Can not discuss the account!

My partner received a phone call today from this company, saying they where calling on behalf of Octopus Energy...he passed the phone to me as I deal with all the utilities, they wouldn't speak to me because I am not named and he would need to pass Data Protection to add me to the account (I advised he wouldn't be giving them any personal details until they tell us what the call is about (rudely said no and put the phone down).

Called Octopus to ask why they gave us a £311 refund when we closed the account if we where in debt - they advised it was a bill which was issued after our final bill in the name of The Occupier not my partners name we have no debt outstanding.

Called this company back to explain and send proof this debt is not ours - my partner tried to go through Data Protection with them and he doesn't pass, confused the call holder advised his year of birth is wrong, I THINK HE KNOWS HIS OWN D.O.B wouldn't discuss the account, so said that's fine Octopus will be contacting you advise his debt is not ours and to stop contacting us.

For the call handler to say 'this won't be the last you hear from us' call all you want we won't pass data protection so you won't discuss it with us anyways.

Spoke to Octopus again and hopefully will resolve this directly, but it not I will take this further, mainly for the attitude of the call centre staff (I appreciate everyone/ systems make mistakes) but to speak to you as you are s**t on their shoes is below the belt.

UKSL pursing a debt that was after I had moved out of a property. With emails documenting I owed nothing from the utility company, UKSL dismiss them & refuse to investigate thoroughly but instead continue to harass for payment.

UKSL should really be more thorough & willing to investigate instead of bully tactics to just receive payments

No one likes debt collectors at the best of times, but they have been chasing me for a debt accrued at an address I do not live at. Debt is from 2019, yet I haven't lived there since 2013. I proved this to them in 2020, where they said they would look I to it. Naturally I heard nothing back. 2024 they have changed the reference number and have started chasing me again for the 2019 debt with threatening letters. I view this as harassing behaviour, I have proved beyond reasonable doubt I was not there, and therefore they are behaving criminally.

Received a letter from this company telling me I owed money to octopus for a two month period at an old address after I had moved out. Contacted octopus who confirmed I did not owe anything and they would contact the company to investigate - please reach out directly to the company they claim to be acting for before giving this company so much as a phone call.

I am in the process of resolving a case of complaints with learn direct. They sent me a message about the debt I owe. I am very unhappy with how they managed this.

I will be taking legal action against them as I am yet to resolve the outstanding issue with learn direct

This company are chasing me for my dead fathers debt. Very untasteful

This company should be banned.They hounded me for money I didn’t owe to Southern Water even though I provided proof. They ignored all of that and gave me 14 days to pay up. Only when I threatened to report them did they suddenly close the account. They are atrocious bullies.

My elderly mother received a letter addressed to a Lettings company stating that she owed £3086.61 for an outstanding energy supplier debt for a property in Newcastle. She does NOT own any properties in Newcastle. I immediately contacted UKSL to advise this letter had been sent to the wrong address and to remove my mother’s details from their database. I can see from the reviews the company is known for scamming so I also reported them to the FCA and Ofgem! Elderly people are very vulnerable in this current climate and do not need to be scared into thinking they owe companies money! Absolutely disgusting!!!!
SCAMMERS

Less than one star. No product ever arrived. Email contact continued for 6 months. Asked me to be patient. I am now not patient Promises made excuses given still no product and any mention of a refund is ignored.
Now no contact in response to emails. Totally scammers and thieves. Do not buy from those people Ordered July 2023 now Feb 24

Sold the fake debt to another agency who had court papers, had to pay £1500 or they were taking goods! Money I didn’t ever

Fraudulent! These are scammers! They’ve got all the information wrong on the letter they’ve sent me. I contacted my water suppliers and they said I have no outstanding payment. I hope these a**holes get caught.

Terrible company, just trying to intimidate people into paying money for fear of being in debt.

Know your rights! Go to the FCA handbook: CONC 7.14 Settlements, disputed and deadlocked debt

I quoted it at them and the account was promptly shut my case.

Innocent until proven guilty, it is on THEM to prove you are the correct person, not on you to prove that you aren't.

"Where there is a dispute as to the identity of the borrower or hirer or as to the amount of the debt, it is for the firm (and not the customer) to establish, as the case may be, that the customer is the correct person in relation to the debt or that the amount is the correct amount owed under the agreement."

Just got a letter from them stating that I ow my water company monies with the debt start date of the 29th July 2017.
There is nothing with this letter to substantiate this debt.
All my water bill are paid annually and are up-to-date.
If I really owed money then they should provide "proof of debt"
They give a phone number but it just cuts off

They make false accusations about so-called debts to utility providers.

Received a letter from them out of the blue and saying I owe an electricity company money for the period, September 2017 - January 2018, but I sold the property back in 2013!
I’m pretty sure it’s a scammer and I’m planning to ignore that letter.

Such a terrible experience
They don’t make any investigation before sending out letters claiming I owe over £1000 on my previous energy supplier when I’ve been faithful to all my bills!! This makes no sense and this company needs a serious investigation!!!

Update!!

I contacted my previous energy supplier to confirm if I owe them, and to my surprise they don’t know about the debt you sent me!! Are you trying to scare people unnecessarily or you are just scammers??

Just received a letter from these fraudsters,to say I owe my power supplier over £100. I am fact getting on for £300 in credit, I think I will report them to the authorities.

Do not pay these fraudsters.
I have had several letters, calls and emails regarding a supposed debt i have with my water company.
I have asked them to provide me with a deed of assignment from the water company (Deed of Assignment of Debt is a legal notice that your debt is now owed to a debt collection agency or another service, rather than the original creditor)
and UKSL have ignored my requests to provide this time and time again.
Ignore their threats, they are not acting lawfully and make up the rules as they go along!

Have been harassing my son for weeks, with phone calls for Southern Water. How did they get his phone number, when there are no bills/debts in his name?.

Total harassing phone calls by "TIM"...always tries to talk over me and never listens to what I had to say. He is just totally rude and arrogant and gives the whole company a bad name because of mannerism. Needs sacking.
