Another great trip with Caminoways.
This is my second trip using Caminoways which I think speaks volumes. I have just completed the Portuguese Camino having completed the Norte two years ago. I have found booking with Caminoways seamless and easy and any requests easily met. I find the peace of mind gained from baggage transfer and knowing my accommodation has been booked in advance allows me to enjoy the days walking. I have used both standard and superior accommodation and have found them both to be excellent, with the exception of one hotel which was adequate and feeedback was given to Caminoways. A problem at the airport on our outward journey meant we arrived in Porto a day late but a phone call to Caminoways and a chat with an helpful member of staff ensured this caused no issue. I have been very happy with Caminoways and will use them again.

Good but room for improvement
Camino Ways usually promptly replied to email requests prior to departure.
Better maps should have been provided; not just a link to Google maps, which was very difficult to access any info from Camino Ways link.
More thorough Info about each place along the route would have been appreciated.
While hiking, when we needed help from Camino Ways, they were prompt in responding on What's App.
One of their local taxi contacts in Caldas de Reis never replied/called back. No taxis were available on Sun. (because of some festival??); Camino Ways said to wait a while. Well, we had already been waiting awhile and wanted to get to the hotel; therefore, we walked to the hotel. That never should have happened as it did. Camino Ways needs to be more aware of the local situation and attend to matters for its hiking customers.
If hiking the Camino again, most likely would not use Camino Ways.

The taxi in Caldas de Reis is the part we're sorry about. If the local taxis weren't running that Sunday, we should have established that and arranged something else rather than leaving you to walk it.
On the maps and the route information, we're working on both.
We're glad the email and WhatsApp support were there when you needed them. On the day it mattered most, we didn't do enough with them.
If you do walk the Camino again, we'd like the chance to get it right.

I loved the baggage transfer..we just had to put our luggage down by 8am and then we saw it at our next hotel at end of day..
loved having our arrangements all set up and we each had our own bathroom which was huge and made a difference..thank you!!

Well worth the effort.
It was great , our accommodation was excellant, however the food in 2 places was not good. Pontevedra had the best meal, it was fantastic, with Arcade second. Would it have it been possible to not have the evening meal included in all places. Sometimes it is great to wonder through the town and select something. It was so nice to have a lift , or in one place , ground floor, in every place. We had no problem with the organization of the walk and delivery of the cases, seemless. Eveyone should do the Camino and having your cases delivered is the best.

Accommodation was v disappointing in…
Accommodation was v disappointing in two places especially- As Chivas casa rural v nice host but in the middle of nowhere n slightly off Camino. Second place 4k outside Padrón Casa de Meixida Muíños we were v disappointed with the food n especially the location and unfortunately we had to spend 2 nights there. I rang your office to request a change to other accommodation but was told it wasn’t possible. When we left above accommodation after first night we were heading for Teóbut we discovered Teó is not a town r village so we were stuck in middle of nowhere. Plus your instructions were to ring the host n get him to collect us to bring us back to the accommodation n then following day he was to bring us back to Teó . Illogical!
Finally I would have expected more detailed description of walks n what we could expect along the way.
I met others along the way who were also going to complain to you. This is on behalf of the four of us.

Hi Joan, thank you for taking the time to share this feedback on behalf of your group and we're sorry that the accommodation on these stages was disappointing.
Accommodation options are very limited in some parts of the Portuguese Way. In Arcade, we use a small selection of rural cottages close to the route, which is why As Chivas is slightly off the Camino. For the Teo stage, the area is made up of small, scattered parishes rather than one town or village. For that reason, a pick-up and drop-off service is arranged so that walkers can return to the exact point where they finished the previous day. We understand that this was not clear to you and we regret the confusion it caused on the trail.
We're especially sorry about your two nights at A Meixida. We have taken your comments, along with other feedback, very seriously. Your comments on route descriptions have also been passed on to our team so that we can give walkers more detail on what to expect each day.
Thank you again for your honesty. We hope the Camino itself still left you and your companions with some good memories.
Would not use
The accommodations were lovely, but the really terrible website and inability to keep our group of 5 together in the same hotel made our trip with Camino Ways unacceptable. I would not use this agency.

We understand how important it was for your group to stay together. Your group's trip was arranged under two separate bookings, made at different times. When the second booking came in, our team worked to place everyone in the same accommodation wherever availability allowed. We were able to do this for all but two nights, and we let you know about those nights in advance. We appreciate that this was still disappointing.
We have also shared your comments about our website with our team, as we are always working to improve the experience for our pilgrims. We hope the Camino itself left you with good memories!
Excellent experience
Excellent experience: luggage transfers went smoothly - always arriving early; hotels were very comfortable with fabulous breakfast buffets and close to the Francigena route - with the exception of one, however we were picked up from town and driven to the “castello” which was the fanciest place we stayed with a pool and extra special dinner.
The booking process seemed easy for our group leader and we received prompt information about the trip.
I would highly recommend Camino Ways!

Thank you! Luggage arriving early is exactly what it should do, and it's good to hear the hotels and those breakfast buffets held up along the way.
The castello is a lovely one to end on. Being slightly off the route can be a nuisance or it can be the night everyone remembers and with a pickup laid on and a dinner like that, it clearly landed on the right side.

Irish company which appeared not to know the region: Made typos in itinerary like listing the bed-and-breakfast in wrong village, wanting me to walk past the destination to have a taxi drive me back, not opening a dialogue when they were unable to get me a place to sleep, map was useless and couldn't be opened, knew nothing about return transport possibilities, etc. etc.

This is our third time with Camiño ways. We find the process of organising the walk easy. The walks are quite cost effective. Accommodation is always comfortable with breakfast every morning and most dinners organised for us. Baggage collection and transfers are easy and well organised

An impressive schedule from Caminoways. The Paradors and Casas enhanced our experience. Yet again, the luggage transfer was seamless.
An area of improvement would be clarity over the dinner experience. Some places included wine, others didn't. Where we had to dine away from the hotels, it would have been good to be advised of dinner budget.

Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The hotels were far from the towns, and the quality of the accommodations varied considerably. I recommend asking for each hotel’s name and address before booking so you can check its location and reviews.
