SushiGourmet counter in Sainsbury's St Albans - bought a 'Large Spring Box' of sushi and also a box of Edamame at lunchtime (opened within ten minutes of purchase). The Edamame were frozen solid, with ice crystals. The sushi looked appealing but the rice was hard and dried out on all the pieces - to the extent it was really not eatable. Will not be going back.

Sushi gourmet from the Tunbridge Wells store is EPIC. Big portions and really tasty salmon nigiri ♥️

I've been a loyal customer of Calcot, Reading Sushi Gourmet for quite some time now, spending an average of £40 per week on lunches from their store. However, my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed and frustrated.

Their "Too Good To Be True" service is indeed too good to be true, as they consistently fail to deliver on their promises. Despite placing orders and receiving confirmation emails, I've had numerous occasions where my orders were inexplicably cancelled last minute.

Yesterday was the final straw. After placing an order and receiving confirmation, I made my way to the store this morning, eagerly anticipating my sushi lunch, only to be told that my order had been cancelled because they didn't have any sushi available, what! Whilst having this conversation, guess what, she was making sushi. No sense of customer service.

What truly irks me is the complete lack of empathy or effort to rectify the situation. There was no sense of acknowledgement or apology for inconveniencing a loyal customer. It felt more like a dismissive "can't be bothered, do one" attitude from the staff.

For a business that relies heavily on customer satisfaction, this level of disregard for customer loyalty is unacceptable. I expected better from Calcot, Reading Sushi Gourmet, but unfortunately, they have failed to meet even the most basic standards of service. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on, where my patronage is valued and respected.

I bought sushi, £10 worth of supposedly good sushi from sainsbury in angel, sushi gourmet section to be precise! The fish is good however these ridiculous prices for hard and stale rice??? It’s appalling

I use the app too good to go but this store is the worse, they cancelled on me constantly, once was so late that I found that when I was in store.

Unfortunately I'm here to give my one star review and say that I will never be buying again. I am a regular customer at the counter in Sainsbury's in Huddersfield. Sushi gourmet is usually my little treat and I used to get a spicy tuna crunch roll. it's usually fresh tasting and delicious. Today it was hard rice, less sushi than usual with a price increase and the crunchy onions on my spicy tuna roll were soft and soggy. The tuna was not in the maki roll like it usually is, it was just avocado and cucumber with some minced tuna piled on top with the soggy onions. I can tell this is because they are making large amounts to keep so they can add the more perishable foods later (the tuna). It's basically just your poor quality supermarket sushi with hard rice and watery fish now but for the same price as a sushi restaurant. Well done for making your formerly lovely sushi crap and mediocre. Avoid it (unless you like hard rice and soggy onions and flavourless fish). To sushi gourmet, I have read other recent reviews of customers saying the same so please don't pretend I just got a rubbish batch. It's obviously new policy and if your that intent on going out of business..you know, go for it.

Really awful. Hard rice made it inedible and even if it was ok to eat it was a pathetic portion which was disguised by the label. Avoid

Much like another review here, thought tuna crunch rolls. Didn’t even eat them straight away. Walked 30 mins home on a hot day. Tina crunch rolls frozen absolutely rock solid.

Made fresh using frozen produce it seems. Which I understand for the fish. What I don’t understand is frozen vegetables and putting it out for sale before it’s fully defrosted

I have been buying sushi from Sushigourmet for at least 7 years. It was always fresh and tasty. Therefore my last experience left me very disappointed. We have purchased Spicy Tuna Crunch Rolls from large Sainsbury's in Kingston. It took only one bite to find out, these were completely frozen on the inside (cucumber was solid). It just made me spit my food out and I'm not sure I will venture buying sushi from Sushigourmet again, unless it is prepared in front of me.

I’ve been buying this sushi from Sainsbury’s for a good while now. Today my partner picked up my favourite for me whilst he was out and I was shocked to see that the price has gone up yet the pieces are half the size!! I can understand raising prices but reducing quantity at the same time? I’ll be going elsewhere in future.

Always find it fresh. The helpful staff will make whatever you like in about 10 mins from scratch.

All the hot food is awful so far, we’ve had at least 3/4 different dishes and last night I almost chucked my guts up. If you have maki or sashimi it’s not bad, tastes pretty fresh. But the stuff you take home & heat up! Wow! Disgusting
