Just energy sucks
This company are horrible on their rates. I was on the phone 3 hours and they did not resolve my issue. Avoid this company they are not worth the hassle and their customer service is horrible. My wife is pregnant and our lights are off because of a mistake they made now I have to wait even though it’s not my fault I’m switching asap.

Scummy sales practices.
Met a salesman at Sam's club trying to entice me to switch to just energy for our electricity.
The guy basically lied to me and deflected my questions, and acted like I was silly for not signing up.
Sucked me in by saying do you want a free gift card. These guys are predatory. Avoid.

Starting to hate them.
I have been with just energy for years, but specifically THIS YEAR something has been off with my bills. In June, my bill was $198. In July, my bill was $308.72, and now my August bill is $444.82. I’ve called them several times and I always get a person of whom I can barely understand, and they tell me that the reason why my bill is this high is because “it is the summer time and it’s just like that”. I was on the nights free plan so that made absolutely no sense to me. I work everyday from 7:30am and I get home around 6:00pm, and I turn off EVERYTHING in my home before work. So how am I using $444 worth of energy? I’m not even home during the day (with all of my lights turned off) and when I come home I’m getting “nights free”. I will be switching to another light company because their rates are fishy and I cannot afford to pay a light bill that is larger than my car note.

We filed a claim about our high bill regarding winter 2022
We filed a claim in April 2023 about our high electricity bill during the winter months of 2022. Our bill had spiked 2 to 3x the normal amount within one month. Not only that, we took a trip out of state for two weeks in December but somehow our bill was higher than ever before. The A/C wasn't even on, no lights were left on inside the house, the only light left on was the porch light which was an LED light. We filed a claim as soon as our meter was switched and our bill has lowered significantly in the past few months. (Mind you, we have called them at least 3 times, and still no updates/ attempts to resolve the issue) Their supervisor told us that this issue would be resolved within 30 to 60 business days but it's been way past the window of time. When we called them again to follow up, they said that they haven't come up with a resolution yet and referred us to Oncor. We called Oncor and they told us they weren't provided any information from Just Energy and they just referred us back to Just Energy. We are really tired of this back-and-forth blaming game. We just want this issue resolved. We are definitely switching because of this hassle.

I would give 0 stars if possible. We signed up at Sam’s club. Turns out instead of the “save the dominion rate they promised it actually it got multiplied by four. And they try to fight you when you want to get out of it. ITS A SCAM

NOT Recommended
I would not recommend using Just Energy. From my experience their contracts are predatory. I ended up paying 2.5x the going rate for natural gas and ended up spending over $100/mo more than I would have had I stayed with my standard provider.
I contacted customer service prior to posting this review and spend over an hour on the phone speaking with multiple agents overseas (likely stationed in Asia). None of them were able to resolve the issue appropriately. Staff was informed that this review would be posted if the problem was not resolved.
After confirming that I was paying hundreds of extra dollars a month, I was however offered a $50 gift card in a poor effort for customer retention.

Expecting A Response from Just Energy
I recently enrolled in your services today, June 18,2023 at Sam's, based on the information provided by Andrew M., a Just Energy Salesman. However, after further consideration and researching your company, I came across numerous reviews that paint a negative picture of your reputation, particularly regarding unjust and dishonest pay rates. I have decided that I am not interested in utilizing your services.
Andrew assured me that I would be able to cancel without incurring any penalties. I sent an email to Just Energy regarding this matter.
Since it’s a new sign up, I am leaving a neutral star rating of 3 with the expectation of being able to cancel without any issues.
I will be updating my review once I hear back from Just Energy.

DONT WASTE TIME OR MONEY!
Along with other people I was told it would stay the same as I currently pay.
Wasted my valuable time being lied to, this company should be shuttttttt down! Got the contract in my email and said .17kw I called the company to rescind as soon as I found out and they tried to sell me at .11 saying I'll be locked in for 20 months and rates will be going up Yada yada.. I just locked in at .09 for 18months a month ago.
The sales people are a joke they try to hurry and get you to fill it out so you get stuck, glad I checked it as soon as i got it.
And ontop of it I just got an email telling me my name isn't on it and no permission for me, they let me sign up for it real quick with my husband's name. Funny.
Don't waste your time or money with this company.

I gave you guys the chance. It's been 8+ months. Every bill I have so far, winter-summer, has been higher than previous carriers. Today I called all numbers listed and ALL OF THEM NOT WORKING. The bills have numbers 866268195 and 8665878674. Those do not work. The email has 8669095678. That doesn't work. The GMB has 8664091167. That doesn't work. How does a business operate without a working number??

After 72 hours $20 late fee...wait disconnection fee
Becareful if u don't have automatic bill pay set up, or need to wait until payday to pay your bill good luck! You will recieve a $20 late fee after 72 hours. During these times of inflation that's exactly how you should treat your customers!

Just Energy Scammed Me at Sams Club!!! I called to cancel my service a month later and they promised my service with them will only stop on my next billing cycle. The phone rep hung up on me until I called back asking to speak with a supervisor!

