I have completed my demonstrator Boost Bike conversion.

It was a pleasure. Everything works fine, the wheel build is spot on, learned a few installation techniques along the way, used my existing cassette which required me to use the drive side bolt washer as a spacer to prevent a little chain rub.

Tie wrapped the cable from the battery and used Velcro and buckle wraps on the hub cable to help facilitate easy wheel removal in case of roadside puncture of the rear tyre. I think it works well.

I’ve now had my boost kit fitted to my Montague folding mtb for a couple of weeks. Delivery was pretty much on time and the wheel was very well packaged. Fitting it myself was very straightforward. The resulting overall appearance is very discrete – it doesn’t look like an e-bike. Which is good news as from my own experience e-bikes are a favourite target for thieves.
The riding experience is brilliant. This is power assisted cycling at its best. The power modes are well conceived and give enough flexibility without complex controls or throttles. The wireless display connects quickly and is useful for changing modes and monitoring battery voltage, but everything works fine without it. Eco mode is ideal for giving just enough assistance to take the edge off your effort, whilst boost is great for hills, keeping up with traffic or just going fast for the heck of it. I haven’t used super boost yet as my local terrain is fairly easy. Even in eco mode the motor kick-in at low speed is useful for getting across busy roads or accelerating away from traffic lights.
The great thing is that I still have the riding and handling characteristics of my original bike, and even with the extra weight, riding unpowered is still practical and enjoyable. For me the power levels are just about right. More power would detract from the cycling experience. A waterproof cover for the battery / control unit is perhaps the one thing which is missing, but I’m pretty sure Boost will address this in the future
Nick is very accessible for advice. When I phoned up for information before buying the kit, it was Nick on the other end. Overall, outstanding performance, at a very affordable price, without detracting from the bike’s original handing or appearance.

I had the kit expertly fitted by the Green Machine in Horwich, Greater Manchester.

Great on the flat and low inclines but just doesn’t work with anything steep. (Struggled on trails in the Forest of Dean).

A previous reviewer (Charles Martin) mentioned that a firmware update was on the cards.

This needs to be released as soon as possible.

I received my boost bike kit a couple of weeks ago, and I have been impressed by how well designed this system is. The kit was simple to fit, and works superbly. It has exceeded my expectations and given me back my enthusiasm for riding my bike.

My kit is the 700C wheel, that I fitted to a 25 year old Raleigh hybrid to give it another lease of life.

In riding the bike, the power modes are very well chosen, and I like the eco\normal\boost modes as they have been well chosen to feel quite natural.

The boost kit is as great, its fitted to a road bike and is great.

The kit was delivered quickly and was easy enough to fit, and Nick was very helpful when discussing the product pre and post purchase. When riding along the flat at a reasonable pace the motor kicks in and is fun, however, there are a couple of issues:
- as detailed in some reviews, the motor does not kick in at slow speeds, which is a pain if you live in a very hilly area as i do (and are as out of shape as i am). this is a limitation of the motor - but i understand that a firmware update will be issued to improve the performance with respect to this.
- the top of the battery, where the charger and usb parts are, is not in the least bit waterproof - a little bit of welsh rain got in very easily, i need to think of a way to stop it..
all in all though, a good product that will hopefully help me recover from my knee surgery and get me riding again

Excellent DIY conversion kit. Easy to install - only took one and a half hour including building the wheel. Highly recommended.

Really effective e-bike conversion.
Straight forward to install.
Impressed with modes.
Power is enough to whizz me up 1 miel 8% hill.
Would recommend.

Just a status report on my conversion kit. It’s going really well and I’m loving it. I’m riding to work and back (14 miles round trip) everyday and finding it challenging but the assistance is brilliant. I have recommended it to friends and anyone who will listen. I am over the moon with it and can’t praise it highly enough.

Arrived well within the advertised timeframe, exactly as ordered and described.

Kit received and installed. Installation went smoothly, including my first ever wheel build. First test ride was fun. I’d never ridden an electric bike before and had nothing to compare it to, but I don’t know what more I could want from an electric bike. I could really feel the extra power and it came on and went off smoothly. The bike handles and stops the same as before. The weight I think is only about 3kg higher - now 13.2kg total bike. The USB port on the battery pack will no doubt come in handy for charging the bike lights and my phone on occasion. Life in my 12 year old Specialized Allez road bike yet! I’ve nicknamed my La Vita Boost conversion kit Lance. I like that can easily convert back to a normal road bike and back to electric again - though I’m not sure if I’ll ever want to remove the kit after having ridden with it :) I find now I use a wider number of cycle routes than before - I no longer avoid hills! I even find myself not minding slowing down at junctions, knowing the boost will kick in when I go to accelerate again.

Thanks for you and your team’s work on this product. I’m certain the kit will be successful. For me it has many advantages over outright e-bikes and other conversion kits like the Swytch kit - such as 1) being rear wheel drive like a normal bike, 2) the kit adding no weight to the handlebars, 3) looking better generally including being more stealth. It must be better for the environment than outright e-bikes too - making use of old bikes, shipping in a far smaller box etc.

I was lucky to get one of the first Boost e-bike kits and have since put a few hundred miles on it over a few months. I use it to commute about 27 miles each day along undulating roads.

It is a great piece of kit! It was simple to install (no pedal sensor needed, unlike some other kits), and it works, no fuss. Because I could retro fit it to my bike, I have a bike I love, and a commute I enjoy much more because of the motor.

The price was such that it has already paid for itself in avoided train fares, and helped me lose a few kilos of weight to boot.

The motor is discrete, and many people do not realise my bike is powered now. The kit is also light enough that I don't notice it when riding unpowered.

I use it on the most powerful setting, and that really helps with the hills. I have also found that it makes me feel safer when accelerating from lights in traffic because I am quicker up to my cruising speed.

In terms of battery life, I reckon I should get in excess of 100 miles from 1 charge (that does depend a bit on riding style).

Whenever I've needed to contact the manufacturer, they have always been really helpful and prompt in replying to queries.

I highly recommend the Boost e-bike kit!

Just taken delivery of my La Vita Boost ebike conversion! done on a Ridgeback Epsilon that I bought new for my London commutes 24 years ago and is now retired to the Surrey Hills for holiday riding.
Conversion work was done by Ross Cycles, Caterham and despite many new components for the drive, gearing and braking the whole cost was less than a third of a decent quality new ebike plus the bike fits me like a glove as I have tuned it to my taste over many years.
First few rides feel very intuitive, like a bike plus rather than an electric motorbike. Increased weight comes from the battery, hub and slightly beefier rear wheel only so is very modest.
I like that it works without reference to the blue tooth app if you want to just go. So you cycle and it will kick in as a simple “boost” at variable levels depending on speed and road conditions. For accuracy you should programme the wheel circumference into the app first.
So what’s not to like!

I've had a Lavita conversion since the pre-release test kits were released. It's a great system, discrete and easy to fit. The hub is an improvement on the generic Chinese hubs found online with the cable safely tucked away inside the chainstays and an integrated PAS sensor. I've been so impressed that I started selling them!

I bought a LaVita boost system and had it fitted to my wife’s bike so that she can join me for rides when I go out on my ebike. It works really well, suitably powerful and good range, it has successfully turned the bike into a competent ebike.

The LaVita BOOST kit is an awesome conversion. So simple and transformed my bike, the range is good and it feels very natural to ride. The extra 250w makes a massive difference and means I can go further without breaking a sweat, pulling the tag along is now a breeze. Loved it so much I’ve ordered a second one for my wife’s bike.
