A group of 10 of us booked Boho Retreat for our friend's hen weekend. Having admired Celebration Cottages for years, we were excited to finally book one of their properties. As this was advertised as a newly renovated addition to their collection, we trusted their reputation despite the limited photos. We paid over £4,000 for two nights, expecting a premium experience.

Unfortunately, almost every aspect of the weekend fell well below expectations.

The property was nothing like we anticipated. The exterior was an old, run-down house, the interior had unpleasant odours, and the overall cleanliness was poor. The advertised "karaoke room" was simply two microphones connected to YouTube in the living room. The dining table was basic garden furniture, and there wasn't enough seating in either the lounge or kitchen for 10 guests.

The included experiences were equally disappointing. The "private chef" meal was of an extremely poor standard and nowhere near the quality you would expect from a professional chef. The cocktail-making class offered no consultation beforehand, no choice of cocktails, and the host openly told us we were on the cheapest package. Much of the alcohol was cheap, unbranded spirits, and several cocktails weren't even enjoyed by the group.

The massage experience was completely unacceptable. The property had no suitable treatment room, so massages took place in the living room, with guests expected to undress without proper privacy. Only one therapist was provided for 10 people, resulting in an exhausting schedule that should never have been arranged.

The professional photoshoot was equally disorganised. The photographer had been sent photos of an entirely different property and arrived expecting a wedding shoot rather than a hen party. He had no plan for the session, leaving us to direct the shoot ourselves. More than a month later, we still haven’t received the photographs.

Following our stay, Celebration Cottages admitted that their website was misleading but refused to offer any meaningful refund or compensation.

For a company charging premium prices, the accommodation, experiences and customer service were nowhere near the standard advertised. I would not book with Celebration Cottages again and cannot recommend them.

Had a lovely time celebrating Nikki’s 50th birthday. The accommodation was lovely, and we really enjoyed the outdoor entertainment and the hot tubs. Overall, we had a great stay.

A special mention also goes to the private chef, who was excellent. The meal was absolutely delicious, and I would highly recommend that experience to anyone staying.

However, I was a little disappointed that there was no cold water coming from the sink in our bedroom, which made something as simple as brushing our teeth quite difficult.

The other issue was with the spa treatment. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it. When I entered the treatment room, the therapist simply asked me to remove my top and lie on the bed. There was no towel or cover on the treatment bed—just the black plastic surface. There was no sign that it had been prepared or wiped down between clients, which didn’t feel particularly hygienic. I mentioned that I wasn’t comfortable lying directly on the plastic, and she then found a towel to put down.

I also felt the treatment itself wasn’t as professional as I had expected. I have spa treatments quite regularly, and this certainly didn’t feel like a proper back massage. It was focused mainly on my neck and spine, with very little attention given to my shoulders or the rest of my back.

Apart from those issues, the accommodation itself was lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Stayed at Romano House.

Hot tub leaking all day and night over the carpeted floor, so you can imagine the mould.

16 stray cats outside of the property that would hiss and attack you when you want to sit outside - one actually got into the property without us knowing.

Paid £450 for a BBQ that consisted of 5 dishes - 3 of them salads.

Really wouldn’t recommend.

House was beautiful from afar. It’s got its issues. Piece of carpet missing from the master bedroom, a tester patch of paint being left on the wall, previous leek stains left on the walls. Finger prints all over the glass. Cobwebs everywhere. Dead bugs and dust in the corners.

Hot tub didn’t get warm for over 16 hours into our stay I messaged the owner and he let us have a late checkout for free but didn’t solve the issue of not being able to use the “spa” one of the reasons this place was booked.

The afternoon tea. Not great by a long run. Cakes were dry not moist and certainly wasn’t fresh! The scones shop bought.sandwiches got thrown in the bin as was dry also. Wasn’t very nice. 60% went into the bin. They should be an option for you to choose what you would like to have as the only sandwich which got ate was the tuna all the rest no body liked.