0 stars. Went to Sam’s club in Annapolis yesterday and a rep asked if I was interested in switching. I said sure I’m interested but I need to review the information. She said okay full this out and we can send over the information. I stopped and told her this looks like a contract. She said it’s information to lock you in on the promo once you are ready. I said okay. Today (one day later) I get a contract and a congrats for being a new member. I have called my electrical supplier who said that they cannot cancel the authorization and warned me that my current contract is significantly better than what Just Energy offered me. They warned me if the authorization goes through I lose the current rate I am grandfathered in. I called just energy to cancel and the lady was great. She said she canceled it but I need to contact both my supplier and justenergy to ensure the authorization does not go through and I lose the rate I am grandfathered in. I have waisted several hours on the phone and on hold to resolve this issue and I’m still not out of the woods. I called Sams club and they are very supportive and are talking to their manager now. It’s unfortunate I am not the only one to have this issue.

Stay away from them, you will get ripped off so bad. My rate was 1.21, when I left and dte at that time was .34.
I didnt pay attention , because was on budget and they lied about the rate. They are such scammers. IF you see them in Sams Club, RUN AWAY and save your money. There rate when I left was 1.21 and dte is .34, such scammers, dont be stupid like me and listen to them, because they flat out LIE!!

I should have read the reviews before starting an account with this company.
They don't care about their customers, they care about how to extract the most money out of you. I went through a hardship all in a span of a few weeks. I lost my job, my car was totaled to the extent that I have to get a new one. I started a new temp job which I explained to them it takes a few weeks to get my first check. They would not work with me on a payment plan, a partial payment, deferred payment or the like. They issued a notice for 3 days before my pay date and would not bend on it. I told them I have a 3 year old here and can not afford to be in the dark. I work from home and can't put my job at jeopardy. They did not care. They said I will just have to get it shut off for 3 days and then they will turn it back on.
Their reps called me and harassed me every day, several times a day about my late payment. I probably asked about 5 different people to notate the account so I don't have to spend 30 minutes explaining to a different person my inability to pay that day. They would all read the same exact speech to me with regard to what they can do, which was nothing. I experienced so much anxiety being transferred from person to person about the same issue, all I wanted was for them to stop calling asking for a payment for something I can't pay at the moment, Yet, they cared nothing of my hardship. I asked if they could at least help me by waiving the late/fee shut off notice fee which is insane and takes me up an additional $30 and they would not.
I eventually had to take out a loan to pay it, and those quick pay loans are 100% APR so I'm paying back double. And then only two weeks later am I now paying yet another bill that i can't afford to rack up more fees on. I have come to realize this is an extra bonus for this company, if they don't work with you then you default and they collect those extra fees monthly. Also, their direct online portal does not work all the time, so if you will pay additional fees to process payment via phone or their auto bill pay website. They also are scripted to tell you to dial 211 for assistance. I can tell you that most organizations that will give assistance during hardships wont do it for this company, they are too small of a company. I have had 2 organizations that agreed to pay my bill, once they found out it was this company they apologized and said they are not authorized to, it has to be Dallas Energy, Reliant or a few others.
When you sign up they will also sell you on a water filter company they partner with, they will promise you $5 off your monthly bill, I have yet to see mine discounted. Whatever you do, proceed with caution. I went from a .23cents a KW with another company to their .13cents a KW and am paying the same amount, because they find ways to pad their invoices to get the most out of you. They will not work with you, id say just let them keep your deposit and go elsewhere. If this is my first year of marriage with this company then the future with them is looking rather bleak.

Bogus spam calls.and payment oroblems…
Got a email that my account past due and called Just Energy at the number they suggest to pay bill 866 587 8674. They wanted me to pay again, even though.I had my confirmation number from my March payment. I am calling my b a no to check if they have any information. I told them I had been contacted on line from a 647 930 8651 telling me my account had not been paid and they were going to shut my electricity off and call 800 801 1502 to pay.it. when I looked it up online . That it is a spam number for Just Energy. who are They and why.is Just Energy not interested in finding out. They did not seem to understand what I was telling them. Why do I have to find out not them. The person I was talking to had no clue. Just Energy what is going why are you failing so many people? I've ALWAYS PAID MY BILL ON TIME.

They are a rip off and will over charge…
They are a rip off and will over charge you claim their smart meters are never wrong! Which it’s a computer and they do mess up and have glitches. You think if a customer complained of this cause there’s no way I’m using as much as they say when I’m never home and can’t even use my hvac because then my bill would go from $400 to $600! So needless to say we have been freezing all winter! I even took their suggestions and had my apartments fix anything that could make it sky rocket and had the hvac unit checked, got led lights and all that but guess what?? My bill got even higher!! How is it family and friends with bigger houses who are home all day have way lower bills than I do! And they get rude at Just energy when you ask them to check on their end… going to the governor with this one and any other higher officials that will listen since Just energy doesn’t seem to care they are ripping single mothers off. Everything is as expensive as it is. It’s sad you have to choose between feeding yourself or having power.
