Your company is fantastic

Your company is fantastic. Your service is second to none. Your website to see messages and log a claim is terrible and extremely difficult to navigate. Most of your engineers are superb but not all.

It’s easy to give 5 stars if all works…

It’s easy to give 5 stars if all works well or 0 stars if it doesn’t. However in between those extremes lies the grey area of how a company responds to customer concerns and complaints and in my experience when all did not go to plan, I was genuinely impressed with the attitude and response from the company. That it’s also possible to speak to a real person is a real plus in this day and age.

Don’t bother wasting your money

I would give 0 stars if I could- DFS sell you a dream when it comes to guardsman and having your sofa covered with guardsman. When in fact it comes to making a claim you have to fill out a long winded form and give specific details to the exact piece that needs cleaning/fixing and they will ONLY clean that area. I have raised a complaint back in October 2025 after guardsman came out to clean my sofa because my son was sick on it. After the sofa dried my sofa had more marks on it than before the guy came. The material is also damaged so my sofa is ruined. A guy came out to assess and said that the policy document states that material will be replaced & he said that guardsman only ever give you a new sofa or money towards a new sofa if your sofa is no longer being made or they cannot source the material. Even if replacing all the material on your sofa is more expensive. Guardsman have not resolved my complaint and themselves told me to raise a complaint with the FCA which I have done but in the mean time guardsman have told me that my material has been ordered and is due to be delivered 26th June 2026 which is 8 months since I raised my complaint. This is totally unacceptable and I wish I had never spent the money covering my sofa because its been more hassle than it’s worse and I’m here with a damaged sofa through no fault of my own, a policy which isn’t doing what I expected it to do.

Password protect PDF contract, but no password

They send you the contract in a password protected PDF but not sending you the password.
When trying to contact them for the password you're simply ignored.

For data security, the password for your policy document is always sent in a separate email, and unfortunately, some email providers mistakenly direct our second email into Junk/SPAM folders.

Possibly the worst company to ever have…

Possibly the worst company to ever have to deal with.
9 months we've been waiting for a replacement and we are still waiting. They constantly blame delays, and when the day comes to your next supposed delivery you get radio silence. If you're gonna buy a piece of furniture from somewhere and get insurance on it be sure that this isn't the company.

Would give no stars if possible

Would give no stars if possible! Our dog wee’d on our brand new sofa a few days after delivery, contacted guardsman who sent someone out, they sprayed the down filled back cushion and said it would break down the odour and neutralise it, a few days afterwards we realised the smell was still there, however guardsman had closed our claim I put in a complaint and have now been told they don’t cover a second visit to remove odours caused by a stain! The feather down cushion needs replacing and they have washed their hands of it!! Total waste of money and a rip off, do not pay for their so called insurance!! Definitely mis sold and I hope at some point there will be compensation for customers sold this load of rubbish

Sofa would not recline

Our electric sofa would not recline, 1 simple call and the problem was diagnosed, we took a photo of the switch, and it was replaced and working again in a timely fashion, thank you

They did not fix my electrical fault…

They did not fix my electrical fault even though I have the correct policy. Technician said I’m just here to take pictures. They closed my claim without contacting me. I complained and they still haven’t responded to my complaint,

Absolutely useless and fraudulent…

Absolutely useless and fraudulent insurance policy sold in partnership with furniture manufacturers. Avoid by all means! You pay so much then met with reasons why you can’t claim for accidental spillage… So what exactly did I pay for ??

Absolute waste of money

Absolute waste of money. I have accidentally broke my bed base. Registered the claim and been told is structural fault...Accidental damage is no covered....unbelievable and insulating!

All insurance policies will have coverage restrictions, and the retailers we partner with do make these as clear as possible by providing customers with access to an IPID (insurance product information document at the point of sale) which summarises the key benefits and exclusions of our insurance. You would also have received a copy of the full terms and conditions after you took delivery of your furniture.
Our standard policies are for stains and accidental damage only. If this was not fully explained/shown to you when purchasing your plan, or if you would like further clarity on what is and isn't covered under your policy, please do get in touch via info@guardsman.co.uk and we would be happy to explain.

Honestly useless

Honestly useless. The portal barely gets responded to. I reported damage to my leather sofa in September had to wait 12 weeks and all the usual stuff. Got the new covers delivered to my house and deliberately didnt take them out of packaging incase of any damage. Then technician turns up weeks latee and as soon as he removed from packaging he noticed that they have ink on them and because of them being new and the sofa being 2 years old they are different in colour.

He said he would send a report to let them know that every single aspect of the covering will now need to be replaced and now I've been told that is at least another another 12 weeks. Gonna be a year before this gets sorted.

Also have a complaint pending that took 8 weeks to apparently respond to and low behold on the last day of the 8 weeks get told 'sorry we still haven't resolved your complaint, feel free to go to the ombudsman.' Yeah, got all day to go through all this nonsense.

Whilst we endeavour to settle any claim that requires parts as quickly as possible, as we are sure you will appreciate, those replacement parts are "made to order", in the same way as your furniture was when you purchased it from your retailer.

We are not the manufacturer of your furniture (or the replacement parts) and unfortunately, there can sometimes be delays between us ordering and you/the technician receiving them, particularly if they are coming from overseas. Regrettably, we have no control over 3rd party timescales.

However, we acknowledge your comments, especially regarding the new cover having ink on it and have passed details of this review to our Complaints Team to review your claim.
