Byways were amazing from planning to preparing a schedule for our trip & the support during our trip. They suggested stopping places along the way & booked us into really good hotels. We had 2 delayed trains & missed one of our connections & they sorted a reservation on another train straight away & contacted our hotel to say we’d be arriving later. They’re the best travel team I’ve dealt with & would highly recommend if you want to plan a stress free rail holiday.

Using Byway was a great experience. Everything about it was just convenient and took all the stress out of booking. The prices were very reasonable and I couldn't have found better accommodation myself. I'd highly recommend anyone who wants to avoid planes or see a few different cities using them.

This was our third trip with Byway and everything went just as well as previous two holidays. This time it was a trip to Switzerland. It’s great to have everything planned and sorted, and the hotels they have organised so far have been great (there’s a good choice for a range of budgets and preferences). We particularly appreciate the WhatsApp feature while we’re away - we know we have a rapid response service for anything that might arise. We have also done self directed Interrail trips but Byway do take the load off and make the process so much easier. They are very helpful in the planning stage as well as once it’s booked. We love the tailored journey guides they create to give you info on each place you’re staying; definitely worth reading. We’ll be using them again.

Our first all rail adventure to Budapest. The company organised the whole trip including great hotels. They were there when we needed their 24/7 support and put us back on track( sorry couldn’t resist)! Supplied plenty of pre trip info with useful website info and instruction. Highly recommended company for a stress free all rail adventure.

It's only when something goes wrong that you truly discover how good the service provided by any organisation actually is. Byway were fantastic when an Italian rail strike stranded us in Monza. Sorted it out quickly and we were able to get on our way. The organisation and instructions provided were all excellent.

From booking our trip to actually travelling, Byway made it so easy. We didn’t encounter any issues with the passes, or the trains, or the hotels, but we were reassured that they were on hand if needed via WhatsApp. We had a fabulous trip and wouldn’t hesitate to use Byway again.

From initial planning to booking our rail holiday ByWay we're very supportive. The personalised journey guide gives you step by step details for your holiday. Our trip took us from Glasgow then London/Paris, Turin, Venice, Rome, then home journey back via Zurich. Just returned from our second Byway holiday, this time to Amsterdam, Hamburg and Copenhagen. This company really understands how to remove the hassle from organising rail travel in Europe and the hotel accommodation they recommend is excellent in our experience. Customised itineraries are no problem and all arrangements are made efficiently with excellent information provided for all steps in the journey. A first class service in every respect.

Great trip, great support. Can't fault it!

I would have written a 5* review on the super support available over WhatsApp when a snarlup on the Paris metro caused me to miss a connecting train. The saviour on the other end simply swapped reservations to a later train, and checked that I made that one. And I was also impressed by the quality of the accommodation and the train seats. I will definitely book with them again.

We’re both in our 70s and have just travelled down to visit family in the south of France. We’ve previously flown and I was rather apprehensive about making the journey by rail, especially as my husband now needs assistance at large stations. I needn’t have worried! Byway had organised everything perfectly, and both the hotels they chose for us in Paris were excellent and ideally located. The preparatory Zoom workshop on how to manage rail passes etc was extremely helpful too.
We’ll definitely use Byway for this trip again, and I can’t wait to explore other destinations as well!

In our 70s and having never used extended international rail travel we appreciated the help and support from the Byway team. They especially helped during a ‘glitch’ with the Interail pass— they kept us contacted and calm! Would definitely recommend this company —especially if you have concerns about the impact of flying on the environment .

I recently took my first interrailing trip from August to September 2026. It was good to travel by rail instead of flying because you get to see much more of a Country by staying however many days you like in each City. From France travelled to various regions in Italy- Milan, Venice and Florence Tuscany. Also while in Florence when to cinque Terra and a superb winery and tasted some quality wines.
Another bonus of booking with Byway for your first interrail experience was the location of the hotels in each city. Walking distance of each train station. I even stayed overnight in chambery a pretty French town or City and had dinner in a fabulous French restaurant and its was so delicious. Plate was clean.
Overall a fantastic experience and I will definitely book with byway again.

The trip went almost exactly as planned with train journeys pretty well on time and as advertised. Support was available for one small hitch.
Accommodation was good with arrival details very well explained.

At the start I liked the journey planner on the website It gives the opportunity to select destinations and look at the suggested hotels/accommodation without any commitment. From there the booking process was easy, once a few tweaks to the journey were made.

One of best parts the whole process was the webinar, training, on how to use Interrail with all sorts of hints and tips.

All our train bookings and hotels went smoothly. Just one train cancelled which was sorted very quickly with a quick contact via WhatsApp as well as help from the staff at Heidelberg station.
All contacts at all stages with Byways were handled excellently by friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was great to have that confidence for our first ever Interrail trip, at age 70. Will definitely save up and do this again.

Excellent choice of hotels in great locations provided by Byway for our holidays in Belgium, Germany and Amsterdam. Also provided recommendations for places to visit and online support for any requirements. Generally more relaxing approach to travel overland than the hassles of airport travel.

Excellent planning. Answered all my questions before we went. The Interrail zoom was very helpful too. Felt confident we would be supported if there were any problems.
We used Byway Travel to go from Cheltenham to Paris, Berlin, Dresden and Cologne, then back to Cheltenham. Everything worked really well with the trains and the accommodation.
Would use Byway Travel again.

Taken two trips with family both extremely well organised and supported. Would definitely recommend.
