Japanny -Best Japanese Knife Omdömen 28

I ordered 3 knives and the prices I thought are very comparable to other sites. The quality of each is very good, all are extremely sharp, packaged well. I am happy with the knives and delivery was fast. However after ordering you get a notice that says you will need to pay VAT tax. The tax wasn't cheap either about 30%. The web site should warn / notify you before ordering. Made the knives much more expensive than other site. Authentic nice knives but too expensive with the tax.

The point of the blade has L shape mistake cutting, so the point looks like a straight hook. The full length of the blade only 150mm, including handle totally 270mm, I contacted with the seller through email back and forth, been told I have to shipped back the item to Japan and pay the shipping fee by myself if I want to return. And how much they return to me depends how they feel the condition of the knife, which is ridiculous because the poor quality knife should not out of the manufacturer if they has inspected by quality control, everyone knows how important the blade point does for the sushi chef. Will not shopping from here again! Back to Amazon which worry free as a customer.

I used this knife only for veggies, soft meat, never bone. I wash and dry by hand every time after using it, and keep it in a shaethe with a plastic tip protector. I really do not understand how this can happen. Maybe I got a bad specimen, in any case, the tip broke for no aparent reason. It is really disappointing to experience this after so much care.

Cancelled my order without explanation, even though I’d paid and was waiting patiently for it, was meant for a birthday present which the recipient then received late due to having to order for a more reliable company. Unsatisfying!

The company didn’t post my first three attempts. The tang slot is too large for the tang and the gap is filled with glue and the bolster has separated from the handle, leaving a gap. Also, the pin is cosmetic so there is no mechanical connection keeping the handle in place. It looks like this was NOT the original Handle and they tried to make the tang fit. BEWARE this is unethical business practice and they are trying to hide legitimate, educated collector from posting an honest review. I had two professional artisan knife makers evaluate the $1000 knife to verify my suspicions. JAPANNY said they would accept return after 7 days policy. Challenging to even figure out from their website how to return the knife. DO NOT trust this site for expensive pieces. Serious deceptive business practices.

Bought a Takamura. The knife was superb, great value delivered from Japan swiftly by FedEx. First rate product and service, I would absolutely buy again and recommend

Not Happy we wait over a Month and stil Nothing.. It Was A birthday Gift For My Wife and now i must buy some thing else If i contact the seller the just send me the track and trace again and again .. And when i contact the post office they say the seller must make a claim and than they can try to see why the packidge is stucked in proces.... shame that the seller never try to help solve this issue... for me never again with this company.

When i bought my knife in Japanny on march with my friends account , saya sheath didn't fit it and it was so loose , and now i bought this still doesnt fit ,but this time is not loose and i cant even put it in . Have to throw this now because its useless to me.

This is the worst knife that I haver purchased in all of the years that I have been collecting knives. Even though you folk claim that this product is hand made, by far the majority of collected knives are hand made, not one of them exemplify such poor craftsmanship. I feel that you should send me a prepaid label to at least let me exchange this dud.

200$ Knife was bought to use in a proffesional kitchen, chipped multiple times on day 1. Metal is terrible quality and absolutely zero response from Japanny. They also deleted my review.

Malgré des tarifs qui semblent attractifs, le montant de la facture finale est bien différent. Pour un couteau à 99,00, j'ai acquitté 150,31 euros. Plus de 50 % de frais et taxes divers !!!
Il est bien indiqué que des frais et taxes restent à la charge de l'acheteur, mais comme on paye déjà 17,00 euros, de port, à la commande, on ne pense pas qu'il en restera autant.
Le site manque vraiment de transparence et d’honnêteté sur le sujet. Ils connaissent parfaitement les modalités de vente du Japon vers la France !!! L'information devrait être BEAUCOUP PLUS CLAIRE.
Ne vous arrêtez donc pas au prix affiché, vous risquez d’être très déçu.

I don't recommend this product or this company. The knife has a very small handle making it uncomfortable to hold as it bites into the palm. I do not have large hands and when I asked my wife to give me her opinion she noticed the same issue. When I brought this up to customer care they simply sent me a copy of their terms of service (customer pays return shipping to Japan plus big restocking fee - so basically I'm stuck with it) and made no attempt to address my concerns.
This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I would advise all potential buyers to shop elsewhere.

I can recognize the other bad comments but I think it is not correct to be so hard (1 star or 2). Here is my experience...
I ordered 5 knives on the website and after 2 days of research, they were the BEST site to book at a good price (ok => you will get another bill with tax, etc... thank's to your country and fees with Japan, not because of japanny ! But maybe you would prefer order a japanese knife in Poland ? lol).
A couple of days next to my order, I receive a demand to pay fees (150€ for 5 knives that I pay 350 +/- on the site, so 500€ for 5 quality handmade damascus VG10 with a such efficience...) and get knives a couple of hours after that.
I'm fully happy with this order and the price was really affordable in my point (compared to many and many sites accessibles in Belgium/France).

A week ago I was excited to unbox my newly arrived knives i ordered with Japanny. Everything was ok until i noticed a very small chip in my gyuto knife. I immediately emailed them, sent heaps of photos but the email i received was like i was the one who induced the chip. I just did paper test to check its sharpness and when there was a bump while cutting the paper thats when i saw a very tiny chip! If your not keen of checking it, you will not able to notice the damage! Until now no reply from them. Upon receiving I tried calling the office but no answers and no follow up email. Im so disappointed!

They don't include VAT and you receive days later an invoice from FedEX requesting an extra 20% + processing fees

I ordered the knife over 7 weeks ago and have no information on where it is located. The tracking number information i have was last updated on 9 September. I understand that there are transport delays but i would like to know where it is in transit, surly there should be information using the tracking number I emailed Japanny and the reply stated that they do not know where it is in transit, not vey helpful, very disappointing.

What a joke I need to pay another $49 .00 for customs , this is a total farce , I will be on face book warning everyone , that this is a farce , will never deal with u again and I will be telling all my friends never to deal with ur company Japanny, JOKE

This was a present for Father's Day from my children. It was purchased in May and sat in my son's bedroom until Father's Day. The knife is exactly what I wanted BUT Japanny sent a second quality knife, and now it's beyond the return date. There's a curved discoloration on the steel at the back-top of the blade next to the top of the handle on both sides, and the top of the knife has a slight bow in it. I have photos but don't know how to attach them. It's a shame and this company doesn't make it easy to contact them. I don't recommend you to buy knives in Japanny.
