I would not trust this Company. They are an insrance agent offering a policy in collaboration with an insurance underwriter. Hagerty arrange your insurance, take a commission and get the underwriter to issue the legal road insurance policy. In my case it was Markel International Insurance Company Limited. In their policy Hagerty state they undertake all claims matters - but they delegate this to a private company Connexus Insurance Solutions Ltd who then use Vehicle Damage Assessors, who they pay, to recommend settlements. If, like me you have insured a very limited edition classic car, as in my case, Connexus sent two so called "experts" to value the damage to my car. It took me two months to prove that the first "expert" was totally unsuitable, particularly when he said my car was a clone and not a lightweight. The second "expert" on arrival said he had never seen my model of car before yet proceeded to write a long report, 57 pages, with just one A4 page explaining his estimate and increasing the recommended offer by £2,397 from £35,000. It took me 17 months to go through the Hagerty Complaints procedure, then the Financial Services Ombudsman (Hagerty used their flawed second experts 57 page report as evidence) both rejecting my complaint so that, on 18 December 2024 I took Markel to court. Markel used a solicitor and two barristers to contest my claim which ended with a two day trial in Walsall Crown Court after a claims procedure lasting 28 months resulting in with a judgement of an extra £25,248 to be added to my claim (£37,397 paid without prejudice after my FSO claim was rejected) making £62,645 for the repair of my car and £25,248 costs. Throughout this saga Hagerty just looked the other way.
I suggest you just look the other way as well.

Offered a much better price than I could find anywhere else. The staff member I spoke to was relatively unenthusiastic on the phone and failed to offer a saving I identified I could have made before paying for the insurance. Overall very happy though given the competitive pricing and opportunity to get insurance despite not needing to hold full term employment.
So I own a 1958 classic car insured through Hagerty. I have tried to add my brother-in-law as a named driver so that he can use the car to drive his daughter to the church for her wedding in Jersey from his property which is all of a 1 mile trip. Hagerty has declined to have him added. He has a clean licence, no previous convictions and has been driving on a license for more than 40 years and owns and six other cars. He owns a company which operates three restaurants which are three licensed premises and it would appear that his occupation is the reason why Hagerty has refused to allow him to be added as a named driver. I have quite simply never heard of anything so ridiculous in all my years. I assume that neither Gordon Ramsay nor Jamie Oliver insure their cars through Hagerty. Just absurd.

I had a damaged glass on my car which was going to cost £4000 and take a year due to its rarity. Rachael was so helpful and advised it was acceptable to look for a second hand glass and have that fitted, which there was only one of in the UK. The excellent advice I was given has meant my classic car was back in action in two weeks, kept the cost within my insured limit and Hagerty have a customer for life. Thank you, Sam
