Awful customer service

I understand that it is a handmade unique piece. All good. But if you can NOT read the writing ‘CAT MOM’ because the writing colour (brown) is exactly the same as the background of the mug colour (brown), then you cannot argue that it is a ‘handmade unique piece’ and all mugs look different. The basic idea of the labelled mug with ‘CAT MOM’ is thus lost. To all people who are considering buying the mug with the inscription: DON'T DO IT! You can't read it! And to make something else clear: You have NOT replied to my mail history! Claiming untruths is not cool! :-) And I don't see the point of sending the cups to Portugal at MY expense. The pictures on your website are misleading! I would never have bought the cups if I had known that you could NOT read the labelling. So why do you advertise with perfect pictures?

I recently ordered two mugs at eggbackhome. They quickly arrived though it turned out that they don’t look like the pictures on the website at all. The engraving is not visible (dark font on dark background) and the whole idea and uniqueness of the item is not given anymore.

I contacted customer service about that issue, further stating that I’m still interested though would prefer a product that looks at least a little bit like the one on the website.

Customer service only offered a refund once I ship them back to Portugal at own cost (= 30% of the product cost) although it is very obvious that the products we received should have never been sold in the first place. Further inquiries with customer service were not answered.

Incredibly bad customer service - do not recommend ordering here again.

We would like to clarify the situation. You have written two completely different reviews, contradicting yourself in each one. In our initial response, we mentioned a misunderstanding because we genuinely thought this was related to another case, given the inconsistencies in your statements.

To be clear: your mug has no defects. There are no scratches or flaws—the design is exactly as intended. If there had been a defect, we would have immediately replaced it, as we always do in such cases. However, what you are describing is simply the natural variation of the product, which is clearly communicated on our website.

We gave you the option to return the item if you were not satisfied. If you choose not to return it, that’s entirely up to you, but it does not justify making false claims.

You are, of course, free to leave any reviews you wish, and we will continue to respond to all of them. However, spreading misinformation is not fair to us as a company

Antwort 2: I find it funny how they are now trying to appear to the public as a proper company that takes care of its customers.
I don't think I can find a solution with you.
Anyone who reads this: Don't buy from the site. Customer service doesn't reply to my private emails, but here within 5 minutes. It looks like they are just trying to look good in public! :-)
Unfortunately I can't upload pictures of the product here, then most people would understand me!
It's too stupid for me to argue on the internet, so I won't say anything more about it. Unfortunately over 50 euros down the drain, but so what? Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This time I lost. But don't get angry, there are more important things in life.

Meine Antwort: Vielen Dank für das Angebot mir neue Tassen zu senden (kostenlos). Das nehme ich gerne an. Leider stimmt es nicht, dass sie mir das bereits angeboten haben. Ihre Aussage entspricht nicht der Wahrheit. Dennoch: Wenn Sie mir das Produkt nochmal neu senden, dann ist alles gut und ich bin mit der Lösung glücklich.

P.S.: Witzigerweise hat mein Mann ebenfalls eine Bewertung hier bei TrustPilot abgegeben. Zum gleichen Sachverhalt. Ihm haben Sie eine inhaltlich andere Antwort geliefert und NICHTS von der kostenlosen Tasse gesagt! Wie kann das sein? Bei meinem Mann argumentieren sie, dass es sich um ein handgefertigtes Unikat handelt und ich damit leben muss, dass man die Schrift halt eben nicht lesen kann.

It would have been far easier for us to just send you two mugs than to waste time arguing online. We are not trying to “look good” in public—we are simply ensuring that misinformation is not spread about our company.

It’s genuinely hard to understand what someone like you gains from spending time online attempting to harm a small business that is built on hard work. If we were some large corporation ignoring complaints, perhaps I could understand, but that is far from the case.

Really expensive, scam

They did not inform about really expensive shipping. I bought 2 bowls, cost about 300nok. Ended up paying 1000nok.
I will call this scam.

I svaret under skriver de at de ikke har noen skjulte kostnader. Jeg betalte med Apple Pay der man får se summen når man betaler. Det som var trukket var nesten det dobbelte.

Calling this a scam is unfair, as we have been fully transparent about our pricing and policies. We understand that customs fees can be frustrating, but unfortunately, they are a government-imposed charge, not something we add.

Excellent service and fast delivery

I recently ordered tableware from egg back home, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I placed my order on a Wednesday, and by Monday, it had already arrived in Belgium—much faster than I expected.

The customer service was outstanding; they answered all my questions quickly and were extremely polite and helpful. I was a bit worried about the packaging, but everything was packed so well that nothing was broken upon arrival. The quality of the tableware is excellent, and I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for high-quality tableware and great service.

Disappointing Customer Service and Return Policy

I recently had a very frustrating experience with Egg Back Home. I ordered an item from their website, only to be hit with an unexpectedly high customs fee upon arrival (about 30% of my order value). I immediately contacted their customer service to cancel the order and request a refund, but their response was disappointing.

While I understand that customs fees are not within their control, their website claims to accept returns if items are in their original condition and packaging. Despite this, they refused to process my refund without charging me additional return fees. This is completely unreasonable and goes against their own stated policy.

I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. If you're considering ordering from them, beware of hidden costs and unhelpful customer support.
