Im currently using ackroyd. Tried email and calling about our contract on buying a house. Promised call back. No call. No response been chasing for weeks now.

So AVOID.

Do not choose Ackroyd Legal. Poor at communication, incompetent and not proactive at all. Like others have said. You have to tell them what you need and to do, which is hard for a first time buyer like myself, as I am not sure of the processes - I am not a solicitor. You literally have to hold their hands.

Not sure how people are saying Aisha Ahmed is the best as not once she responded to my emails, where I stated all my concerns. We've been stand still for a full month as I am still waiting for my case handler to relay our concerns of the responses to the enquires that were sent over by the vendor's solicitors. Our case handler hasn't been great and I'm not sure how someone like Aisha can be Head of Residential Conveyancing. You need to have good communication and empathy for this role and clearly she doesn't since she hasn't returned any calls nor responded to my emails.

Also, still waiting for Sophie/Sophia to send me the names of the people to complain to. Requested this in March lol.

The team is professional, supportive and responsive.They explain me clearly the entire process I was going through and made it less stressful. Highly recommended Ackroyd Legal to everyone is looking for a reliable and knowledgeable solicitors.

hands down the worst experience I've actually had with anyone!

They really don't care about their customers and I had to chase every step of the way to ensure the paperwork was on schedule and on time (which it never was).

mortgage deeds were messed up, there was a shortfall on my mortgage which wasn't accounted for, and whoever the hell LMS are... thats a whole different issue but frankly it would never use this company again!

no point of contact, just generic emails from random people!

Mohammed turned our purchase around in 2 months which was a high stress purchase as we were selling in Scotland and tied into the sale due to missives and could not move this date. Really impressed with the success which initially seemed unlikely.

Avoid!

Had to deal with them when was buying my property 3 years ago. Very poor communication. All proces took ages. Took ages to reply emails. No updates. After property finally was bought took longer than 2 years to register property in land registry. Only when started doing remortgage and mortgage broker got involved I received documents from land registry.
No I'm dealing with different company and I can see a massive difference. Everything goes very smoothly without any delays. Don't waist your time and energy ,look for something else.

"Note: The transaction completed in January 2024, but this is an ongoing experience as the firm still refuses to return my documents as of today, April 2026.

"I am posting this as a final resort. Ackroyd Legal is currently in possession of my original identity documents (Passport/Driving License) from my transaction at 14 Fairfax Court, PE19 2JF and has failed to return them despite my requests. Under SRA Code of Conduct Rule 8.1, they have no right to withhold my personal property.

As a vulnerable client who has been through a difficult period, including hospitalization, I have found their lack of communication and refusal to return my identification completely unacceptable. I have now been forced to issue a formal Subject Access Request (SAR) to access my own files and have notified the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) of their conduct. I will not be updating this review until my original documents are safely returned to me and my data request is fulfilled."

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Ackroyd Legal, who were appointed by LSM. This is the second time I have had a poor experience with this firm, which makes it even more concerning.

The service was consistently unprofessional, careless, and at times shockingly incompetent. I was repeatedly given incorrect and misleading information. Each time I called to follow up, I was given different answers, which only added to the confusion and lack of confidence.

They also failed to switch the mortgage product on the agreed date and did not inform me of the delay. I only discovered this after chasing them myself more than two weeks later. This lack of communication and accountability caused unnecessary delays in transferring my mortgage product from Skipton to Leeds. As a direct result of their errors, I ended up paying additional interest, which should never have happened.

Communication throughout was poor. Responses were irregular and often came at odd hours, sometimes around 3am, raising serious concerns about whether my case was being handled by staff outside the UK who may not be fully familiar with UK legal requirements.

At no point did I feel confident that my case was being managed properly. The entire experience was frustrating, stressful, and entirely avoidable.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to think twice before using this firm. The level of service falls well below what any client should reasonably expect.

Terrible awful,we were given these ppl to deal with our property we brought in Manchester… absolutely rubbish, zero comms , zero anything… never ever assisted us … my word never use these ppl

They were involved in the sale of our flat. Their refusal to communicate and repeated delays nearly crashed the entire sale.

They won't speak to you on the phone. Take weeks to answer any email. And give complete misinformation.

Avoid at all costs. Cowboy company.

Very poor communication by the lawyer who asked me to complete the house sale form which I did. I asked to review with him but he sent it to buyers solicitor without acknowledging or reviewing the documents. Needless to say a lot of problems ensued. Lawyer from buyer asked questions which were not relayed, documents not shared. Sale fell through in the end with no acknowledgement of this from the lawyer. Been chasing this firm for a refund for over a month now ( fell through in October 2025) but no word on this. I've been put on hold , passed to several people, told to write an email to someone who never responded. It's a terrible experience, the worst I've ever had.
