I went to the Allergy and Free From show yesterday and was really excited about trying a doughnut from Borough 22 as I've seen all the insta posts on them and heard good things. After queueing for a half hour, I got a vanilla glazed donought and ate it at home. I got them in the afternoon and was expecting a fresh batch (given they had them delivered straight from their shop). The first bite was really disappointing, very dense, dry and stodgy dough, difficult to get down, and the middle looked as if it hadn't been fully cooked through. I was very disappointed, not worth the £5. I understand it's difficult to make gf products, but I just don't get all the hype around this place if this is the standard to expect

I ordered these as part of a birthday celebration and loved them. We even ended up freezing some and they tasted good too. Looking forward to buying them again in the future. They also feel a lot more filling than a normal doughnut (from what I remember), so you definitely get your moneys worth!

Just been at the Allergy and Free From show London and was super exited to see donuts (like probably all GF people at the evet was)
However when I got the donut It was hard. The friendly staff said they are better eaten once they have defrosted (confused why you would sell the product frozen as now it limits the customer at the event to be able to re freeze of they didn't live near)

Unfortunately even defrosted the custard donut was dense, chewy and hard to digest.

Absolutely delighted with the jam doughnuts that this was my second order , after not having a simple thing like a doughnut for years I could have cried tears of joy ……… so very yummy

I have not had a doughnut that tastes like a doughnut in over 20 years since I was diagnosed GF!

Donuts very very solid. Reheated according to instructions, the outside was perfect fatty, sugary coating, the jam was delicious real raspberry jam. But I couldn’t really swallow the dough, it was so solid

I'm sorry to only give three stars, I hadn't had a doughnut in almost 14 years and was so looking forward to that lovely soft sugary treat. I completely understand how difficult it can be to make things gluten free but I found the texture of the doughnuts really heavy and chewy even after reheating according to your instructions. The flavour was nice and I think if had them freshly cooked they might be better but they just weren't the treat I was looking forward to.

Awful. I tried to contact Borough 22 on the day I received the doughnuts I bought, in the hope I just got a bad batch. Unfortunately after reaching out via email and social media I was ignored. The doughnuts I received were stale, dense and soggy at the bottom. Like 6 out of date frozen thawed doughnuts left out in the sun. A £34 birthday present for a little girl just diagnosed with Coeliac disease. I couldn’t be more dissatisfied.

The donuts were stale from the moment of arrival. I expected a lot and was very disappointed. Even with heating them up, they were just so hard.

It was great to have gluten free doughnuts but I had to freeze some since I couldn't eat them all myself by the use by date (well I could have but that would have been greedy 😜).

I chose the baked one but I think I'll try the more traditional ones next time.

They were okay. I ordered for a weekend delivery but apparently too late in the day so they delayed the order. Would suggest the site get updated to prevent that. When they arrived they seemed almost stale already…

I am always on the search for an exceptional gluten free sweet treat to have on my birthday so decided to try these when the ad popped up on my Instagram feed. I had long ago accepted doughnuts would have to be on the long list of products that have become a dim and distant memory since becoming gluten free.

The Strips and dips were my doughnuts of choice as back in the day I would normally just have the fried and sugared version. I loved the texture, taste and serving size. The dips were both good options to enhance the taste for those who like extra sweetness. They freeze well and the reheat instructions are spot on. I had planned to keep them to eat as a treat over a few weeks but feel I need to have one each day so I can use up the dips while they are still fresh, that's my excuse and I am sticking to it!

I am so glad that I have finally found the perfect treat and I look forward to ordering my next batch when my birthday rolls around in a few months time. In the mean time I am sending emails to all my gluten free buddies so they can share the joy too.

Because they're fried! The most gluten like me and my girlfriend have experienced, lightly chewy with a little crisp on the exterior. Great flavours too, the jam was our favourite, can't go wrong with a classic.

These doughnuts were nice and fresh when I received them and only needed a few seconds in the microwave to revive them fully. The flavour is out of this world and tasted like I remember a doughnut used to taste (all those many, many years ago) maybe even better! Yes, it's on the pricier side, but you get great value for what it is and you can tell each batch is made with love and care

Update: Well, I ended up freezing three doughnuts. I have now defrosted, reheated and eaten two of those. The first one I heated up in the oven for 6 minutes, it wasn’t great, no crispy outside or soft interior, all a bit claggy and disappointing. The second one I heated up for ten minutes, and it was just like the fresh ones were - ‘oh my god’ levels of amazing!! So if the defrosting and reheating doesn’t work for you, maybe try longer? I love these doughnuts and have now signed up for their subscription service so I get a box every month as a treat. My other half (who is not GF) has also started pinching my doughnuts as she says they’re much better than the gluteny ones she can buy in the shops lol.

Original review: Oh my god!!! My filled fried box just arrived with DPD, I followed the heating instructions exactly and the ultimate deliciousness of the doughnuts was incredible. Such a lovely light interior and a crispy chewy sugary exterior, with the perfect amount of filling - heaven!

Since becoming gluten free ten years ago I’ve really missed fried doughnuts, I shall miss them no more. I shall order them from Borough 22. I honestly can’t believe how good they are.

The ordering process was easy, the delivery was on time and communication was great. I actually ordered the baked doughnuts by mistake to start with (I’d read they were more cakey and dense than an actual fried doughnut, although I’m sure they have their place). It was so easy and quick to change my order to a filled fried box.

Right, I’m off to heat up and eat another doughnut…. I don’t see the box lasting the weekend. I’ll have to eat salads all weekend too to counteract the sugar.

OMG these doughnuts are amazing! I have to be gluten free so haven't really had a doughnut in almost 15 years! I bought the cinnamon ring doughnuts. They are freezable so I don't have to worry about trying to eat 6 in one go but I think I actually could! I can't wait to try some of the other flavours/types.

It is so good to be able to eat doughnuts when gluten intolerant! They tasted wonderful. I have frozen most, as they are an expensive treat. I hope they defrost and re-heat well. Ordering and delivery was problem free. Great to discover this product and will re-order for special occasions.

Need to get your delivery system sorted out. I have had to have money returned or delays on orders from you many times Doesn't bode well for a successful business.
