Alternative Eco Solutions introduced themselves to us with a competitively priced package for updating and improving our "loft electronics". From start to finish, the installation of the hi-spec inverter went without a hitch and with unfailing good humour. Clearly the cheerful (and tidy) staff of AES are enthusiasts for what they do. The result is a 10-12 year guarantee, as well as an increase in the value of our home.

I was impressed that the company called me because they had been watching the alarms coming up for my system as part of their system management policy which I have paid for. Their representative was able to visit promptly and their engineer was able to come quickly to fix the problem.

So I have had solar panels for 9years as of February this year and thought it's time to research adding back up battery system. Having searched for several weeks i was introduced to a company based in Essex by the name of Alternative Eco Solutions. Phil Pardy is the area representative. In himself Phil is a well presented individual, very polite and has a friendly manner. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable covering all aspects of my requests and more. James who fitted the battery back up system arrived early and well presented, again very polite and knowledgeable taking the time to talk me through exactly what he was going to do. On completion he again took me through the system and important points to note and leaving the installation area very clean and tidy.
Many thanks guys a great job done and a credit to the company. I also spoke to a delightful lady a couple of times and again always very polite and helpful.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this company for any solar systems and service.

My family have had the worst experience of our lives with Alternative Eco Solutions. It has been a living nightmare for over a year. In March 2023 AES cold-called my frail & vulnerable 86 & 89 year old parents (I later found out they buy customer lists from liquidated companies) & persuaded them to purchase £7000 of solar equipment upgrades that they did not want or need. My dad has alzheimers, my mum has dementia, parkinsons, blood cancer, breast cancer, severe arthritis, heart failure – their home is full of mobility equipment & boxes of incontinence pads which should have been a red flag to any salesman, but he obviously just rubbed his hands together & dived straight in.

I have had Lasting Power Of Attorney for both my parents for 5 years but the salesman fraudulently filled in a form falsely stating neither have memory issues/confusion (they both do), no psychiatric issues (my mum has), no hospital admittance (they both have), no hearing/eyesight problems (they both do), they don't have a Power Of Attorney (me), no fits or blackouts (my mum has epilepsy), no conditions that affect memory or judgement (they both do), & confirmed they are both under 79! He then got my dad to sign it! He also got my dad to sign a form waiving their right to a 14 day cooling off period! The salesman also ran up a landline phone bill of over £8 (despite my mum declining him access to their landline) he also used their laptop & logged into my mums emails & their utility provider account, I dread to think what else he accessed.

AES came to install the equipment THE VERY NEXT DAY! Obviously not over-run with work, like every legitimate solar energy company is! I only found out about it when we received a phone call from my parents utility provider checking they had requested to switch providers, which they hadn't, but the AES salesman apparently had. Turned out one of the mobile numbers the salesman had rung from their landline was a partner from Utility Warehouse who told me “Oh yes I've done several deals with M*** B*****!” Oh yes I bet you have!!! A nice kickback earned by all no doubt.

Once I discovered a scam had taken place I was bombarded with phone calls & a barrage of verbal abuse, rudeness, lies & threats from both directors & salesman of AES saying they would get their solicitors involved, that I would be blacklisted, trying to pressurise me to the point where I broke down in tears. I immediately sought legal advice, contacted Trading Standards, Citizens Advice Bureaux, phone calls & visit from the police, I contacted all the accrediting bodies that govern solar energy companies but it took over 3 nightmarish months of sheer hell, extreme anguish, intolerable anxiety & major upset to get the unwanted equipment removed & for my parents to get their money back plus the cost of the phone calls made from their landline. They were left with a solar panel system that didn't work as the AES engineer said he was unable to re-install their previous equipment due to some missing screws which he said my dad had taken! Meanwhile I still had to deal with rude abusive telephone calls from Tom Lydamore one of the directors trying to convince me my parents previous equipment never worked in the first place & calling ME a liar!