The treatments majority enjoyed them the 2 people who had “pedicures” well if that’s what you would like to call it didn’t enjoy it at all. 30 mins you was supposed to get I got 17 mins and wouldn’t say it was a pedicure. File the nails cut the cuticals, sit your feet in a washing up bowl get abit of cream on them and clear varnish and your done. No massage no hard skin removal nothing. Also having to sit in the hallway to have it done while on a low sofa while the woman is sat on the floor isn’t great when they is beds that apparently “can’t be used” just seems unreal. Everyone who had the facial enjoyed it though so that was a bonus.

For the price it’s really over rated and not worth it. The place needs some time and money spent on it to make it back to what it once properly was.

But not overly happy at all.

We booked Stonewell House through Celebration Cottages for what was supposed to be a luxury two-night stay costing over £2,700. Unfortunately, it became one of the most disappointing holiday experiences we’ve ever had.

On arrival, the property was without power. I appreciate that power outages themselves are outside anyone’s control, and my complaint has never been that the owners caused the outage. The issue is that we paid a premium price for a luxury holiday and lost a substantial part of a two-night stay, yet the response and compensation offered fell far short of what I would expect.

Once the power was restored, the burglar alarm began sounding continuously. We spent the evening repeatedly calling the property owners for assistance while the alarm continued. I have contemporaneous call records showing numerous calls between ourselves and the owners while the issue remained unresolved. The handyman eventually attended but arrived without the necessary tools, and the alarm was not finally resolved until approximately 8:46pm.

By that point, the first evening of our holiday had effectively been lost. We couldn’t enjoy the facilities we had specifically booked, including the hot tub, and ended up leaving the property and spending additional money in Holmfirth because we couldn’t properly use the accommodation.

Even once the alarm had been silenced, the disruption wasn’t over. While we were finally trying to relax, a security guard arrived at the property unannounced. Nobody knocked or informed us they were attending. They let themselves onto the property and, at around 9:50pm, chained up the hot tub for the night. After everything that had already happened, this felt intrusive and completely at odds with the private luxury experience we had paid for.

To add to our disappointment, the property itself was not presented to the standard we expected for accommodation costing over £2,700 for just two nights. In our opinion, parts of the house felt tired and run down and did not reflect the premium price being charged. WE ONLY GOT TO USE THE FACILITIES FOR ONE NIGHT.

What has disappointed me most has been Celebration Cottages’ handling of the complaint. Despite being provided with evidence, including call records, they concluded that the owners acted promptly, that the alarm issue was resolved “as quickly as possible” and that the interruption affected only “a relatively small part” of our stay. For a two-night luxury break, losing virtually the entire first evening is not a small inconvenience, it represents a significant loss of the holiday we paid for.

During a later visit to Holmfirth, several local residents told us that power outages in the area are not unusual. While I cannot independently verify that, it left me concerned that if outages do occur, the financial risk appears to fall almost entirely on paying guests rather than being reflected in a fair resolution when a holiday is significantly disrupted.

The only goodwill gesture offered was a refund of the early check-in fee and £50. Considering the cost of the booking, the loss of use of the property, the additional money we had to spend elsewhere and the overall disruption, I found this wholly inadequate.

I would strongly encourage anyone considering booking Stonewell House through Celebration Cottages to think carefully. Things can go wrong anywhere, but what defines a luxury holiday company is how they deal with those situations. Based on our experience, the customer is left carrying the loss while the company simply closes the complaint and tells you the matter is finished.

Sadly, I cannot recommend either Stonewell House or Celebration Cottages.

Thirteen ladies stayed at Nightfall Cottage for a 50th birthday party celebration, for 2 nights.
It was immaculate, well resourced, well maintained, perfect for our needs!
The bedrooms were lovely, bathrooms spotless, kitchen with two fridges, fabulous outside space (including hot tub) and great living space.
It was a perfect venue for a great weekend!

We stayed at Greenlands farmhouse York for my daughters Hen do. Loved every minute, hot tub was fantastic, the swimming pool was amazing. We were lucky to have a very hot weekend, it was like being abroad with the sun loungers and pool. The private Chef was so good, his cooking was amazing, I would definitely recommend having this, adds a special touch to the weekend. The Location is Not far from York so if you want a day out as we did it’s £25 for a uber. We would definitely recommend celebration cottages , communication was fantastic throughout, thoroughly enjoyed our weekend.

