Stem Cell Vet specializes in regenerative therapy for dogs, focusing on stem cell treatments to improve joint health and mobility. Our primary service is a minimally invasive procedure that harvests stem cells from a dog’s own fat tissue, which are then cultivated and injected into affected joints to aid natural healing. This therapy is particularly beneficial for dogs suffering from arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, and ligament injuries. Our clinic follows a unique triple therapy approach, combining stem cell injections with other regenerative treatments to maximize effectiveness. The process includes an initial consultation, a suitability assessment, and a recovery plan tailored to each dog’s needs.

Money driven - Disappointing experience
Disappointing experience – poor transparency and money-focused administration
Unfortunately, the stem cell treatment did not work for my dog. I want to be clear that the veterinary team themselves were professional and pleasant, and I had no issue with them personally. However, my experience with the administration and overall transparency was very disappointing.
I paid around £7,000 for the treatment in one lump sum. I later learned that the approximate cost of the stem cells themselves is around £1,800, meaning roughly £5,500 relates to veterinary and associated fees. Given that level of cost, I reasonably assumed that post-treatment medication would be included. It was not. Pain relief and even paracetamol were charged separately, which was not clearly explained to me upfront. This felt misleading in the context of such a high overall price REPLY - I paid all at once, so how is the medication charged per visit. More rubbish! I have an email saying “you signed the form” but since I wasn’t told, so they waved the payment.
Why would not all meds be covered in the cost. To make more money perhaps as you have to have them!?
I was repeatedly asked for direct debit details to pay for stem cell storage months before the stem cells were ready, which felt premature and uncomfortable. When I later requested a refund, it was processed at the very end of the stated 14-day period, meaning it then took additional working days to clear. This was noticeably different from how quickly payment was taken at the outset.
I was told my dog would receive joint fluid injections on both visits, which did not happen. On the first visit, Librela was used to aid recovery, but when my dog actually had the stem cells implanted, Librela was not used. No clear explanation was given for this change in approach, which raised questions for me about consistency of care. REPLY - I did email Ashelys to confirm if he had been given librela or not, she confirmed no. Asheley did not give a reason as they have said in their response below. I noticed it on the paperwork they supplied once home after the op.
There was also no new imaging carried out—they relied solely on scans done by my own vet. Again, this felt inconsistent with the premium price being charged.
I am still awaiting part of the refund and have only been offered a small fraction of the £7k paid. What concerned me further is that the “money-back guarantee” was not something clearly explained to me, and when reading other reviews, it is rarely mentioned. This made me feel that it is not actively highlighted to clients. There is also a screening process for eligibility, but based on my experience, it did not feel particularly selective. REPLY - I was told the accounts were back the week before Christmas via email from Megan, so they did drag out the refund until JAN 2026 when it was approved in DEC 2025.
Despite the marketing, this is not a specialist stem-cell-only centre, but a general town veterinary practice offering stem cell treatments. From a client perspective, it felt that branding and marketing play a large role, and I would advise others not to rely on marketing alone when making such an expensive decision.
The venue itself is also difficult to find and access, which added unnecessary stress at an already worrying time.
Overall, this experience left me feeling that costs, communication, and expectations were not handled transparently. After further research, I’ve since found that there are other practices offering similar treatments with clearer pricing and communication.
My advice to others would be to research carefully, ask very detailed questions about what is and isn’t included, and fully understand refund terms before committing.
Very disappointing overall - you can tell from their response below, no integrity, trying to coverup rather than accept my comments as a customers experience.
Not even a name on the review as to whom left it. Says it all.
CLAIM THE MONEY BACK GURANTEE WHICH they have not mentioned in their reply or advertise clearly.
ALSO. If you dog only needs one joint doing, go elsewhere. They charge a set price for 1 to all joints, but if 1 is needed, go elsewhere and save money.