Four months later we were shocked to discover Utility Warehouse have been taking monthly direct debits from my parents bank account despite them cancelling the fraudulent switch instigated by AES. U.W. tell me the AES Salesman signed them up to a cash-back card which has a monthly charge! My parents knew nothing about this & certainly wouldn't have agreed. They are both housebound & have absolutely no use, need or desire for a cash-back card!

This whole experience has had an extremely detrimental impact on my mums psychiatric health, both my parents physical health & my own mental health.

We have now had to pay over £3500 for a reputable local solar energy company to put right what AES did. Strangely every solar energy company I contacted had several months waiting list for any work to be done & would never have had capacity to install equipment the very next day! That in itself tells you a lot. The report from the reputable solar company advises AES prices were highly inflated, the equipment was unnecessary, unsafely &incorrectly installed, the voltage optimiser wasn't even installed in a place where it could optimise the voltage! He also noted there were 2 previously uninstalled inverters on the floor near the solar equipment meaning my parents have been scammed at least twice previously into believing they needed a new inverter, maybe all by this same unscrupulous company? The salesman from AES would obviously have noted this too & again rubbed his hands together in glee! The original system was only installed 9 years previously.

We had a call from Alternative eco solutions and a a few days later had a visit from Phil a very friendly and professional who filled us in on the benefits. 4 days later Scaffolding went up and the James and Ben got the panels and all up and running. It took the engineers 1.5 days to fully fit system they tidied up, left no mess and even adjusted and fixed some tiles that were smashed up from when we had Smart energy solar water tubes which was a disaster a few years back which they had to remove before installing new panels . I would not hesitate to recommend this company. 5-star Thanks Paul and Annie happy customers.

I recently up-graded my solar panel/battery installation after receiving a call from Alt Eco Solutions.
I was impressed by courtesy and efficiency of all staff concerned, and after the up-grade I am now fully electrically independent. Speedy and efficient service !

I have worked with Matt Walker for a number of years who has looked after our solar panels. During this time he has kept me up to date over the benefits of using batteries to maximise my solar generation. For some time I reasoned that from my calculations they didn't make sense. To his credit Matt accepted my position. However, this month I agreed, after careful analysis, that it was now time to make the investment. Alternative Eco Solutions made a very competitive offer that I was very happy to accept. The installation was professionally undertaken and so far I am very pleased with the results. I have also been very pleased with the support from the company with their help in switching my supplier to Octopus.

Excellent personnel, good manners, no pressure. Prompt efficient service and subsequent installation. Matthew Walker checked our solar system and confirmed that a new Solar iBoost unit would need to be fitted. All the paperwork was completed and a new unit was installed in less than a week later on 11th February by one of AES' qualified electricians.

From start to finish I felt in good hands, from the initial meeting with Matt Walker to the installation of the pigeon-proofing. Alternative Eco Solutions are certainly not the cheapest company (hence the 4 stars only) but they are a reliable firm who I would recommend.

He put my mind at rest after a very bad experience with a different company's sales person was telling me we had a very bad problem and was aggressively trying to persuade me to buy a service contract.
Matt checked the whole system found a comparative small problem and explained it to us. He came up with possible solutions and gave appropriate advice. Was very helpful and patient.

Matt Walker was the gentleman who came to asses my solar system which was found to be not working. He explained how it was not working and what was needed to get it up and running. At no time did he put any pressure on me to go ahead but explained clearly what was the problem. he also explained clearly the paper work he had to fill in. He was courteous and patient as I am elderly and needed to ask a few questions to understand. The whole experience was easy and fast and the system is now up and running. I can recommend this company.

Trustworthy and reliable and efficient. Matthew (Walker) was very good to deal with - he did an appraisal and laid out the options. We found his advice helpful - not at all a hard sell but honest and thorough. Would recommend him and this company- his colleague Olivia was helpful too (and patient!)

Great company/team came to rectify another company’s botched job. Team was led by Tom and the fitters were James and Vince. Cleaned up after themselves including rubbish left by previous company. Would recommend this company every day. System is now safe.