Had my Hen Weekend last week which I booked with this company, the whole experience was a good one.
We didn't book any extras so I cant comment on these service. My stepsister is a master at planning parties and had decorated the cottage. However the communication with the company was good and would recommend.

We stayed with Celebration Cottages for my best friend’s hen weekend, and overall we had a fantastic experience at Blossom Barn 23. From the very beginning, the team were incredibly helpful and responsive, making what could have been a stressful process feel so much easier.

Not only did they help us find the perfect venue, but they also assisted in organising our activities for the weekend. They listened to all of my ideas, answered my many questions with patience, and were always prompt in their responses. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their support throughout the planning process was invaluable.

Before our stay, the team were very open and honest about a few minor maintenance issues and areas that weren’t quite up to their usual standard. We really appreciated this transparency, as it meant we knew exactly what to expect. While the property wasn’t completely spotless and there were a few small faults, these were minor and didn’t detract from what was a wonderful weekend.

The barn itself was perfect for a large group, with plenty of space for everyone to spend time together and celebrate. Our bride had the most amazing weekend, and the property provided the perfect base for making so many special memories.

A huge thank you to the Celebration Cottages team for their excellent communication, honesty, and support. Their attention to detail and willingness to help made the entire experience so much smoother, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone planning a special celebration or group getaway.

The house was absolutely fantastic. Never stayed anywhere like it.

Lauren & her Sister cooked us an amazing 3 course meal. It was perfect. It was like watching MasterChef.

Charlie our singer was great. He had us all dancing straight away. Great voice & great choice of music.

Would like to go to another Cottage to experience it all again.

Just back from an amazing weekend! Can’t fault a single thing, the house is fabulous! We booked the package with the 3 course meal and the singer. The two chefs were amazing and also didn’t leave any mess behind, the food was delicious (and a great variety to choose from)! The singer was fantastic, an hour didn’t feel long enough! From start to finish this experience has been fabulous, I’d definitely book again!

Please exercise caution when booking with this company. Our experience suggests that once payment has been received, customer care and accountability are lacking if issues arise during or after your stay.

Following our visit to Horncastle Estate and Spa, multiple guests contracted hot tub folliculitis. Although the water appeared clear upon arrival, the hot tub was extremely cold, contained gravel at the bottom, and there was no noticeable chlorine smell. The owner did attend to heat the hot tub; however, after consulting medical professionals, we were informed that rapidly heating previously cold water can create ideal conditions for bacterial growth if the water is not properly treated and tested.

The owner confirmed that no chlorine or additional chemicals were added, nor was the water tested during our stay, stating that it had been tested three days earlier. In our opinion, this is unacceptable for a property marketed as a premium luxury venue charging approximately £5,000 for a two-night stay. A hot tub used by guests should be checked and maintained daily.

There were also several cleanliness and maintenance issues throughout the property. Multiple rooms contained large cobwebs, the bathrooms were inadequately stocked (with only half a toilet roll available for 17 guests), and despite being advertised, there was not one towel provided per guest. We also noticed drink spill marks on the glass ceiling and stair areas.

The property was advertised as having two hot tubs, but only one was available upon arrival, which was wholly inadequate for a group of 17 guests.

Additionally, the listing advertised a cinema room; however, this was simply a standard living room. A karaoke machine was also listed as an amenity, but it did not work.

When we raised our concerns with Celebration Cottages, we were informed that they had conducted an “extensive investigation.” In reality, this appeared to consist solely of speaking with the property owner, who naturally denied responsibility.

Most concerningly, 15 out of the 17 guests returned home with rashes and bumps, particularly under their arms. Two guests required antibiotics and were forced to take a full week off work as a result.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The lack of customer service, accountability, and concern for guest welfare was extremely frustrating. Based on our experience, I would not recommend booking with this company. You could get a much better service elsewhere for £5000

We booked the Woodland Retreat through Celebration Cottages for a hen weekend and paid thousands of pounds expecting a high-standard property suitable for a special occasion. Instead, we spent a large part of the weekend dealing with problems that should never have existed in the first place.

