As usual the Hilton Digital check in…

As usual the Hilton Digital check in refused to recognise my CC and tried again at which point my CC was blocked...again! Called the Hotel Double Tree Hilton London Excel, passed around various members of staff including a maintenance guy. Finally got put through to reception reservations, female sounded completely bored, no note I'd requested an upgrade, completely un-interested.

Mayhem in the street until 3am

We stayed on the 10th floor of the Doubletree by Hilton downtown Charlotte June 14, 2025. The room was clean and beds comfortable. Unfortunately, there was a paint- like smell in the room, but I couldn’t or wouldn’t have opened a window because there was so much mayhem in the street. Extremely loud cars, music, people acting out of control. It seemed as if the police were not doing anything to stop it.

It was fine but wouldn't recommend

Very grand building, however our room was very small and dark. Cleaning staff and restaurant/bar staff were lovely. Food in the bar was excellent. Health club facilities are a little worn, but good. Take a padlock for the lockers and spare towels - neither are provided and no one tells you this either.
My friend and I did not have a positive experience checking in. We purchased a voucher for a Hilton/Pure Spa weekend. Communication with Pure Spa customer services to book the actual dates was painful at best. Checking in to the Hilton was also painful - took well over an hour as all the booking details were wrong. Seems there's a very questionable set up whereby the Hilton reception supervisor had to leave a message with some distance manager in Pure Spa to make payment to Hilton for our room before we could check in. The voucher was purchased last spring so one would assume this would have been sorted well before our stay. No real apology from Pure Spa or Hilton for the trouble, very disappointing over all.

Item taken from room. Complaint very poorly dealt with

A swimsuit was taken from our room when we were away from the Dunblane Hydro hotel. The complaint was handled very poorly. There was no initial apology, no sense of urgency, and no sense of responsibility. One week after the incident, the hotel told me they were unable to return the item. I am now in argument with them about how much compensation is due. Given that their staff took the item, and not having it meant I couldn't use the (dirty) pool during my stay, I would have thought they would have been falling over themselves to make sure I was adequate compensated. I'm shocked that Hilton standards have fallen so low.

DoubleTree Hilton Southampton

DoubleTree Hilton Southampton. As a corporate customer my latest trip to this hotel will be my last! Firstly, the food was appalling i couldn't eat it! Then i mistakenly left 3 shirts in the wardrobe and rang the next day very early to be told by the operations manager following an 'investigation' that i should call the police but no-one in the hotel had found the shirts! No customer goodwill and certainly no apology and no mention of compensation. Apparently shirts can 'disappear'!

Tired hotel, poor Resturant..!

Friday 21st Feb 2025 - This is a Hilton with a Marco Pierre White restaurant - 2 big names and should be exceptional but man, what a let down. On check-in, we were not told anything about breakfast location or times, no info on check out times, no info on where our room was, bar area, spa facilities, WiFi etc. The hotel is tired and dated and while clean, it just needs a good refurb and a kind of good old Yorkshire 'kick up the backside' all round including the staff to bring it up to a more reasonable standard. Shower was average sprinkles, heating was super cold then took an age to warm up, cracked lamp shades from weathered aging rather than an accident, scuffs and warped furniture and same for the carpets, corridor walls and so on... yes, it was clean and served as an adequate place to stay over, but for a Hilton and wanting to give my wife a special occasion in an upper-class hotel, it just left us disappointed. The restaurant was also a pretty bad experience. They had no beer on tap (all not working) and sat down at 8pm. By 9:30 it was empty with just us two on a Friday night..!! Starters were a mix of great (the Scotch Egg) and massively poor (the Warmed Sourdough with Butter) which literally was just 5 half small bits of bread in a basic dish and missing the butter..! My wife had cod and was great, I had a £70 Tomahawk steak which was over done and came off the bone cut into slices so kind of defeats the whole Tomahawk shape and
experience, which also meant the large bone was just loose on the board so just got in the way. It also tasted really strange - like a kind of bland cheap rump steak and no char-grilled taste - just massively poor for a mega priced steak. I was given the wrong sauce (peppercorn) and when I said it should be garlic butter, I got a massive block of regular butter with a hint of garlic but all wedged into a gravy boat..??!! They missed my £4 onion rings which I only remembered the next day too. It was a massive let down overall with no atmosphere and again, just us two sat there by 9:30pm on a Friday. Marco would be ashamed if he knew...!! Breakfast was usual hotel average standard and to be fair, was what I expected but only one coffee machine as one not working. Empty buffet stock not being refilled. Left really disappointed and cost a lot of money.!!

Travellers BEWARE of Parking Pariahs

I had the misfortune to visit the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Airport.
As is becoming all too apparent with unscrupulous private parking shysters, the unsuspecting customer visiting this hotel needs to be very wary of the misleading parking regime. The signage is unclear when the time starts and ends, the staff don't have a clue how it works and the harassment from the rogue parking company is wholly disproportionate.
Very surprised DoubleTree choose to appoint such an immoral bunch of money scammers and even more surprised they won't step in to override such malpractice. Talk about the tail wagging the dog.
No warm welcome here. The food is less than mediocre and the staff are so slow.
Genuine travellers BEWARE!!

One night at Cheltenham …

We stayed for one night at the Cheltenham hotel and was far from impressed. Room was OK except the TV had a poor picture and too small for the room. AC was too noisy.
Generally under staffed, as we had to wait over half an hour to get Dinner in the bar last night. It wasn't the fault of the staff, they were just run off their feet, with no sign of management anywhere

Terrace Soul Weekend Overwhelming Success

Terrace Soul Events hosted our first Soul Weekender in November 24 at the Double Tree Hilton Swindon . The feedback we had from all of our guest was overwhelming , this was our 5th Event in Swindon and by far the best yet ! We have already rebooked for 2025 and 2026 . Shannen Downy and the Banqueting Team were awesome , nothing was too much trouble and it really was a pleasure working with them . We Highly recommend DTH Swindon for a succesful Event

I visited 1-4 Jan 25 with 2 of my family

Bad points:

No internal phone in the room to make call to reception, we have to use our mobile phone to make international call to the reception, as our room in the 9th floor.

