Unreliable

This spring we are processing around 5,000 orders per week, and our team are doing a remarkable job at keeping up with this, but unfortunately, couriers run at around 98% fulfilment, meaning a certain number experience a short delay regardless of our endeavours; the same as any other company experiences. Similarly, we have suffered the occasional, unforeseen item becoming out of stock due to this unprecedented demand. We completely appreciate that this is frustrating, and our team resolve these issues very quickly. We commit to getting back to all customers with a resolution within one working day in these cases, a service level we always achieve, and a level of service that we are proud of in a time when customer service standards everywhere are disappearing.

We have a voicemail/email service for delivery queries so as to capture all details so that our staff can most efficiently resolve them. Our phone lines are manned Mon-Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm and answered promptly.

Regrettably, the small number of disappointed customers are much more likely to leave a negative review than the *literal* thousands that are delighted each and every week.

I have ordered from this company on a…

I have ordered from this company on a number of occasions and if you follow their instructions the seeds do well. Today I contacted them as realised i had made a mistake in ordering seeds when i really needed wildflower plants instead so asked if i could exchange my order, their customer services manager got straight back to me and agreed I could and gave me all the information I needed to so so easily and so i will definitely continue to use then going forward.

Incomplete order - poor service

Only half of my order was delivered, with no explanation provided. When you try to phone about an existing order you get put through to an answer phone.

I eventually spoke to someone who explained I would have to wait a week for the rest of my order, which completely messes up my gardening plans, and I would never have placed an order if I had know. I would strongly recommend finding someone more reliable.

Purchased a few hundred narcissi and…

Purchased a few hundred narcissi and tulip bulbs in Autumn 2024 from Boston Seeds Direct and they arrived superbly packed and all labelled with their respective names. Arrived quickly and all the bulbs of the best quality. It is now February and every bulb has come up and they all look amazingly healthy and our display this year is going to be the best ever. Thank you Boston Seeds. A great company that I can 100% recommend.

Seed that has not grown ?

I bought their winter grass seed four months ago and sowed it and it has not grown. I am Very disappointed in the product. I am even more disappointed in myself to only now read other people’s reviews reporting that their seed does not grow - when we are buying this seed expecting it to see it grow. We don’t want to be buying a whole bag of nothing!

Thanks for the info but this isn't a pattern of events we recognise, and we don't have lots of reviews suggesting our seed doesn't grow. To the contrary, we sell DEFRA certified grass seed, with proven very germination rates. We also display dozens of genuine customer before and after photos on our website. If the seed hasn't grown, it points to a problem with the process.

Regrettably, the small number of disappointed customers are much more likely to leave a negative review than the *literal* thousands that are delighted each and every week.

First class product and first class customer service too!

My 85 year old dad has been fighting to get his lawn back to condition for months, this seed has been amazing and he has finally achieved what he was aiming for.
He ordered grass seed from this company and the delivery companies caused issues with two deliveries. Customer service were amazing dealing with the situation, they resolved it quickly and with courtesy. He was most impressed with not only the product but also the company itself.
He cannot recommend it highly enough.

I’ve used the products before and they worked really well. There was a mistake this time I ordered two different products but got two identical ones. This was remedied straightaway with an appropriate apology. I didn’t have to return the extra one. Nice people to do business with

great wild flower plugs to mix in cottage garden

I ordered wild flowers that will mix well with a cottage garden border. They are strong plants, already doubled in size. I will definitely use you again, as I'm trying to attract lots of butterflies and bees and it's working. Our garden has more butterflies and insects than I've seen anywhere so far this year.

Excellent service

I ordered despite bad reviews. I'm sure that many people only turn to giving a review when it is bad but never when it is good. I have also been guilty of that. Therefore any review platform must be skewed towards negative. My experience with Boston seeds was excellent, the price was good and delivery was bang on time. I'm sowing the seed tomorrow so hoping this review is not premature. Thankyou

Followed all the instructions and zero growth or germination, have been watering and all preparation was done. Really disappointed considering the cost

Boston Grass Seeds

Brilliant customer service. They were extremly courteous and dealt with my concern promptly and professionally with very helpful advice on my recent purchase of winter green grass seeds. Their premier range of lawn grass seeds which I purchased previously for over-seeding is also highly recommended. Will definitely buy again.

Wrong product and late delivery

I ordered a small bag of premium grass seeds and one small bag of winter fertilizer on a Friday, both advertised as "next day delivery". I received the grass seeds on Tuesday, but the "Economy" instead of the "Premium" I paid for. The fertilizer ended up being delivered only on Thursday - not even close of next day delivery. I left a message on their website but no replies. Very disappointing.

Excellent results

Bought this seed to grass a shaded area beneath a large magnolia tree. It germinated within a couple of days and is covering this wide area really well. Will order more for use in other shaded places in the garden.