When our energetic Jack Russell mix
When our energetic Jack Russell mix, Luna, was diagnosed with arthritis in her hips, we were devastated. Her constant discomfort robbed her of the joy she found in her favorite activities and dimmed her spirit. We tried every possible medication and diet, but nothing seemed to help. Then, quite by chance, I stumbled upon a Facebook ad for the Stem Cell Vet. Although I was initially doubtful about the efficacy of a single, minimally invasive procedure, we felt compelled to give it a shot.Upon arriving at the Bruton clinic, we were immediately impressed with the exceptional care and attention we received. The vet was incredibly knowledgeable and thoroughly explained every step of the process and the options we had. Their expertise and compassion reassured us, and we decided to proceed with the stem cell procedure. During our first visit, Luna’s blood was drawn to culture the stem cells.Six weeks later, we returned for the procedure, where stem cells were injected into Luna’s hips and knees under general anesthesia. The outcome was truly miraculous. Once she woke up, Luna was walking without pain and was the happiest we had seen her in months. Now, a year later, 13-year-old Luna is back to racing around as if arthritis never touched her. She is one of three dogs in our family, and thanks to this treatment, we can all enjoy our walks together once more. The transformation has been incredible, not only for Luna but for all of us. If you’re contemplating this treatment, don’t hesitate. Older dogs deserve the gift of more happy and mobile years, and time is of the essence. We wholeheartedly recommend the Stem Cell Vet!
Stemcell treatment gave our Buddy his life back
Our Buddy will be 11 years old this December. He has suffered with arthritis since he was about 5. So for half of his life he has battled with constant pain. We tried all the usual pain managememt meds - Metacam, Galliprant and Librela injections. All helped for a while, then nothing was easing his pain. It was no quality of life for him and devestating for us to watch our beloved boy deteriorating and crippled with pain in multiple joints. He was miserable and dreaded his walks. We were starting to consider the unthinkable. Euthanasia. Then I saw an ad pop up on facebook for the Stemcellvet in Bruton. I read all about it and watched the before and after videos and decided we had to get him there and give him the chance of a better quality of life.
I rang them and had a long chat and we sent videos and had Bud's local vet records sent across via email. Thankfully, he was accepted as a possible candidate for treatment. Only dogs that they are fairly confident of having a good result are taken on. This obviously saves the dog and it's family going through unecessary trauma, travelling and expense. It also preserves their excellent reputation. If they took on unsuitable dogs, knowing they would fail, it would be unfair on the dog and the family and seriously damage their reputation. So we set off on the 4+ hour journey and Bud was given xrays, blood tests and also fluid samples were taken from his joints to confirm he just had osteoarthritis and not rheumatoid. Stemcell treatment apparently doesn't help with rheumatoid arthritis. Thankfully, there was no rheumatoid, so we went ahead with the planned treatment. He had 3 visits in total. The 2nd visit was to harvest fat cells to grow the stemcells. The cells took a few weeks to grow and we are keeping some stored in case he ever needs a 'top up'. The cells were implanted in January. Stemcells take weeks to grow and 'bed in' but he also had plasma and fluid replacement therapy which worked instantly! He was feeling so much better it was hard to keep him quiet! He had a few blips from overdoing things, but we spoke to Tim and were advised to up his pain meds and further restrict his activity, and slowly he improved. And here we are just over 4 months later, with a big old bouncy puppy, full of life and making up for lost time. He is almost weaned off of the pain meds now and is pain free and loving life and walkies again. We have our Buddy back and cannot thank Tim and all the team at Stemcellvet enough.
I would absolutely reccommend anyone who has a dog suffering with arthritis pain, cruciate or any similar pain, to contact these guys and see if they can help. They are all lovely people who genuinely care and what they do for dogs is incredible. We feel that we have had nothing short of a miracle with Bud.
We have seen our boy go from a sad, crippled dog with no quality of life and nothing but pain and sadness in his eyes, to the awesome, crazy, happy life loving Hound he was before arthritis stole everything he enjoyed in life. The Budster is back and we are beyond grateful!
Started well, end result not so good.
