When to boots on Monday only to discover they were closed found customers services assured me they would be open if I went near now only to discover they were still closed and they were also closed last Monday as well not very good service for somebody who advertises opening nine o'clock till 5:30 I don't think I shall be using boots again I have also found up their customer service is to take me off their register so they don't not get any more emails from them or appointment of them if I could rate them not eight to ten or not out of 5 I would have but no I have to write them one or the more which is all wrong

Their system for dealing with patients who have dementia is superb. All the staff at the Middlesbrough branch were excellent. They took the time and care to make patient comfortable and safe. In particular Mike, Ruth and Chris who went out of their way to help. Cannot fault the policy and training to deal with such difficult patients. Thank you.

Zero customer service
Although the eye testing in the Kingston branch was very thorough, I was very surprised that a new pair of reading glasses with new lenses was £50.00... but if I wanted to use the frames I had bought there a year ago, with new lenses, the price would be £150.00! How ridiculous. Everyone knows lenses are less expensive than new frames. And I can read better with last year's reading glasses, than the new £50.00 ones that I collected today. Apparently they are "bespoke" so no refund. I did mention they could use the frames for someone else as they are brand new, but no reply to that one.I am disgusted with Boots and will be going elsewhere for my eye test in future. If they had agreed to a full refund I will think about returning. UPDATE. Since answering their questions in their immediate reply below, I have heard.. surprise surprise.. absolutely Nothing. A week later. They have my money, they really don't care.

Great Service
I got an appointment very qickly and did not have to wait long. The staff member listened to why I wanted an eye test, confirmed my details ask about the additional scans, which I also wanted, then did the sans and prelinimary eye pressure checks. I was seen immediately by the optician who was very thorough. He confirmed that my fall had not damaged the retina repair in my left eye and my prescription was fine, but confirmed that I had dry eyes. He prescribed drops and I had to go to Boots Chemist to get the spray. An excellent experience that put my mind at rest.

Dirty - lacks basic customer service
The receptionist directed me to the waiting area. No customers were waiting but the two member of staff did not acknowledge me and continued their private conversation for another five minutes. The floor was filthy with dust and hair balls. It would have been no stars if it was not for the professionalism of the receptionist.

This was my first time visiting this opticians. I haven't had an eye-test in years, but felt that my eyesight was starting to get worse. The optician and the other staff were all really helpful, especially seen as I had my 5 year old autistic daugther in tow. They walked me through everything, and helped me choose my first ever set of glasses (Not bad for 45).

Archaic practices undermining otherwise…
Archaic practices undermining otherwise pleasant staff. I visited the Birmingham store to purchase glasses that I had already chosen after having had an eye test at their Kenilworth branch 12months and 24months prior. Boots systems showed no sign of the prior test (despite me having the booking confirmation on my phone) but did have evidence of the one 24months prior.
Unfortunately however as the prescription was a paper copy only they could not dispense without telephoning Kenilworth to get the opticians consent. To do this they have to phone the main Boots switchboard like the rest of us and there was no answer. There was no answer that phonecall.
It is also not possible to provisionally order the glasses in store and complete without me revisiting as “payment can only be taken in store”. Nothing more could be done and all because Boots have no reliable digital system for your prescription (despite it being 2026).
I would contrast the above with Cubbitts or Glasses Direct who I have ordered from previously and who appear more willing to join the 21st Century.

Arpesh Ruparelia always conducts my eye examination in a thorough, informative and pleasant professional. I feel I can ask any questions and that he is giving me his uninterrupted attention. I contrast this to when I lived in Kingston and went to a larger Boots where this did not happen.

My husband went for an eye test a few days ago.
We saw a fantastic team Betti Sarah and the wonderful optometrist Namrata.
All were extremely welcoming, cheerful, friendly and helpful.
The examination was explained along the way, we felt very comfortable.
I also went a couple of days later and had a similar positive experience.

Excellent Wallisdown branch
Attended Wallisdown branch. Very helpful staff. I had an unusual prescription that made the choice of frames more limited but they were very helpful and took time to explain all the costs and different options available to me. Impressed with their care and attention.
