They make it a nearly impossible to cancel.
They make it a nearly impossible to cancel, even after you have purchased insurance with another company. The 866-980-9431 number they tell you to call in order to cancel is a joke. I called at least 5 times. Each time, I was asked repeatedly why I was calling and when I said "I want to cancel my policy...", there was NO RESPONSE! They just kept asking why I was calling, over and over again. Just another indication of the biggest mistake I've ever made in opening a policy with Root Insurance.

This root app is crazy good in a bunch of ways, I was paying 340 for my insurance and I’m now paying 230 as an 18 year old with a Benz which is just money saving and so much better all around, personal thank you to root insurance 100%

BAIT AND SWITCH RATES
After providing all relevant information, like other car insurance companies would ask, they provide a very lowball quote and then when you go to bind coverage through Root via The Zebra the price changed to almost triple the price. TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH and a waste of time. Example: The quoted rate, after all information provided was $142/month. Once chat began to bind coverage the quote changed to $426/month. That is substantially higher than the other quotes received for same coverage.

1 Star Claims Service: they accuse you of fraud if you get in a wreck at the wrong time.
I was in a MVA, with 100% of fault on the other driver's end. Since the wreck occurred just before my auto-renew and a new policy, they "flagged" my account for fraud and refused to help me unless they had a police report. Those take 2 weeks. As a pregnant mom with 2 kids at home, I didn't have 2 weeks to wait for help. My agent was cold, and didn't help one bit. The only help they provided was bare minimum for medical payments and that's because they're legally mandated to do so.

Just switched to Root insurance
Just switched to Root insurance. Wanted to speak to a live agent on the phone. I'm moving my daughter into her dorm this week and our mileages are greatly affected by this. It'll increase our average in for a week. unsuccessful with getting a call back or the agent helping.

Hello.
I think I will be able to give you a better response after we activate the plan on 8/25/25…
…but, up to this point in time, I have been quite happy with your online service - such as how very thorough your questionnaire is and how protective you are about your CURRENT customer base.
And I love the idea of having a “test drive” to ensure you only keep the safest drivers, whilst giving us a chance to reduce our premium!