Firstly, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Communication prior to the treatment was excellent. The care and effort on the day were also very good. Aftercare started well but has since declined.
Unfortunately, since the treatment, Charlie has not recovered well. What we initially assumed was post-procedure soreness turned out to be something more serious, and his ability to walk deteriorated considerably day 1 after treatment and never recovered.
To be fair, while he was under, the team informed us that Charlie had a significant issue with his right hip, likely requiring surgical intervention by a specialist. After a brief discussion, we agreed to proceed with the PRP and Arthramid treatments. At the time, the PRP treatment across most joints seemed like a sensible idea — at least to help manage his mild arthritis in those areas.
However, the use of Arthramid turned out to be a big mistake. We have since been advised by two surgeons that Arthramid should not be used prior to hip surgery, as it can compromise the outcome if there is any infection — something that would likely be untreatable and could result in disastrous consequences. StemCell Vet did not warn us of this risk. By their own admission, they were unaware of it at the time. We understand they have since updated their protocols and advised their team that Arthramid should be avoided in similar cases. That may benefit other dogs in future, but sadly, it won’t help Charlie.
In hindsight, I wish we had gone directly to one of the larger specialist centres such as Moores Orthopaedic Clinic or Anderson Moores.
For us, we ruled out stem cell treatment — the risk is too great if undetected cancer is present, which is a concern in older dogs.
Arthramid is also something we would avoid if there’s any chance of needing hip or joint surgery, based on the advice we’ve since received.
PRP, however, I still believe is a very good option and relatively low-risk.
All I can say is: do your research thoroughly before committing to any treatment, and make sure you fully understand the risks involved.
The people at StemCell Vet were lovely throughout the treatment, but in our case the treatment was a mistake. I am currently waiting on a follow up from StemCell Vet and will update this review once I have spoken to them.

Amazing health improvement and pain reduction
The staff were helpful, polite and professional explain the costs upfront and the timescales and any risk, thankfully the risks involved were quite small.
The procedure went well and showed immediate improvement
A few months later improvement is much more better and she has literally knocked off four or five years of pain and suffering. After 6 months she has become a new version of herself.
So excellent excellent results and well worth five stars
I only wish that this treatment was available for humans, LOL
I would recommend the company to my friends and family and hope that they want every success so that more dogs like my 10-year-old Labrador can be helped to be in a happy and pain-free condition.
The cost appears high but this is very advanced and hence expensive treatment. But it will help her for now and the long term.
Our 8 year old lab with elbow dysplasia…highly highly recommend
Our 8 year old lab with elbow dysplasia was given a poor prognosis by our vet
His elbows were so bad / shattered and arthritic by the time he let us know he was in pain our vet said nothing can be done and basically he won’t make old bones
Our tenacious daughter found Tim and his team and oh wow what a find
6 months in and he is enjoying life to the full
Walking miles, playful and smiling all the time
Life changing
Tim and team keep in touch always to check on progress… we know he will have a slight limp as the damage was well done by the time we went however it’s been halted and he really is a diff boy running around with our year old lab
Our insurance contributed to the costs so do persevere
Highly highly recommend
Stem Cell Vets are amazing
My little Tibetan was only 4 years old when we discovered she had hip dysplasia, I looked around for treatments and found Stem Cell treatment, I looked into vets who did this but was not inspired until I spoke to Stem Cell Vets in Bruton. They were happy to answer all my questions and I felt very assured so decided to take her to them.
They were absolutely amazing, they explain everything in full. From the first time where they taken the fat to culture the stem cells and injection the hips with PRP my little girl had less pain. Once the stem cells were injected within 2 weeks she was like a little puppy, her mobility got better and better.
After a month she was off if all medication, she only has the BBounce tablets that I purchase from Stem Cell Vets.
It is now 18 months since she had it done and she runs and jumps around like it never happened. The after care is very good too they contact you regularly in the first 6 months and ask you to send videos of your dog walking and ask if you have any problems, and they have contacted me every 6 months since. The whole team are wonderful, they love the animals and they are all very helpful, it is a great service and the treatment is amazing.
