Insufferable Customer Service just to Close an Account
I have been a customer of DeJapan for many years.
On 2 June 2026, I requested DeJapan to close my account and discard a warehouse item I already paid for (G10092295).
On 3 June, DeJapan Customer Service replied and refused to close the account, citing that I needed to pay for storage fees (100 yen/day, and still accumulating daily) before they could close the account.
I notified them that I could not due to circumstances, and requested a waiver of the fees and again requested closure of the account.
On 3 June, Customer Service replied that they would not close my account, and in addition, would block my account (!) on 2 July if I did not pay for accumulating daily storage fees.
This poor and non-sensible Customer Service reflects badly on DeJapan as a company, and shows a severe lack of empathy on the part of their employees towards customers who are having difficulties.
My only request is that a Manager at DeJapan read this review, step in to close the account, and to correct the terrible Customer Service that their employee is displaying.
(PS: If this Trustpilot review is still visible after 2 June 2026, you will know that DeJapan Management has chosen to ignore this issue, and that it has not been resolved.)

As stated in our Terms and Conditions, an account can only be closed once there are no active or pending transactions. While items purchased through our service are normally expected to be shipped, we understand that circumstances can change and shipping may not always be possible. In such cases, we offer discarding the item as an alternative option, with payment of the applicable discard fee instead of the international shipping costs.
We understand that this situation feels frustrating. Item discard involves actual handling and processing costs, so we are unable to waive the base discard fee itself. However, as an exception, we would be happy to waive the accumulated storage fees for you.
We kindly ask that you settle the remaining discard fees so that we can proceed with the next steps.

Awful. Thought I had bought something only to find out I hadn’t. Shipping costs were more than items purchased by far. Costs $150 to ship a small package. Congrats

Only big packages
They only have big packages, which makes it way more expensive when you don’t buy that much at once. Furthermore, after their price increase, it’s not even an argument anymore that they have cheaper fees.

We understand that our smallest box size may still feel a little large for small items like trading cards and keychains, and we're truly sorry that we are unable to offer Small Packet at this time.
As for the change in fee structure, it's perfectly understandable that the increase in fees may feel less efficient for small, frequent orders for 3rd-party marketplaces (like Mercari, JDirectItems Auction, etc.). If you're ordering from any non-flea market or auction site, our fees are still 300 JPY per item URL, so that may be a route to consider.

helped through US shipping weirdness

One of the last proxies to not increase to 500 yen per item
This was my first shopping experience and i was very pleased overall. I have been proxy shopping from japan for many years and tried a handful of others but with so many changing their service fee to 500 yen per item, DeJapan caught my eye as only having a 300 yen fee so i gave them a go. Overall would say outside select other services that have partnerships with specific storefronts and offer reduced fees/other perks DeJapan is still the cheapest bet if you buy a lot (which i do). Getting the negatives out the way, firstly is they can sometimes take quite a while to purchase your orders and that ties to my second negative which is they have limited purchasing hours so if you find something outside of that or place the order too late you gotta hope 24 hours later its still in stock. Lastly the site can be wonky with surugaya specifically for some reason, adding to the cart will have glitches and sometimes you gotta put all the info in manually, itll still buy it tho. Positives are the lower fees outside of Mercari and select others (that i dont usually buy from anyway), great customer service, quicker than others ive dealt with and very friendly and informative. Dont really have many major complaints, could def use some improvements but from now on its gunna be one of my go-tos.
