….the hills are alive with the sound of my Berlin Taxi! following 6 years of storage my, one of only 2.4 million, 1985 Mercedes-Benz W123 230e saloon will shortly be released into the wild. only ever could one Classic Car Insurance Company be trusted to insure this, to me, priceless companion - it had to be - Hagerty Classic Car Insurance! no shopping around - straight to The Master Bespoke Specialist! the on-line application was very straightforward to submit - concluded with a one to one Client Support consultation resulting in a most agreeable policy settlement. I am now reassured to be in safe hands - thank you Hagerty and well done..

Was a bit stressed as I missed my renewal emails three weeks ago, rang today a bit last thing and spoke to Alex. He found my details straight away and sorted my very competitive renewal in no time at all. This was the best insurance experience I have ever had and I would recommend this company strongly.

Swapped from a competitor who I have…

Swapped from a competitor who I have been with for years after they increased my premiums by 25% yet no claims or justification! So I was given the name of Hagertys by my Healey Club. It took 15 minutes and the call handler was excellent and I saved a lot of money.

Almost five stars

I would have awarded five stars but my experience trying to renew my insurance on line was overly complicated - with the result that my insurance was cancelled. Compared with other competitors the interface needs a redesign. However, a very helpful person from Hagerty came on the phone and sorted everything out on the spot. Excellent service as always.

Dissappointing

I have been a customer for many years with several classic cars. I wanted to add one to my collection and obviously needed to test drive it for which I required temporay cover. Hagerty would not give me cover until I 'owned' it?? This was in spite of providing cover for a previous vehicle which they said was a mistake. I have been with them for many years and had no claims so I consider this to be rediculous. How do they expect one to own a car without test driving it. So I will be saying goodbye to Hagerty in favour of an insurer with a more sensible policy. A very dissappointed and previously loyal customer.

Thank you for your reply but you miss the point. Adrian Flux, for example, will provide temporary cover or a full cover which can be cancelled or changed to another vehicle (subject to an admin fee). You did not offer any cover because I did not acytually own the vehicle at the time. Few private sellers, who are the majority in the classic car market, will allow one to test drive their pride and joy without appropriate insurance cover. You are in exactly the same classic market as Adrian Flux, for example, so you can't say it is the 'industry norm'. Anyway it's your choice but I find it dissappointing hence my review.

We understand your frustration, and we appreciate how important it is to be able to test drive a vehicle before committing to purchase. While we don't provide cover for this purpose, this is in line with standard practice across much of the motor insurance industry.

Typically, if a vehicle is being sold through a dealer, they will have motor trade insurance that includes test drives, though it's always best to confirm this directly with the seller. In private sales, some standard motor insurance policies may include third-party cover for driving other vehicles with the owner's permission. We would encourage you to speak with your everyday-use vehicle insurer to see if this option is available to you.

While we hope you might consider returning in the future, we're truly sorry to see you go and appreciate the years you've spent with us.