I would recommend it to anyone with an animal with arthritis
Labrador back to normal.
My 8 year old Labrador started limping all the time, took him for x rays was informed he had arthritis in his joints, I asked around to find the best treatment I was advised to have an operation, I asked if that would cure the problem the answers I received was not very good. I was looking everywhere for a result, I came across stemcell surgery, I contacted the surgery in Somerset They asked me to send a video of Biscuit, they contacted me and said they could help, could I bring Biscuit to the surgery for examination and treatment This was April 2024 we spent the day at the surgery what an amazing place and the staff were great so helpful, I took Biscuit home with instructions on how to adjust Biscuit to a very long and slow recovery, I could not believe with in 2 days his limp had gone the surgery checked on Biscuit over the next 3 months, checking out videos I sent them. In July 2024 I returned to Somerset spend a day at the surgery. It is now February 2025 and Biscuit is now running around like a puppy with a new lease of life the vet and staff where brilliant throughout Biscuits recovery I would thoroughly recommend if your dog has any symptoms of arthritis contact the stemcell specialists
Benson was in pain…
Benson had been having difficult walking for over a year and was clearly in pain. Having spoken to the vets at Stem cell we were assured that their treatment would help Benson.
following the first stage in October 2024 we started to see a clear improvement, following the second stage with stem cells being implanted we have seen a continuous improvement.
Benson is much happier and clearly free of pain.
I am over the moon with the professionalism of the Stem cell team THANK YOU ALL
Steve and the team at stem cell vet…
Steve and the team at stem cell vet have been amazing. Oscar’s treatment has worked brilliantly and we are very encouraged by the results. The after care treatment has also been very thorough and attentive. I would highly recommend.
Thank you Stem Cell Vets
Our 14 year old Jack Russell Milo, had very bad arthritis in his front legs, toes and hips. He was struggling to walk and unable to manage stairs or even able to walk down slopes. We had to travel a long way to get the treatment he needed and stayed overnight so he could rest the next day. The stem cell vets explained everything in detail and were very caring. After the treatment, it took a while for the stem cells to get to work and the first few months he didn’t seem much better. Then we noticed a huge improvement. He was running, going downstairs and down slopes with no hesitation. His limp was gone. He is playing ball and at the grand age of 15, is living his best life. Stem cell vets were happy to work with our vet as we are so far away. Our vet has now taken over his medication. Thank you stem cell vets for giving our boy a pain free life and happy years in his old age.
My boy was only 5years 5 months old… The Miracle of StemCell
My boy was only 5years 5 months old when diagnosed with hip dysphasia and double front knee osteoarthritis. He was a very active border collie. We used to be out in the early mornings 2hours walks and running, loved I mean loved chasing a ball, everything was ball, playing with his best friend since he was 6 months.
