Nematode trap vine weevil useless
I purchased the nematode trap. It was expensive for what it was. A small piece of wood with cutouts filled with a type of nematode gel.
I followed the instructions to the letter. After the first 12 hours I noticed gel had come away from the wood, 2.5 week in and the gel is just sitting on top of the soil. A useless product and a waste of money! To protect the product I placed it directly under a plant and placed cardboard upright around the plant to protect it. Total waste of money. I would not recommend. A Useless product

So the response for the sale of a product that does not function as it should, that by their own admission is still being sold without adequate knowledge of whether it performs in specific weather conditions.
If a nematode trap is used as per instruction it shouldn’t fall apart. To note the trap was kept in a shady spot under a plant and protected with cardboard it was neither too wet or dry. Please explain what conditions would suit this product because your response is pointing at the weather?
Be sure to let me know so it can be shared with your passed and potential customers.

Thanks for the exact temperature requirements that’s very helpful more so because I am confident the trap was in optimal temperature conditions.
I note that you refuse to accept returns for items that are opened and or used? How is it possible to determine if a product has an issue without trying it, Please advise I’m confused?
The product in my opinion is faulty, the description and instructions are also misleading and lack the information you are now presenting.
To note: I have used nematodes for many years and do not agree with your claim that the gel fell out due to the temperature.
Thank you for your time, I will not purchase from your company again.

Thank you for getting in touch, and I am very sorry to hear about your experience with the Nematop Vine Weevil Trap. I completely understand your frustration when a product does not perform as expected, especially when you followed the instructions so carefully.
From your description, it sounds like the nematode gel unfortunately detached from the wooden grooves early on. The trap works by enticing adult vine weevils to hide in the grooves at night, where they contract the microscopic nematodes from the gel.
This detachment can happen if water runs underneath the board, but it is heavily accelerated by hot weather. Extreme heat can cause the gel carrier to liquefy, shrink, and slip out of the wood despite your efforts to shelter it.

To ensure our customers can make informed choices, the manufacturer's packaging clearly outlines the necessary environmental conditions for this organic control, specifying an optimal operating temperature window between 12°C and 30°C. When ambient or ground temperatures spike beyond that 30°C maximum, the gel carrier naturally begins to liquefy and break down, which prevents the trap from functioning as intended.
To support our customers and protect buyer trust, we always offer free returns for any item that is decided against prior to use. However, once a biological product is deployed, outdoor environmental exposure is unfortunately beyond our control.

I waited to see if these nematodes…
I waited to see if these nematodes would work before posting a review. After two treatments there's no sign of flea beetles in my garden this year. So I'm happy.

Wow!
Last year I had huge infestations of blackfly and whitefly on buddleia and honeysuckle, which I tried to get rid of by frequently hosing both with powerful jets of water. It didn't work. The whitefly even spread to other plants.
As soon as I saw the honeysuckle had whitefly again this spring, I ordered ladybird larvae and a cotton release bag from Green Gardener. The result was swift and amazing. The honeysuckle even looks better than it had in years: lots of lush dense foliage smothered in flowers.
My buddleia had a massive blackfly infestation. I ordered another batch of ladybird larvae and the results were just as amazing as the honeysuckle. The little darlings hoovered up every blackfly, leaving my buddleia beautiful again and covered in flowers.
If they exhaust their food supply here, I guess at least some of them will move on to other gardens to continue their good work elsewhere, but if the food source appears again I'm sure they'll be back.
What an incredibly easy, effective, affordable, environmentally friendly and swift pest control method this is.
