Wonderful immediate help by Melvin on Drive Mate chat, when I realised I had overlooked something. Instantly fixed the issue and was lovely to deal with! Mid trip and so far the overall something has been great and much cheaper and less hassle than a typical car hire.

Do NOT trust them with your vehicle, your investment, or your money.

OWNERS & INVESTORS BEWARE -- The fake positive reviews here are written by their own call center staff to cover up the disaster unfolding behind the scenes. The so-called “management” – Dirk-Jan TE HORST, Gaurav SINHGAL, Ben GOTTO-SMITH & Jake HYDE – are all NOT Australian Nationals and are running this business into the ground, fleecing owners while providing zero customer support, zero transparency, and zero accountability. They even shut down the owners’ group to silence the outrage of those losing money due to their broken, disorganized system.

DRIVEMATE is crumbling, and anyone looking to acquire it will be taking on a financial and legal disaster.

A media exposé is in the works to reveal the scale of this company’s mismanagement, and customer abuse.

It was my first time renting a car with Drive Mate. At first, really disappointed when the owner cancelled the first booking I made. Good thing, I was able to see those with instant booking and was able to talked to Amber and takes customer service to the next level. Super happy with all your help. ZERO STARS!!!!! Absolutely abhorrent company. Avoid at all costs. They are criminal and a total scam.

Having difficulties on my verification progress, retried it for 3 times still can’t pass the verification, said the license are blurred. Reach all the customer services, by WA, email and phone. Thankfully I tried the instagram DM, and the admin, Sebastian, is really the most helpful. Approved my verification process manually, and now im ready to give it a go

They make false commitments

My car met with an accident by a borrowers and they got it fixed after 2 months after several several chasers wasting so much much of my time

They don't even reply to your chats but I kept of messaging as it was my car damaged

In between a guy called Patrick called and committed that you will be paid for unable to use compensation for the entire 2 months as it was delays from Drive mate

Today morning after my several chasers he simply offered me few days compensation and closed the ticket and i lost approximately 1200$

This is just one example, there have been multiple issues which I have faced and resolution was extremely difficult

I can assure you if you will share your car or rent your car from this platform you will just be stuck and loose your hard earned money

Wow, do I have a lot to say about this company. Firstly, I do believe they should be banned altogether for charging PER KM, up to $0.55, plus 10 % tax on each km (but still claiming they are the most affordable rental car company on the market!). Most - if not all - car rental companies I know of offer either unlimited mileage OR a limited mileage of 100 km per day. Drive mate doesn't offer this. It's PER EVERY SINGLE KM DRIVEN! We were not aware of this as it was not advertised clearly, but hidden in the fine print, and they wanted to charge us thousands of dollars for it! I'd rather see them in court then pay for that. This is actually a new thing they're doing, so I can only assume that they weren't making enough money beforehand and got greedy. But I can almost guarantee you that this greed will be their downfall as they will loose a whole lot of customers over it.

Secondly, the customer service is the worst I've ever experienced in my life. The fella with an Indian accent was extremely rude and I got hung up on when I asked to speak to the manager. I am also owed money as they cancelled on me last minute, and was reassured that I would see this money in my account that same week. Months past, I called and called and emailed, no answer. Now, when I try to call it just rings out. However when my wife calls, she gets through straight away. So they blocked me so they don't have to refund me, how clever.

Please, do NOT rent a car through this company, it is extremely unreliable and if something goes wrong, they will not have your best interest in mind, only their own. They also charge a processing fee of 2.5 %, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. As you can probably tell by now, I'm getting angry just by writing this, that's how lowly I think of this company. Stay far away, that's my best advice!

Has potential but clunky poorly designed app leads to lacklustre user experience. The poor support people have to continually deal with basic issues that a decent app could avoid. After using Car Next Door then Uber CarShare, drive mate is simply… meh! Don’t bother. Shame the others are no more.

Horrible customer service and scammers.

I have been trying to get my security deposit back, I have reached out multiple times and they either 1) stop replying or 2) disconnect me from the chat.

The whole experience has been a nightmare, the app is glitchy, and my photo's wouldn't upload when I picked up the car, so it took me 30 minutes of waiting to get in contact with someone and then having to individually upload every photo. I have returned my car and waiting for my $50 deposit back, but can't get in contact with them.

I hired a car you have to pay an inital deposit. Never got it back. Chased 8 times for 8 weeks and then they deleted my account so I couldn’t chase them. Totally nightmare of a company. Steal money. Do not ever use

Nightmare continues with Drive mate!!!
1. My car damage claim from 3rd December 2024 still has not paid out.
2. Even I delisted my car because of their terrible customer service, they are still trying to take membership fee out of my bank.
3. They think that they paid me out for low fuel claim. As a proof they sent me another owners account statement. HUGE PRIVACY BREACH!!!
4. My tickets have been ignored for months.
I wish I’ve never listed my car with them.

They have two different absolute bombs of a vehicle advertised to rent through them in my location, with one quoting “Little Blue” $10,050 a day, and the other quoting “silver charm” $39,000 a day, yet won’t verify me as a legitimate customer with legitimate forms of identification.

Drive mate are hands down the worst company I've had to deal with. I can't stress enough how incompetent they are- from their support staff to their app to their processes. The staff have the most basic English skills and as a result even the most simple of issues is a painful experience. I was accused by several of their staff of stealing a vehicle- I eventually contacted the owner to tell him to report it stolen as drive mate didn't seem to be doing anything other than accusing me of theft. Turns out the vehicle had been recovered days earlier, damaged and in another city. 6months later and they are trying to charge my card for $3900 damages 😂 they sent me a very silly email that was a very interesting take on their terms and conditions and how I am responsible. Have reported them to the fraud team as I had to cancel my card. I still can't believe I'm.hsvjng yo deal with these dodgy scam artists. Avoid at all costs .

Quick to charge, impossible to get refund!
So disappointed with customer service. Ignoring my messages regarding my fuel reimbursement and sending the same generic response. Over 1 month and still no fuel refund.

I have used many companies my entire life for rentals and this is by far the worst experience !
After getting me to sign up, put in all my details, including bank account, and then going through the verification, I have been denied !
I have asked multiple times why, and no one gives an answer because of "privacy" but then I have asked 3 times now for my account to be deleted, for my privacy, yet I am still able to sign in, and am constantly receiving emails telling me to book a vehicle for our next travel !?! Which I am "not allowed to do via their platform and need to find a different car hire agency."
It's got to be a joke. Pity because as a large family this helps us out so much for traveling and when family visit us!!

Worst company ever!! Still waiting for refund after 5 months!!! Have called customer support and they just say the same thing “we have escalated the issue to our financial team” blah blah blah. They don’t care and are not paying back the refund. Will never book through them again.

I had to reverify my identity in order to sign up on the platform. Jeremy was very helpful in guiding me through the whole process and making sure that the issue is resolved. Thumbs up!