In November 2023 he was keep getting lame, got told to rest only led walk, he kept dropping as he walked. Was definitely in pain. Went back and forth to the vet. Got X-ray on all four limbs in February 2024 as he was losing muscle in his back leg and stiffing up. Diagnosis came back as hip dysphasia and double front knee osteoarthritis which was devastating for a younger dog. The vet put him on oral pain killers but didnot work for long and also not good for the stomach. Put him on pain injections for every month but they won't last the month. So upsetting knowing he was still in pain and also fed up not understanding that couldn't walk for long or get excited. Then came he'll need a double hip operation and double knee. His poor legs won't last, his front legs won't carry his back, his back legs won't carry his front while waiting for recovery after ops. Then I strolled the internet and came along StemCell vet. Did research, wrote a email on there site and got a phone call the next day with a lovely friendly calming lady called Megan. My vet sent Keegan's history to see if he was compatible for treatment. Within 4 days we are going from Hertfordshire to Somerset Bruton for the day too check Keegan out, have a very easy small surgery to get his own stem cell to grow, Tim the surgeon and the nurse's looked after him throughout from start to finish and there after. The first procedure is a full day appointment. Waited 4-5 weeks for the cells to grow call back massive excitement, ready to go back. Have a checkup and then ready for the procedure injections into all four legs about 4 hours later ready to go home walking little groggy, little sore but walking. This started in June 2024 first procedure, the main procedure in July. Slowly slowly gentle walks and medication which is apart of the treatment. His enthusiasm is a lot happier, stiffness in the legs are starting to ease. Building muscle back in back legs no more pain killers for five weeks it's December 2024 now and seeing huge improvement from 10 mins walk a day, not seeing his friends and stayed on lead. Walking up and down steep hills, walking in the woods without lead, chasing the odd fox and best of all staying with his pal. He won't be able to chase a ball, but he's happy I'm happy he's out and about. StemCell team are with him all the way they have been fantastic, still in touch checking up, I send videos of him every month. I'm glad I made that first call the best decision for Keegan, best team lovely friendly warm. Go with your gut, this is the best for Keegan, he's not back to normal but 100% better than he was this time last year. Something my vet didn't suggest only four massive ops.
Stem cell Bruton in Somerset and team are the best. Stem cell is the way for Arthritic pets (animals)but definitely get it done by the best and the team that deal with it everyday. Thank you Tim and the whole team a Bruton Somerset
A life changing treatment!
We were absolutely heartbroken when our lively Jack Russell cross, Luna, was diagnosed with arthritis in her hip joints. She was in constant pain, unable to enjoy her favourite activities, and had lost her spark. We tried every medication and diet we could find, but nothing made a difference. Then, by chance, I came across a Facebook ad for the Stem Cell Vet. I’ll admit, I was sceptical about how effective a one-off, minimally invasive treatment could be, but we knew we had to try.
From the moment we arrived at the clinic in Bruton, we were blown away by the level of care and attention. The vet was incredibly knowledgeable, explaining every step of the process and the available options in detail. Their professionalism and compassion gave us the confidence to proceed with the stem cell treatment. Luna’s blood was taken during that first visit so that the stem cells could be cultured.
Six weeks later, we returned for the procedure, where the stem cells were injected into Luna’s hips and knees under general anaesthetic. The results were nothing short of miraculous. As soon as she recovered from the anaesthetic, Luna was walking pain-free and happier than we’d seen her in months.
Fast forward a year, and our 13-year-old Luna is running around like she did before arthritis ever affected her. Luna is one of three dogs in our family, and thanks to this treatment, we can all enjoy our walks together again.
This experience has been truly life-changing, not just for Luna but for all of us. If you're considering this treatment, don’t wait. Time is precious for older dogs, and acting quickly could give your beloved pet extra years of happiness and mobility. We can’t recommend the Stem Cell Vet highly enough!

Amazing
We have 9 dogs, huskies, 1 who has oa and hip dysplasia and received stemcells and prp over 2 years ago, what a difference it made for him, a new lease of life. Being able to run with the rest, I appreciate never to same speed, but loving life.
He has been back for a 2nd round of treatment due to slowing and a bit of pain, and again this has improved his movement, we are very active and enjoy mountain walks, so being now 11 years young with severe oa and hip dysplasia this has made a huge difference to his life.
His brother slipped running and stretched his crutiate ligament. We took him to stemcell vets as no one near us at the time could do surgery he needed and give stemcells to help prevent oa developing. He also 11 years, is the most powerful and can run like a trooper.
A few years ago one of our girls suffered with a melanoma in her eye, the vets at stemcell looked over her photos and details and supported us emotionally in a difficult time. She also is doing wonderful.
Any questions I have, anything I am usure of, all the staff, have been brilliant, so supportive and very quick to respond and offer advice to myself and send all details to our local RV regarding treatments and clinical details.
I cannot fault them in any way at all. The level of care and support is 2nd to none and the energy and quality of life it has given my boys is so important.
I would highly recommend.
