Avoid if you are form the UK travelling abroad
My Experience with OK Mobility – A Cautionary Tale for UK Travellers
I booked an OK Mobility rental via Booking.com for my holiday in Alicante, Spain in August 2025. The booking process was smooth, and I purchased additional insurance to cover the rental.
However, when I arrived to collect the car on Friday 21st August around 3:30pm, I was met with aggressive pressure-selling tactics from the OK Mobility desk staff. I expected a standard £1000 hold on my credit card for the excess, but was warned repeatedly that I would lose the full amount for even minor dents or dirt. Despite showing proof of my insurance, I was told it would not be valid and that supermarket car parks would almost certainly result in damage.
The only alternative offered was to pay £430 for their own cover, which would allow me to return the car with any damage, no questions asked. This amount was shocking—more than my annual personal car insurance—and I was only renting for 12 days.
Despite challenging the claims multiple times, the staff repeated the same points over and over. Feeling pressured, and with my children waiting after an already long day of travelling, I reluctantly paid the £430 to avoid risking a £1000 loss.
After returning from my holiday, I contacted OK Mobility to raise concerns. Myself and two family members experienced the same pressure tactics on the same day, yet the company has failed to resolve the issue.
If you're from the UK and planning to hire a car abroad, I strongly advise avoiding OK Mobility.
