Auto Europe New Zealand Omdömen 

I have used Autoeurope before and have found that their prices are very reasonable. If you ask for insurance to cover the excess it is available and also they quote for a second driver. Check the paperwork and make sure the car company understand exactly what you have already paid for. That way there are no nasty surprises.

My dealings with Auto Europe were fine but I'm NOT impressed with Avis.
- Got a type of car I didn't order; ordered compact medium but ended up with a big medium diesel vehicle and no chance to change.
- NO MANUAL IN THE CAR!!! E.g. after trying for 10 minutes, including staff from the petrol station, It took a friendly by-stander to work out how to open the petrol cap (no lever but, contrary to normal practice, you had to leave the key in the ignition).

We had a Golf for out travel and it was lovely to drive, clean, and in good condition, would have been handy to have a manual though as this particular car has a lot of warning lights etc that were not standard in all cars so took us some time to work out what to do when one came on, or even to work out what it meant.

the line when we picked up was huge, don’t think this is through any fault of the company or service people just bad timing, but it was may most unpleasant but the heat and lack or any aircon or even a fan and that the doors remained shut. But when i got to the front and was being services the service was wonderful and everything was sorted quickly and efficiently

My husband and I recently rented two cars through Auto Europe. Both rentals went smoothly. However, the final charge on one of the rentals appears to be higher than I was expecting (the charge only came through a few days after we had returned the car). I have been trying to Auto Europe to pass on the agent's details or to investigate it for me for a week now but have been receiving no response at all. So that is disappointing. But the booking process went smoothly - as did the pickups and drop-offs.

Everything to do with Autoeurope was fabulous. The booking process was straightforward and all of my questions were answered very promptly.
The Ford Fiesta we were given by europcar on the other hand was not so great. The hub cap fell off within the first few hours of driving the car, of which we were charged $90 NZD. We also had the car tell us that an engine oil service was due for the duration of our 6 week trip, from start to finish, despite oil levels being fine when checked.

Everything was easy and ended up with a lower cost than going directly to the rental companies,

Both rentals went without a hitch - modern cars exactly as ordered.

Pick-up in Paris was a disaster - we waited in line for an hour to collect the car. Staff were not at their friendliest (understandably).
Car was wonderful - only problem was the airbag warning light which remained on permanently (which I was told was "OK" by the staff member in Paris - after returning to check). Other than that the Skoda was as good as then Mercedes I used to own.
Returning the car in Zurich was a wonderful experience - Freundliche Grusse who served us was just fantastic! A bouquet of roses to her!

Great car great price and great deal! Earlybird deal gave me a great price and 2nd named driver all from Avis too. Will use again next year.

We toured Umbria and Tuscany for 2 1/2 weeks in a small Fiat Panda. It was big enough for our luggage and ourselves, small enough to take the terror out of driving through small stone walled towns..
Good fuel economy, good handling and all in all, a tidy little vehicle.
We stayed to the small roads mostly and it was more than adequate.

Excellent car both times.
A dream - One day people will be able to book on line, then walk into the rental car yard, identify themselves and drive away. None of the 10 to 20 minutes answering questions, mucking around etc.
Also could we please have a map of where the car has to be returned? We spent over an hour trying to find the Bath, (England) car yard. We don't all have maps of each individual town.

Everything went like clockwork from pick up to drop off. Avis staff were very efficient and helpful. Lovely car went well for 1560 miles.

The vehicle was new and ran like a dream. Just the right size for 2 people especially on narrow roads in t he highlands. Service at Glasgow was excellent with the young man easy to speak with and helpful. He gave us the sheet to hand the car back in in Edinburgh at Waverley but unfortunately the instructions for after hours drop off were out of date and we wasted nearly an hour searching for the drop off box which was a way back at the entering ramp to the car park. The sheet said at platform 4 but the office had moved. And the notice in the new office said near the ramp ? Being strangers we initially were not sure where this ramp was and it took some time tracing back throw the station to find it outside. There were also a number of internal ramps in Waverley to add to the confusion.

We are still booked with your company in Portugal and over all the service has been very good.

Booking arranged for 1-day hire with Europcar from Lewisham, London to Hereford (both UK) on 4 June. Staff at each depot great, but unfortunately the car provided frequently failed in 2nd and 3rd gears (loss of power) during the trip. Have not heard back from the company since we dropped off the car in Hereford - would have expected this, having explained the fault to the Hereford staff. This distracted from the overall impression of the rental car booking service you are surveying. Would be worth your mentioning this to your partner Europcar - also, their reluctance / refusal to supply maps of each depot actual location. Not everyone uses sat nav!

Once again once a company has your money then when you have a problem they pass the buck and leave you high and dry. Very poor. We were left to pick up a 'downtown' car miles out in the suburbs of Perpignan France even though we had specified a downtown location from the map on their own website. They offered no help whatsoever and Europcar were terse and unhelpful also. We were left high and dry. Good local French people helped us..neither Europcar nor Auto Europe NZ did.

We were impressed with the friendly person at Paris and for re car we got. All good!
