As a tenant, we didn't have a say in which deposit protection scheme our landlord used, but we have been very impressed with the DPS. Our deposit was kept securely by them for the duration of our tenancy and returned to us in a timely manner after our tenancy had ended. The emails I received from DPS have been easy to follow and I am very satisfied with the service from start to finish.

Nightmare to make contact by telephone, to provide some context this deposit was held in the Jersey, Channel Islands scheme. No initial response to my emails, I was eventually able to contact them by using the UK mainland number after being number 17 in the queue eventually speaking to someone after over one hour wait, who informed me that I should contact the Jersey number, he could see that I had been on hold for over an hour and took a common sense approach and transferred me to Jersey. The process was then able to proceed notwithstanding there is a possibility of five days before transfer! And potentially another 5 days for the funds to clear. As a landlord myself I’ve used a deposit scheme and tenant received their deposit within 24-48 hours.

I have received no satisfactory explanation for the delay. I had been patient and had repeatedly attempted to resolve this through the normal channels. That patience had been exhausted and escalated to a complaint but fortunately able to resolve with patience and waiting for over an hour, the positive was being regularly updated what position in the queue that said the Jersey number did not provide but continued to ring incessantly with irritating background music.

I spoke to Mikee when I had an issue with my bank holding the deposit that I was trying to pay to DPS, and I was a little worried that I may lose it.

I had made a mistake on the amount of deposit to be protected and the amount i had sent by bank transfer. Michelle talked me through each step to correct this.