When we booked we said we will be arriving at 12midday, we arrived at hotel at 14:30pm due to flight delay, we been told the room is not ready yet for 30 minute, we seated until 15:10pm, then waited as there was a queue, when our turn we greeted by young blonde receptionist, she said the room will not be ready for another 30minute, so I said we been told it will be ready in 30 min, she replays by saying is nothing she can do about that, in rude manner.

We party of three, we booked family room, but the room was a standard double room, and they bought fold up bad, so I asked if we can have a room with three single bad, they said come down to reception, we went down and they said the hotel have no room with 3 single bad, I asked if they can call there affiliated attached building to see if they have room and without checking they answer no.

The towel and robe with only for 2 people and we are three, so we have to ask.

I asked for extra matters they also said no, which I was not happy.

On Thursday I went reception and asked to have 3 breakfast boxes as we checking out at 04:30am, and reception advised it was okay, on Sat, 4th Jan, checkout, they only give us 2 breakfast boxes, and of course they cannot do anything about it.

Good point:

1. Housekeeping is great, especially Ahmed form Singal, I think? he was very helpful.

2. Breakfast buffet was very good selection.

Useless

Spoke to Hilton Hotel about a cancellation refund, was told to contact Hotels.com. Spoke to Hotels.com and was told to speak to the hotel! Spoke to the Hilton hotel through the messaging service, the confirmed I could have a refund and asked Hotels.com to process. A week later I spoke to Hotels.com who said they’d need to confirm it, before claiming to have been unable to do so.

Week later, room not cancelled, no refund. Absolute shambles.

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING
TOOK HILTON DOUBLETREE SWINDON 2 PLUS YEARS TO GIVE ME MY HONOURS POINTS. Made reservation from Christmas Eve expecting a pleasant stay...WRONG! Was expecting Emma to call me ( she told me that last week) DIDNT happen. I received an email circa 30 minutes ago informing me the 14twelve restaurant would be closed from 22nd DECEMBER TILL JANUARY.
A 4 star hotel expecting guests to fast??? I called - told Emma gone home. I finally got through to Clevon. Seems he's on his own. Asked to speak to a manager...not possible ...I asked him what us one supposed to do about food. He told me one can get food at the BAR...by now I'm very upset - getting nowhere fast!. I asked him to email me the BAR MENU. Didn't happen. After more calls ( got through to YUNESS ...he left me hanging
Got through to Clevon again. He said he's too busy to send menu. Then put me through to Isabella..I asked her about bar food - does a chef or cook look after food. NO! Barman does
QUITE stressful. One should be informed about the restaurant closure AT TIME OF RESERVATION BOOKING...shocking and unacceptable

That's really pathetic for a 4 star hotel!
Really disappointed to find out at such late stage..thanks for ruining my Christmas!

Stayed at Doubletree Hilton York…

Stayed at Doubletree Hilton York between Friday 6th December and 8th December 2024. Hotel staff unwelcoming unacomadating unhelpful and uninterested in guests. Had a beanie hat stolen from the rest area! Painful elbow burns from the bedding. Toilet roll holders broken. 30 minute wait to check in very long queue with one person manning reception. Tried to charge my card without me present! Room service menu is appalling I mean what hotel does not offer a club sandwich. Rest of menu ridiculously high priced. Due to terrible weather warnings hotel offered nothing to guests who for safety reasons couldn’t leave the hotel. We had to order food in from Deliveroo. Terrible experience with staff who couldn’t care less about you or your stay. Honestly if you’re going to pay this amount of money to stay in a hotel in York go elsewhere!

Alarming discrepancy in Hilton's so-called cancellation policy

There is an alarming discrepancy in Hilton's communication. I recently reserved a room at a Hilton hotel in Minneapolis. The Hilton confirmation email states that the reservation was valid until 11:59 pm on November 20. Yet, I called and tried to cancel the reservation at 10:17, and the Hilton system recording said that the reservation was not cancellable. I then checked my account with Hilton, which also stated that the reservation was not cancellable. I then had to take a third step to wait to speak with a customer service person, who was finally able to cancel the reservation. The customer service person said that they had notified Hilton corporate several times, but the corporation has not fixed the issue.
I have copies of the email.
This feels manipulative on the part of Hilton.

Poor service from start to finish

I stayed in the Doubletree Times Square West. The experience of staying there was an absolutely disappointment from start to finish. The check in staff were rude and unhelpful. They put a hold on my card for the stay plus €100. I check out and they charged my card and did not release the holding deposit. I tried to contact them by email and the form wouldn't work and then I went on chat and got someone who could barely write English who explained that someone will be in touch within 3-5 business days which is really not good enough with you're holding €900 of my money.

Bedbugs and filthy mattresses Dunblane Hydro

We booked Dunblane Hydro for two nights 12&13 Nov 2024 through @myhotelbreak.com. The sheet had bedbugs and I pulled the bedding off to check and the mattress was the same, after getting the manager to come to the room he agreed to move us, however the next one was the same and the mattress was disgusting with stains all over it. I asked to get all the bedding and mattress removed and replaced (it was now after 10.30 pm) and he brought a single size mattress for the double bed. My husband slept on the two seater sofa and I sat in a chair until the morning. We had had a drink with our dinner earlier and couldn’t drive and had no option other than waiting until morning.
