Leaders - Bedford Omdömen 

I called Leaders a couple of times to enquire about a property and hopefully get some guidance as this is my first time renting, and spoke to someone called Chloe who was rude and dismissive on both occasions. I also agree with other reviews that they discriminate. No company deserves business with that attitude. Having read some other reviews on here, it seems like I dodged a bullet! Definitely going elsewhere!

Be extremely cautious when looking to rent a property through Leaders.

They will try to persuade you to use their "zero deposit scheme", but beware, because this is not an insurance policy to replace the deposit, it is a membership scheme, run by them, for their benefit and the landlords benefit only. It has a monthly fee, which over the course of a year will ultimately cost almost as much as an upfront deposit, but the tenant will not get any money back at the end of the tenancy, as would be the case with a traditional upfront deposit.

Should the membership scheme pay money to the landlord for any damage or cleaning, the tenant will be required to pay this back to Leaders and will be chased by Leaders for the money.

Leaders administer the membership scheme themselves, so the tenant appears to have no say in whether any claimed damage is genuine and should be paid for. If the tenant did dispute any claims for damage, the terms of the tenancy will state that Leaders will appoint their own preferred independent assessors. The tenant has no choice in who carries out the assessment, and the tenant will also have to pay for the assessment too.

It is a scam, albeit a legal one perhaps. Leaders did not explain the scheme properly and clearly to the potential tenant in this particular case. They used a sales technique to mask the facts and persuade a young person that it would be of benefit to them, when it was in fact quite the opposite.

They were also highly inflexible when it came to agreeing the clauses in the tenancy agreement. The tenant asked for alterations, but these were refused and/or ignored. Leaders were quite happy to make their own alterations though because it suited them and the landlord.

Contacted Leaders today regarding an on going issue and was greeted by Amy Boots Property Manager.
All I can say is thank god I finally got to speak to someone with a brain, what a pleasant, polite and professional person she is. I have phoned Leaders countless times over the last few weeks requesting a property manager to get back to me regarding an issue and sent emails as well, and not one person has bothered to contact me.
Amy has managed to sort out my issue that has been going on for nearly 2 years in the space of 10 min. She is a true asset to Leaders if only the rest of the staff were as helpful and considerate.

I have been looking for a place to live for quite a while before I found Leaders.
With Leaders I went trough the renting process within two days,and a week later was handed over the keys.
I would rate this experience 10/10 and recommend to anyone interested in a quick and smooth move.

Very unprofessional for lettings/property management. They give the go ahead to contractors without the landlords consent then deduct the extortionate over pricing from rent without consent. Underhanded tactics which is with the ombudsman now. Stay away, they even withheld court documents from us which resulted in judgements made which we were unaware of

The communication for the whole process was great. Chloe was great getting us the viewing sorted, and Ben was amazing from the first point of communication. Deifently would recommend these guys, all understanding.
