The Facade of Ease: Unpacking the Ecwid Reality
As far as the actual customer service delivered by the agents at Ecwid, it would be a 5. However, in terms of the company and how they market the 'ease' of it all, along with the wonderful things you can do with your business, they would only score a 1.
Ecwid's content marketing is super slick, but they are very careful to only market the headline or hook. I am on the business plan with a few added extras, which means I've upgraded twice. I've just been informed that I can have a maximum of 10 pages, which is poor for any site that's been upgraded twice. I'm told the unlimited plan gives me 100 pages. And do not be fooled by the 'Unlimited Products' or '2500 products' on the upgrades, you will need way more than 10 pages at 2500 products!
Every aspect of Ecwid's operation seems designed for revenue generation. Yes, the customer care is good, but you'll never have all the important features you really need as you start your website/business. The URL structures are a mess, making it difficult for search engines to read. This works great for Ecwid when you don't get sales, as they have a marketing partner on standby to boost your sales. They are optimized for one thing only: generating revenue. They might be fine if you have 2 or 3 products and work from your kitchen table, but that's about it. They will never be the right platform for a store that wants to scale quickly. Remember, there's nothing in it for Ecwid if you scale.
Tonight we start the process of scoping out another platform unfortunately, disappointing for us after months of hard work setting up and a dreadfully poor customer experience from those making the decisions at Ecwid. I hope you are listening as your customers and your customer care teams dealing with the issues, deserve better than you are delivering!

It's not free for more than 5 products
I saw someone (paid) on YouTube that this is all Free. Ok. I made an account, started to add products, you can add Only 5 products. So it's not Free!!! Let's be serious, who wants an online store with 5 products?

Brilliant
I have been using Ecwid for a year now im on a mid tier and use it with my preium wix site.
Its easy, I know nothing about selling online but this was easy for me to set up and is completely user friendly. I had some teething troubles and the customer service was second to none. I sell I send invoices I track stock and fulfill orders with no issues, it brilliant and more than enough for my needs. 4 stars purely because I dont use to full potential so cant comment on everything, but I love what I use of it. Its made my life so much easier and is exteremly reasonably priced.

Elements of their platform don't work…
Elements of their platform don't work and they estimate a bug fix of at least a month to fix.
Really poor communication. Meant to have 24/7 live chat but totally misleading as there is no live chat available half the time and it just sends an email instead.
I'm losing sales and customers because of the ineptitude of Ecwid. It seems user friendly enough at first but there are too many bug issues for me that affect sales and they aren't resolved in a timely way. Also does not integrate with Royal Mail Click and Drop. They could be so much better as the platform really does seem quite useable but things constantly keep going wrong. Would not renew my subscription. Just such a pain as I spent so long setting my shop up.

