I had an inquiry about validity of my Trust. The initial meeting was organised promptly and thorough. I was told that it will require advice from a Barrister. The communication after this meeting was very poor. I had to email several times to know the progress. I felt that my enquiries were ignored. It was only when I said that I would like to lodge a complaint about the service I received, that further progress happened. It took more than 6 months to get a report which I was told that would be available in 6-8 weeks

I have thought long and hard about my experience with Chattertons in relation to my house sale. I cannot go into the details as it would take up too much space. Eventually it went through however I did not receive the proceeds of sale into my account until I chased it at the last moment on a Friday. The sale has completed at 10 in the morning. By 4.00pm still no money into my account. Apparently they needed a copy of a bank statement then they could transfer the monies. This should have been done earlier. I spoke to the Head of Conveyancing who blustered his way round the situation not admitting to their mistake with no apology offered. He suggested I ring my bank and almost accused me of saying that they had my money. The money came through at 5.10pm on the Friday. This whole experience has not been good. Three times a Deed of Covenant had to be drawn up due to school boy errors.

Moved home, bought and sold a number of times with Chattertons. The experience has always been professional and effective in sorting any legal issues in a timely fashion The team has always given , honest constructive advice and worked to get the sales / purchases over the line on time every time. I've worked with other teams and find the cost at Chattertons is competitive.

From first email to last everything went smooth

Sandy managed our house purchase perfectly from start to finish, with really excellent communication throughout.

Firstly I would stress that if I was marking the Solicitor I dealt with this review would be a 5. Unfortunately the solicitor I was dealing with for my case (divorce) was away from the Lincoln office unexpectedly and suddenly. I fully understand this happens and it is unfortunate and out of the businesses hands. My disappointment is that despite phone calls and emails from the 5th November which clearly state the time constraints I was up against I have had no response from another solicitor in the firm. I was promised this would happen by a Trainee Paralegal and its been complete radio silence. I have spent a considerable amount of money for my current circumstances and to be simply ignored is unacceptable. I have been forced to appoint a new solicitor at additional cost due to running through my case again and the subsequent follow up meetings.
