's evident. Once I complete my homebuying experience I'm going to canvass to encourage the young adults to purchase their first home through NACA as well.
