Extremely Disappointing and Dishonest Business Practices

I had a very frustrating experience with FaxBetter. I originally signed up for a 24-month service in 2022. Without any notice or my consent, they automatically renewed my account in 2024 and charged my credit card $142.80. I never agreed to this renewal, and their own Terms of Service do not mention anything about automatic renewals.

When I discovered the charge, I immediately contacted their support to cancel the service and port out my number. Not only were they unresponsive and unhelpful, but they also failed to provide a receipt for the renewal.

Avoid this company. !!!!!!!
Their billing practices are shady, and their customer support is practically nonexistent once they have your money.

“I authorize FaxBetter to charge the bank card entered above $142.80 for a 24 month(s) of FaxBetter service. I understand that I am enrolling in a subscription program and thereby authorize FaxBetter to continue charging this card every month(s) until I cancel. I understand that I may cancel at any time but I will continue to receive service for the duration of my prepaid period. I accept and agree to the Terms of Service.”
This confirmation forms the basis of our subscription billing structure, which includes automatic renewal to ensure uninterrupted service. Your bank card company agrees with us as they denied your dispute claim.
Regarding your concern about not receiving a renewal receipt, a detailed invoice is typically sent to the email address on file immediately following a successful transaction. If this was not received, it may have been inadvertently directed to a spam or junk folder. Nevertheless, we are happy to provide a copy at your request.

Scammers from Florida prevent cancellation of 2 year contract

Dispute all charges with this company - There is no way to cancel a subscription and they input your bank information for renewal without authorization.
No way to cancel on line.
No way to email to cancel.
No way to phone the company to cancel, you can only contact a "help desk" which does NOT accept any cancellations of subscriptions.
Their website states "No Partial Refunds" but give no notice of the two year contract renewal, in violation of California's consumer protection laws.

Ms. Siemont’s claims are simply not true:
-FaxBetter DOES offer cancellation via text at FaxBetter.com.
-FaxBetter DOES offer cancellation via phone at 855-Fax-Better.
-FaxBetter DOES make our renewal process clear.
-FaxBetter DOES comply with all state and federal laws.
Even though we are not required, FaxBetter offers prorated refunds on request (as we did in Ms. Siemont’s case).
FaxBetter has provided fax services to over 750,000 satisfied users since 2006.


The specifics are Ms. Siemont’s case are detailed below:

On April 8, 2019, Ms. Siemont opted to upgrade to FaxBetter Premium for a total of $142.80, covering a two-year period. At that time, she confirmed her agreement by selecting a checkbox adjacent to the following statement:
"I authorize FaxBetter to charge the bank card entered above $142.80 for 24 month(s) of FaxBetter service. I understand that I am enrolling in a subscription program and thereby authorize FaxBetter to continue charging this card every 24 month(s) until I cancel. I understand that I may cancel at any time but I will continue to receive service for the duration of my prepaid period. I accept and agree to the Terms of Service."

On April 11, 2021, the FaxBetter system automatically charged her account $142.80 to renew her service for an additional two years

On April 11, 2023, in accordance with Ms. Siemont’s agreement, the FaxBetter system automatically charged her account $142.80 to renew her service for an additional two years, ensuring the continuity of her fax services. At FaxBetter, we make necessary arrangements to maintain the smooth operation of a customer's fax account for the entire service period they have chosen. As a result, we do not issue prorated refunds, since services are provided for the full prepaid term.

On April 14, 2023, at 10:39 AM, a representative from FaxBetter Support responded to her request by calling her to assist with the cancellation. During this conversation, her account was successfully canceled.

Although our Terms of Service clearly state that prorated refunds are not provided, in this case, we made an exception as a gesture of goodwill. We offered Ms. Siemont a refund of $132.85, which represents the full charge of $142.80 minus $9.95 for the first month of service that began on April 11, 2023. Ms. Siemont accepted this resolution.

We hope this detailed review clarifies the events and resolves any misunderstandings.

Terrible website

Terrible website. I have used the number they provide and then within a week they deactivated the number and requested me to upgrade (even though they promised to keep the number open as long as I receive a fax at least once every 7 days). Ok fine, I will pay, but their payment system doesn't work with the cards outside from US or Canada. Moreover, as I used an international card, my account has been closed, my documents have been marked for deletion and my fax number has been set to be released to another customer. So my sensitive info goes to someone else.
No matter what I try, they just say noooo or force me to pay 2 years' payment upfront with bitcoin or PayPal, both cannot be used where I live.
Please stay away from them. They are not trustworthy

Mr. Medeniyet wanted to upgrade to FaxBetter Premium. When he attempted to do so, he was flagged for fraud. Since he was not in the US or Canada, we offered for him to pay via PayPal or Bitcoin. But he lives in a country where neither of these payment systems can be used.


The details of Mr. Medeniyet’s case:

On September 12, 2022, Mr. Medeniyet registered for FaxBetter Free, a service that provides users with 50 free fax pages per month. To keep a FaxBetter Free account active, users are required to receive at least one fax from a unique fax number every seven days. This requirement ensures the service is actively used, allowing us to continue offering free fax services to those who need it.

On September 20, 2022, Mr. Medeniyet's FaxBetter free fax number expired because he did not receive a fax from a unique number within the required time frame.

On September 22, 2022, Mr. Medeniyet attempted to upgrade to FaxBetter Premium. However, the same day, we received an alert indicating that his account exhibited characteristics commonly associated with fraudulent activity. As a precaution to protect his financial information, we temporarily closed his account pending verification. Later that day, we successfully verified his account and reinstated it.

Since FaxBetter can only process payments using cards with a U.S. or Canadian billing address, we understand this limitation poses an issue for some customers, so we have provided alternative payment options for those who do not have U.S. or Canadian cards. Customers can make payments through PayPal or Bitcoin, but only for a two-year subscription. Due to the rare occurrence when these types of alternate payment methods are requested, there are additional complexities and costs associated with processing these types of transactions from the FaxBetter side, we only offer them for a minimum two-year subscription. This ensures that we can continue to offer secure and efficient service while managing the overhead involved in handling international payments.
