didn't expect to be reviewing filofax but here I am

okay so I obv didn't look up Filofax reviews before ordering something because why on earth would I need to?

I then had such a bad experience I had to see if a review section existed online and came across this comically low rating!

I've had a Filofax for 15 years and LOVE it. I gifted my mum one 10 years ago and she still loves it too.

So...

- ordered a Filofax as another gift
- received order confirmation and note that said:

"Due to unforeseen circumstances & a few ongoing technical issues, we are currently operating with considerable processing, shipment & delivery delays. Please allow ample additional time for the arrival of any deliveries or requests."

that's okay, I've ordered this FIVE WEEKS in advance.

- due to the note I left it 2 weeks, but I could see the item had been sitting in the depot for over a week. I was going to leave it longer due to the delay notice but got in touch anyway to check.
- customer service advised normal delivery times 5-7 working days (which contradicted the confirmation email so I didn't need to give them all this grace period?) and the item I bought is now out of stock and I was refunded.
- their range isn't very extensive or nice anymore and most of their fun colours are out of stock. however, I saw the item I ordered was still available and was very happy and assumed there was maybe a return or delivery failure so quickly bought it excitedly.
- advised customer service but they "as per my last email"'d me and said it's out of stock :( contradicting info again...
- I picked a boring black Filofax as it's slim pickings and requested the £6ish difference to be waived.
- I got a confirmation this had been processed and 5 days later the item still hadn't been despatched lol
- customer service advised further delays it'll arrive next week
- FOUR WEEKS later, I have the Filofax... it's fine, echoing what others have said, it feels and looks cheaper, definitely not what they used to be.

I've noticed my local Rymans and John Lewis slowly fizzle out the Filofax sections and there's barely stock or fun choices anymore when I go for my refills. This followed by this weird experience is probs a bad sign.

14 days to deliver a really tiny package …

I ordered a pocket diary refill. It arrived 14 days later, small enough to go in a standard small letter envelope, C6.

Why does Filofax use Whistl to deliver tiny packets which can go through a domestic letterbox, and which even the tardy Royal Mail could deliver faster. My order sat for too many days at a warehouse instead of being delivered. Never again. I would have given zero stars if I could.

IT incident at Filofax

An update to my earlier review below:
Customer Services contacted me on 21/01/26 to say that my order has been refunded due to an IT incident which has meant that they have been unable to process any orders. They were most apologetic.

On 8th January, I ordered an A5 original organiser. They quickly took the payment and confirmed it. It is now 20th January and I have heard nothing despite 3 emails. As people have said, their customer service is non-existent. This is not what you expect from a company like Filofax when you spend more than £100 on a product. I advise you to shop elsewhere.

Non-existent customer service

Absolutely disappointed with the non existing customer service. Received my much anticipated order, the monogram on my planner (which feels very cheap and not luxurious at all for a leather cover) is missing, I contact on several channels and instead of a response, I receive a refund for the missing personalisation. This was a birthday present and you have taken all joy out of the purchase. I no longer wish to own a Filofax and can say this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had with any brand and not something I expected from a “luxury” brand like yours. Will definitely look for an organiser elsewhere and advise anyone not to purchase from you.

Very slow shipping

Very slow shipping. It took them 13 days to hand my order over to a courier, and they tell me it could take 15 days after that to deliver. I should have just ordered on Amazon, because the order would take 3 days, not 3 weeks!

Notable Dates Do Not Include Jewish Holidays

I’ve been using this system for twenty years and although the paper has gotten flimsier, I continued to use the A5 system because I like my binder. Next year I will be changing to a different company because under Notable Dates they include Chrisitan Holidays but omit Jewish Holidays. This is insulting to people of the Jewish faith. Sadly, there's enough anti-sematism in the world- Filofax does not need to contribute to it.

Zero service - shoddy products

I placed an order, for which I received a very quick confirmation. I then waited the mandatory 9 working days (2 weeks) to receive the items. All seemed OK, except that a pen did not work (such a simple thing). However at over £10, a non trivial loss. I have tried all manner of means of contacting them for a replacement, but to no avail. Truly shocking. This is a business that calls itself a leader in its field. I will seek an alternative supplier for the diary refills next year.

7 days and nothing

I'm writing for the Swedish filofax website where I placed an order a week ago. I should've checked Trustpilot first, but I was naive and thought that since Filofax is a known company, nothing could go wrong, right? At least that they would have a decent customer service, but no. They don't seem to even have one. The order confirmation was sent right after I placed the order, but after that... nothing. It has now been a week and I've sent emails asking about why there is such a delay but have yet to recieve a response. The website states that they send orders in 1-3 days and it can take up to 5-7 days for the package to arrive. It has now been 7 days and it hasn't even been sent yet! I hope they agree to cancel my order and make a refund, since now I've bought the items from somewhere else. Very disappointed, I will never buy from Filofax website again.

APPALLING customer service (there is none!!)

