Camino del Norte from San Sebastian to Bilbao
I booked the Camino del Norte section from San Sebastian to Bilbao. It was a very pleasant and smooth experience. The service team responded to my inquiries quickly before and during the trip. The hotels were very clean and convenient; some exceeded my expectations. The luggage transfers were reliable, and all arrived on time.

They do the bare minimum
To be fair, CaminoWays met their contractual agreement but that was it. The daily bag transfer by Xacotrans was brilliant and reliable. Some accommodation was albergues while others were lovely country cottages off the camino - although these required taxis and this usually meant a late start on those mornings. While we were in Spain our penultimate night was changed from three individual rooms to one single and a twin - we had to make our own arrangements for an alternative room in an alternative hotel. The final hotel (Linares rooms) placed us not in their main hotel but down an alleyway and my room was directly above a bar which stayed open until 4:30AM - plus it had bed bugs so I came home covered in bites. I also saw bed bugs crawling across my bed two mornings in different hotels. Finally, talking to other peregrinos, other companies provide their customers with far more useful information about the route and logistical information for arriving in Santiago. Overall, it felt as though CaminoWays did the bare minimum that they were required to and were happy to pocket the rest of the money. I will not be recommending them to any of my friends interested in walking the Camino.

You’re never too old!
Our second time with CaminoWays and again they did not disappoint! Everything from bag pickup and delivery, and hotel accommodation went smoothly. Only one hiccup occurred and they were on it immediately and fixed it. Highly recommend them for the Camino.

The inns where we stayed were lovely…
The inns where we stayed were lovely with ample and delicious food. The innkeepers were gracious hosts. The problem was two of the original seven members of our group were unable to attend the trip, one of whom cancelled several months in advance and the other two-three weeks in advance due to health issues. This made checking in difficult at several locations because the names the inns had listed did not match who actually was on the trip. Also our entire reservation was cancelled for 3 members of our remaining group of 5 at the end of our trip when it should have only been one person's reservation cancelled. We were therefore separated for our last 3 nights on the trip when we were assured the 5 of us would be together. We did not feel Camino Ways handled the changes appropriately. We were not notified in advance of the changes. We found out at the last minute. A better website would have helped. An app would be wonderful.

The Right walking Shoe
The walk was amazing, in and of itself. The nightly accommodations were perfect. The hotel on the Square was the best!!! There are many rest stops along the way.
It's a hill every day.
Having the right walking shoe for the Camino, is a must.

My Camino adventure booked through Camino Ways was a memorable and special experience. Having it arranged through Camino Ways made everything so much easier. The accommodation and luggage transfers were thoughtfully arranged and worked smoothly. Three of the hotels were a bit out of the way. Having hotel nights pre booked through Camino Ways abled me to relax and focus on enjoying the walking, beautiful scenery and the experience itself. I will remember this wonderful adventure for a long time and as a solo traveller I am so pleased I chose to book it this way.

Great service to simplify your camino walk
Booking process was easy.
We missed their webinar due to scheduling conflicts. Would of been helpful if there was a recording we could have watched.
The CW link to install the camino trails route onto our phones was especially helpful for walking in busier cities.
Luggage service was great. Always had our luggage delivered before reaching next hotel.
Hotel breakfast and supper was decent.
Hotels were basic, but what you would expect for small rural communities.
CaminoWays was great for booking all of the above so we didn’t have to worry about anything.
Some better documentation of what to expect along the route would have been appreciated. We found another website that was helpful.

Another great trip with Caminoways.
This is my second trip using Caminoways which I think speaks volumes. I have just completed the Portuguese Camino having completed the Norte two years ago. I have found booking with Caminoways seamless and easy and any requests easily met. I find the peace of mind gained from baggage transfer and knowing my accommodation has been booked in advance allows me to enjoy the days walking. I have used both standard and superior accommodation and have found them both to be excellent, with the exception of one hotel which was adequate and feeedback was given to Caminoways. A problem at the airport on our outward journey meant we arrived in Porto a day late but a phone call to Caminoways and a chat with an helpful member of staff ensured this caused no issue. I have been very happy with Caminoways and will use them again.