Ecwid supports unethical apps
I reported an app to ecwid for fraud and they called me "emotional'.
Ecwid is my website provider. They have an app marketplace similar to Amazon where they vet and provide apps that you can add to your site for functionality/workflow etc.
I needed an app that blocked certain IPS, emails, phone numbers and countries.
Ecwid approved Dsign Softech Block Orders, an India based company.
I downloaded the app and it was very simple to use.
Orders that are associated with fraud or abuse I would enter the relevant details to block them from purchasing or visiting my site.
In Dec I noticed the orders were not being blocked.
I emailed the app for 3 weeks and he refused to respond.
I forgot about the matter, to be honest, it was my busiest month and I just dropped the ball.
In August I went to renew the app. The app was displaying cost in Indian Rupees. It was not converting to USD. So I had to go online convert and figure out what it was. It was 2400INR which at the time of conversion was just under $29USD.
I clicked "pay" and Paypal popped up with $40.
I canceled and went back to check out to see if I missed fees or something. Nope.
So I did it again, and it said $40. I surmised it was a Paypal issue, (Ive had issues with GBR and EUR before) so I hit OK and it still processed $40.
I reached out to the app and they said it was because of Ecwid's fault. Then changed their mind and said its' because Paypal costs too much. I explained they still had to include that in the cost.
They ignored me
Then, on Sept 14, the app LOST ALL MY DATA--over 2 years worth.
It was gone. Every IP, every email, every phone number, two years worth of investigations. Gone.
The way the app works is you input directly from site. There is no way to export the data or back up on your end. That is what the app is paid to do.
The app owner said their AWS Amazon server failed.
I looked up amazon heath status and that was a lie.
He said they didn't back it up and it was gone.
I asked him how a data management co could possibly not be backing up as required by law.
He called me ignorant, incompetent, a rotten apple, mentally ill and told me he'd rather just refund me than explain himself to me and that he'd be processing my refund. He then disabled my access to the app so I could not even determine if I could retrieve or restore my data.
So I left him a 1 star review
So he responded in retaliation said he'd be keeping my money and then continued to harass me.
I told him I'd be reporting him for his price fraud as well and he then went into his site, modified his page and responded with an updated web page and "USD has always been there"
Little did he know I'd already recorded his entire site including the checkout so I caught him modifying his web page to conceal the fraud.
I called him out, and he finally admitted it.
Then he continued to call me names over and over.
I asked SIX TIMES for him to stop contacting me.
Ecwid was copied THIS ENTIRE TIME.
So then I had to file a paypal dispute.
I included the screenshot where he said he disabled my access and was going to refund me.
He responded providing falsified screenshots showing I was an "ACTIVE USER"
The app was completely removed from my site, so this was a lie.
Ecwid emailed me and said they were so sorry he was so mean to me, but could I please cancel my dispute because it was affecting this app's workflow and Ecwid needs the apps for their Indian market.
WHAT??? I told them I was disappointed they would place more value on their own profit from someone violating all these laws and committing fraud -- than protecting their customers. So I called Paypal to appeal and recorded the conversation.
I confirmed THREE TIMES this man sent false records in to try to keep my money.
They refunded my money after 7 days of fighting.
I followed up with Ecwid, again, who had been on every single email witnessing everything and asked them to call me to discuss the app.
They refused.
I found the app was overbilling as well--they renewed my account the day I paid instead of waiting until my expiration, thus stealing the 25 days I had previously paid for.
I informed them I had additional serious information and needed contact and they refused.
For 3 weeks I asked for legal or someone to contact me. They finally did...
They responded and said they felt I was just emotional and they wouldn't be taking action.
The app falsely advertised the price of the app
The app failed to provide a service it was paid to provide
The app failed to back up data
The app falsified documents
The app tried to illegally keep my funds and provide false statements during a legal dispute
The app was overbilling
The app owner called me names, harassed me via email, had literal temper tantrums via email
But I was emotional... Maybe if my name was Mike, they wouldn't have called me emotional, maybe they would have just called me...

I was nearly finished setting up my store, which was a time consuming concept, and then it deleted everything and all that time o spent all day trying to set the store up. I am very angry and I want to delete my store which has now got nothing on there. It is also very difficult to do this. Can someone please advise me how to do this? I will be starting my store with big cartel. Thanks for nothing.

Don't listen to the negative reviews about their customer service
I have read several negative reviews about Ecwid's service team and I disagree wholeheartedly. Yes, their service team is based in chat, but I have never received a robot, always a person. They always go above and beyond to solve whatever problems we have presented to them and are always willing to schedule a video conference if they are unable to resolve the issue via chat.
The platform itself is very well handled when it comes to an eCommerce platform and I have found it very simple to integrate within my website designs (other bigger name eCommerce platforms require 3rd party paid apps to integrate into a website other than their platform).
Many of my web design clients are not very tech savvy and they find the Ecwid App simple to navigate and manage their storefront and products.