Really wish I had read the reviews first.
As others have said the personalisation took an age to do - then did not save. I emailed them about this three times and got zero response. I placed my order and its stuck as "ready to be shipped" but has not been and yet again they are not replying to my emails. I will not bother with them again and would advise anyone reading this before making a purchase to go elsewhere. They cant be bothered to reply to customers but are happy to take customers money.
No thanks!

Personalisation Tool Faulty

Disappointed at wasted time - very poor personalisation experience
My wife bought me a leather A4 organiser last Xmas.
Thought I would purchase a personalised diary.
Ist attempt about 1.5 hrs but didn’t save
2nd attempt about 1.0 saved but trying to add to trolley and stuck at 30%
What’s going on please ?

£47 absolutely not worth it!

£47 and the cover is flimsy and the pages (A5) like the cover size don’t appear to sit flat in the cover.
I thought I was buying the original and the best!

I wouldn't recommend

I have an older organizer that I like and I ordered refills from the official website:
- transparent envelopes (top opening) - made in China - are 1-2 mm wider than the older ones I got years ago, together with the notebook. They stick out too much, just enough to be annoying and interfere with the pen holder. They fold when I close the organizer, being pushed by the pen holder. The quality is... none! Too thin and flimsy compared to the old ones, the top cut is not that easy to open compared to the old ones and there's a risk of cutting my skin if I'm not careful when flipping the pages.
- zip closure envelope - made in China - brilliant idea, worst possible execution. Those are narrower than the ones I mentioned above and don't interfere with the pen holder or closing the organizer. However, those are also too thin and flimsy, the same cheap material as the other ones, but the worst thing about them is that they are too narrow. The zipper is underneath the pages and makes it impossible to write because the pages don't lay flat. I won't move them around all the time, depending on which part of the page I'm writing.
- plain white paper refills - made in China - are more towards the printer paper, less shiny and smooth than the old ones that I got in the past
- plain coloured paper refills - made in UK - slightly thicker than the white ones, but still without that smooth/shine

I returned the pockets, kept the papers, and now I'm waiting to see how quickly they will process the refund.
The only reason why I give 2 stars now instead of 1, is because the papers have the same size as the old ones, and fit the organizer. And so far it seems the absorbency/bleed through are no different as for the old pages I have.

I'll come back with an update about the refund process.

LE: I got a notification message about the refund today (5 days after I sent the pockets back), probably it'll take a few days for the transfer to complete.
I don't know if it was processed that fast because I wrote the above review, or if they improved their services.

What a shameful experience

What a shameful experience. I’ve been buying Filofax products for 25 years and have used my organiser since I went to uni. Wanted to pay £250 for a new set of products but their *overly complicated* personalised website system kept crashing. No way to talk to anyone, just a web form. Asked someone to call me so I could give them a telephone payment and got a reply saying not to use Safari and not a mobile. I was using chrome on a computer. Another heritage UK brand, lost to its arrogance, that doesn’t care about its customers. Preach on about the quality of their product and wonder why people pay a tenth of the price to shop at Amazon. You are so far behind. Very sad.

Dishonest company, lies they haven’t received my return, bad quality products

Bought Malden personal size organisers and they are really bad quality, one came extremely wrinkled (pink) and another had faulty rings (stone). I sent them back and paid postage, it’s been delivered on Monday 12th and I’ve been waiting for refund ever since its 21st. I decided to email them and they dishonestly saying they haven’t received my orders and to give them tracking which I did. I have no other option but to file a charge back. Overpriced for what it is, bad quality or wrong items sent and in addition dishonest.

Very Satisfied

I had a problem with my expensive Fileofax, but I have to say, they dealt with the issue very professionally & I'm completly satisfied.

I feel let down

I am writing you to express my disappointment and anger with this product.
I live in Australia and purchased an A5 Filofax Classic Organiser almost 10 years ago. It was the top of the range leather A5 organiser on the market, the cover is stamped as: Filofax Classic A5 Organiser, Italian Leather.
I had much pleasure using the organiser in my psychotherapy practice for about 5 years until my retirement.
As a lover of leather, I kept the organiser well oiled at all times, and to date, it looks new, except for the fact that a very thin film that looks like cling-wrap, lifted and is peeling off the surface of the cover. It is obvious that this product isn’t made of real leather! (I attach photos)
I know that my organiser is no longer protected under warranty, however I believe it was misrepresented as a leather product, that it was wrongly sold as the top of the range, and I find it difficult to reconcile with the high reputation of Filofax.

I contacted your Australian representatives/agents and was informed that the product was no longer under warranty and that legally only a small percentage of real leather has to be included in order for the product to be advertised as ‘real leather’.

Naturally, I am not satisfied.
I would appreciate a more satisfactory explanation.

False discount code advertised

Filofax advertised a 20% discount but when I used the code it ‘did not apply’. I have checked the written requirements and my purchase should have qualified so I can only assume this company now advertise falsely. I have been a customer for 35 years and use to consider them a reputable company.