The most serious issue was that half of the property had no hot water, including the kitchen and some of the showers. With 17 women staying at the property, this meant sharing limited facilities and being unable to properly use parts of the house as intended. Despite reporting the issue first thing in the morning, we did not have full hot water restored until approximately 6pm on the second evening of our stay.

On arrival, essential supplies were missing and had to be chased. We were left spending our time contacting staff and trying to resolve basic issues rather than enjoying the weekend we had paid for. The outside bin area was overflowing and in an unacceptable state, and the hot tub appeared murky and unclean.

To make matters worse, the property did not match the impression given by the online listing. Furniture and seating shown in the photographs were missing, leaving insufficient seating for our group. The garden also lacked features shown in the advertising, including a shaded area that was particularly important during the extremely hot weather we experienced.

What has frustrated me most is the response afterwards. Although the company acknowledged a number of the issues, they ultimately refused any form of compensation or goodwill gesture. Their position appears to be that because the problems were eventually addressed, no refund is warranted. I completely disagree. When you pay a premium price for a celebration property, you should not have to spend your weekend dealing with missing supplies, cleanliness concerns, inaccurate advertising and a major hot water failure.

This was supposed to be a special hen weekend. Instead, it became a weekend of chasing staff, reporting problems and dealing with issues that should have been resolved before guests arrived. I would not book through Celebration Cottages again and would strongly advise others to consider alternative companies before spending a significant amount of money on one of their properties.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Perfect Hen Party Getaway

We stayed at Botanic Retreat & Spa in Doncaster for a one-night hen party with 11 ladies, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish.

The venue itself is stunning, beautifully decorated, spacious, and ideal for a group celebration. As soon as we arrived, we felt relaxed and ready to enjoy the weekend together.

The afternoon tea by Sally was fantastic, with a wonderful selection of delicious treats that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We were also treated to spa treatments by two amazing ladies, who made us all feel pampered and relaxed. Their professionalism and friendly approach really added something special to the experience.

A huge thank you also goes to our private chef, Lorna. The three-course meal she prepared for us was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and one of the highlights of our stay. Every course was enjoyed by the whole group, and it felt like a real luxury experience.

The combination of great food, relaxing treatments, and quality time with friends made for an unforgettable hen party. We made so many wonderful memories and couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate.

I would highly recommend Botanic Retreat & Spa in Doncaster to anyone planning a hen party, birthday celebration, or special getaway. We left already talking about when we can come back! 💕🥂

Wowsers!!! What a weekend we had at lower flass farm in clithero. The accommodation was fantastic, lots of space, a games room, a party/disco/karaoke room, two hot tubs, outdoor seating, comfy beds, beautiful countryside views. It's been absolutely amazing. The activities were also top notch, all arranged by celebration cottages. I can recommend every one of them especially the 3 course meal cooked by the chefs who also cleaned up afterwards! 2 nights was just not enough, I didn't want to leave. Thank you for making an unforgettable weekend 👍

Stayed at bowlands retreat for a hen party weekend. Brilliant from start to finish. All activities sorted for us, private chef, butlers & the owner bringing his horse for pictures for the cowboy themed day! Highly recommend x

We have just returned from a hen party held at Bowlands Party Retreat, organised by Celebration Cottages.
It has been perfect from start to finish. The house is amazing with a games room, party room, hot tubs and plenty of bedrooms to accommodate everyone.
We had private chefs that catered for us over the weekend, pizzas, afternoon tea and a 3 course evening meal. All very delicious and would highly recommend using.
We had cocktail making, live drawing and butlers in the buff who added a great surprise to the party. Again would highly recommend.

Just had a brilliant weekend away at the Bowland Party Retreat. The property was amazing, with my favourite parts being the hot tubs and disco room with pole! All activities were well planned and great fun. I can highly recommend the life drawing and cocktail making!! The owner was brilliant and brought round a white horse and some lambs to see us!! The location was excellent too with some beautiful countryside. We took a short walk and saw a deer and rabbit ❤️.
