We had a great trip around Scandinavia. We were able to tailor our itinerary and the advance information Byway provided was clear and comprehensive. We enjoyed having all the trains and hotels booked, but then being free to do what we wished at each location. Byway’s customer service during our holiday was excellent and if there were any queries the Byway team replied by WhatsApp within minutes.

Really fantastic company
Really fantastic company - helped us to craft our perfect honeymoon fitting in everything we wanted, gave lots of information and prepared a very useful itinerary for before we went giving details of our tickets and everything we needed to do beforehand, and when we were actually on holiday, provided round the clock advice and helped iron out any issues with travel we encountered. I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

We had a great rail adventure. From discussing options, to getting organised to enjoying our journey, team were thoughtful and interested, knowledgeable and prompt with replies. Enough back up for queries, enough flexibility to do our own thing and easily contactable if needed.

Byway were incredibly helpful…
Byway were incredibly helpful throughout the planning, booking and travelling stages of my visit to Copenhagen. Not all the trains ran on time, so their back up support was invaluable. They helped me select good quality budget accommodation and the whole process was smooth from start to finish.

Interesting and flexible itinerary
The flexibility of the itinerary was a real bonus along with the really helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed travelling by train - lots of time to just gaze as well as read a few books over the whole journey there and back. The hotels were also well chosen with good proximity to city/village life.

Byways pre travel support was…
Byways pre travel support was excellent. They helped me get everything onto an app, which then made the journey very easy, and I'm not great at IT.
The train times all fitted comfortably together, with good pre booked seats.

Had a great holiday
Had a great holiday, inter-railing through Switzerland, Italy and France. All very well organised by Byway. They notified us of a train strike in Italy and helpfully detailed an alternative train which would be running, so it all went very smoothly. The hotels are 4*. Only the one in Paris we were less keen on.

Double check everything with this rather good company
We had excellent service on a trip to Spain and so booked a more complicated adventure. Arranging the second trip because a bit tortuous because they came up with one suggestion after the other neither of which tied in with the clear dates I had given them at the start. But we got there in the end. But you do need to double check everything. There was a not insignificant error about the boarding terminal for a ferry - possibly one which not too many customers use but it did feel a bit hairy at the time.
It is important to note that they make their money from the hotels and not the rail travel. They were rather firm with me that they were not interested in getting you from A to B even if, in my reading, the Man at Seat61 slightly implies that.
They are wonderfully good at dealing with people who are not always 100% ease with modern technology and this is impressive.
We had a problem with a delayed ferry which meant that we missed our booked train. The service from the emergency WhatsApp was speedy warm and faultless. We could not have asked for more.
Travelling by train feels a real adventure and you get so much more of an idea of travelling and distance than going by air.

We’re also really pleased that you felt the support was accessible and supportive throughout, but we’re very sorry that arranging your second trip felt more difficult than the first. We always want to make the planning stages as easy as possible, and we're sorry that it didn't feel that way this time around.
After reviewing the correspondence, there was definitely more back and forth than expected to create an itinerary that balanced your preference for a faster journey with our goal of creating routes that are enjoyable and reliable. Unfortunately, there was also a technical issue affecting the dates, and we sincerely apologise for the confusion this caused. We’re also sorry about the ferry terminal information. The ferry operator had recently changed the check in location for certain sailings, and regrettably we were not made aware of this update in time. We have since updated our documentation and guidance so future customers are directed to the correct check in point.
Thank you again for your constructive feedback. We’re so pleased you embraced the adventure of travelling with us twice, and we hope to help you plan more trips in the future too.

Appreciate wonderful landscapes by train
Our first Byway rail trip through Alsace to Switzerland. Everything went smoothly and comfortably. We stayed in a variety of different hotels, all of which were lovely and well located. Cannot recommend more highly travelling around Switzerland by rail organised by Byway who responded to our every request when setting up this trip for us. Definitely would like to do another Byway rail trip.

Paris to Pompeii and back again
Just returned from a 2 week trip from London to Pompeii. Byway provided excellent guidance and support. All travel went without a hitch and all hotels were superb. Can’t recommend this company highly enough. Already thinking about our next trip with them.

Byways - fantastic service
We recently took a trip organised by Byways Travel to Vienna. All the hotels we stayed in were good quality with excellent breakfasts. The trains were comfortable and relaxing. We had one train which was cancelled, I used the WhatsApp service we had been given by Byways and within 5 minutes they had found an alternative train and booked us on - amazing service.