I cannot recommend this company
I cannot recommend this company. The software is great, but the support is horrible. They use chat for support, and sometimes one only gets a bot. They promised to elevate and respond quickly, which turned into 2 lost days of business. They didn't live up to this and other commitments in my situation. Now I have to start all over building a site. Major stress and lost effort. I paid for a year, and they say no refunds. I'm very disappointed.

Great support, but can't communicate. Also stuck in the pre-digital era
I signed up with Ecwid in April on the recommendation of the company that helped me set up my LLC. While filling out my billing and payout information, I provided the secondary account my business uses to keep track of taxes owed. This account is through Chime Bank. My information was accepted and I was told that I may receive an email regarding additional information needed for verification prior to receiving my first payout from orders received. I made sure not to have my online store front open until I received this email, but I never received any correspondence from Ecwid and my profile showed that I was approved to accept payments. So I opened my store front and accepted a few orders. June 11 was when I first received payment for the orders, but I barely received the payout today, June 20. Prior to receiving my payout I reached out to support for assistance twice. The first time I spoke with them, I was told that my application to receive payouts was in a long queue for manual verification and that it could take up to 4 business days to be approved and for me to receive my payout, or for them to notify me that they need additional info. The second time I spoke with them was after those 4 business days had passed and I still hadn't received my payout or an email. This time they told me pretty much the same thing, only they said it could take up to 2 business days. I finally received an email the day after my 2nd correspondence stating that they don't work with Chime Bank. I uploaded my primary bank info, and then finally received my payout 3 days later.
The support team was very polite and helpful, and I appreciate their assistance. My complaint at this point is that 1) Ecwid should have provided notice of banks they don't work with prior to signing up, or have their software coded to not accept certain routing numbers. 2) In addition, there shouldn't be a need for manual verification when other e-commerce platforms will approve your information almost immediately and send payouts that same day. The long delay in receiving my payout interrupted my ability to purchase materials for other orders and impacted my business by causing some orders to be canceled. 3) If additional information was needed to approve my application, it should have been requested immediately, not 2 1/2 months later. If my application was actually pending for 2 1/2 months prior to reaching out to support, then that's another issue with the company altogether.
I have closed my Ecwid account and moved my store to another e-commerce platform. No issues receiving my payouts there. I wouldn't recommend Ecwid to anyone starting their own business because they aren't diligent in their communication with their customers and their process is apparently too slow.

Misleading, malfunctional, unethical and dishonest company.
I purchased the Ecwid premium plan because they initially promised to connect my ecommerce site with Meta, Ebay, Amazon etc.. I quickly realized that I was not able to be connected to Facebook shop due to configuration and odd policy. I also realized that to be connected to eBay and other platforms " there are additional hidden charges "which was not disclosed to me before I purchased their service". They have also charged tax when I was exempted from tax in the UK in the first year trading as my turnover was below the threshold. To add insult to injury, they were malfunctional with configuration issues and they are not helpful. All in all, a very bad experience and obviously a brand with a very bad culture.
Does NOT work with Stripe!
We wanted to use ecwid for a webstore. The payments would be handled with the stripe integration. In Stripe we enabled the use of Bancontact for Belgian customers. After upgrading to a +$200 plan, it seems Bancontact does not work on our Ecwid Store. Now Ecwid says that not all Stripe options work in Ecwid. So we paid more than 200$ for a platform that says you can handle payments with Stripe, but in real, it works only partial. Without the Bancontact option, it is totally useless for us.

Eigentlich ein gutes Shopsystem mit grossen Mängel
Eigentlich ein gutes Shopsystem für einfache simple Bedürfnisse. Wenn es nur ein wenig in die Tiefe geht, wie Import von Daten, dann hat es Mängel ohne ende. Support ist auch nicht fähig zu helfen. Im Vorfeld wird versprochen dass eine gewünschte Funktion zu 100% funktioniert aber nach dem Kauf will man nichts mehr davon wissen...

This is a pure scam. I got a random message from a US number and then transferred to an HK number saying they had a job offer for me. The website looks so real, which is scary. DO NOT TRUST IT.
