Following a confusing sequence of events, I ended up with Car Call. Due to the out-of-hours call, I got sent to another company called Kindertons. They took the details and sent me a laughable contract to hire a car. They made it clear that it was not a Courtesy car and was on credit. (I was smelling a Rat already) Bearing in mind that the 3rd party had already admitted fault in writing, they had a £1,500 insurance excess on the car hire contract. Although, if I wanted to reduce the risk, I should pay £24.00 a day (not even a proper Collision Damage Waiver). Why would I wish to pay an estimated £168 when the accident was not my fault? Having been caught by a dodgy car hire company that added imaginary scratches to a rental car, I see the service as a joke and do not trust the whole industry. I will be doing without a car, but aim to submit a bill for a taxi as and when needed. I will also be looking for a decent insurer that does not use these claims handlers. My advice is to read their contracts very carefully. I certainly won’t be signing it!

Quick and easy with great service. Had a car delivered and mine picked up less then 24 hours after initiating the claim. Car repaired and delivered back later that week. No hassle or fuss. Customer service team were polite and helpful. Would highly recommend

A very disappointing service right from the start. I wish there were no stars, CarCall doesn't deserve even a single star. It started off with a referral to these non-fault claim handlers, everything went downhill from there, and up to now, it's still going on.

The list is too long, but includes;
- being made to wait for over 6hours for a recovery truck,
- having to find my own way home after they took my vehicle further away from the accident scene instead of towards my home address,
- I had to find my own way home from almost 200miles away from about 7pm. They didn't care about how I would get home, they just said find your own way home.
- the advisor lied that I had agreed to cheap aftermarket parts being fitted to my vehicle(I have recordings to prove that),
- The advisor flatly refused to accept that he had lied despite very clear evidence, the management wouldn't accept any mistakes made by the employee too simply because they "have been operating for more than 10 years"
- the vehicle was repaired to an unsatisfactory standard and they initially refused to rectify a problem with their aftermarket component/part which could not be recognised by my vehicle's control unit,
- they let my van be parked for about a month because they didn't want to rectify their repairer's mistake,
when they finally agreed to take my vehicle to the local garage the repairs were completed in less than an hour. They removed the faulty aftermarket component and the vehicle started driving as it should, the cost of labour and parts was around £100 or so
- the vehicle hire company took back its courtesy vehicle as they couldn't justify CarCall's refusal to rectify a very clear problem(explained above). Three days without a vehicle and then they got me something FAR from a LIKE-FOR-LIKE replacement, the replacement vehicle was more like a matchbox if compared to my own vehicle
If I had known about this dodgy business I wouldn't have dealt with them, I still wish I had dealt with the 3rd party's insurance instead. I am sure I would have got far better customer service than this rubbish.
The final straw is when the matchbox-vehicle hire took an amount from my account and no one can explain what its for. CarCall organised for the matchbox-vehicle to be dropped off at my address but did not arrange for the hire company to pick-up the vehicle. The vehicle stayed at my address for a further 3days, I assume that CarCall refused to pay for their mistake and I have now been charged for that.

It is best for anyone to choose their own claims handler and not to go with the likes of dodgy/dubious companies such as CarCall. I wonder what else is yet to come in terms of disappointments with this CarCall as this case is not yet closed.
