They just increased the monthly fee for us from $35 to $999/month. Or 2800%. For the exact same service.
P.S.: We've now successfully ditched Sendowl in favour of a self-hosted solution. After all, Sendowl is just a bit of glue between a website and Stripe/PayPal. Hardly rocket science. Luckily, we are software engineers, others might not be so lucky. We'd recommend to other Sendowl victims to use the built in checkout tools of Stripe and/or PayPal to add a simple checkout to a web site. Sendowl has proven to be a service with an unpredictable pricing policy and is now massively overpriced for what it does. The price of a checkout should also never depend on the sales volume as this discourages growth. Definitely avoid Sendowl now.

We don't believe this to be a fair or representative review - and important we respond given this is actively trying to dissuade customers from using our services; and, your review is not fair or representative of the facts.
Price is unpredictable = not factual. This is the first time in 15 years we've ever migrated legacy merchants to new pricing. And, we gave 30 days notice 3x and also reached out personally to highly affected merchants like you to discuss options.
Pricing discourages growth = not factual. Our pricing is done to help merchants and as you grow we take a smaller and smaller effective piece compare to competitors that take an uncapped 10% in many cases.
I will not share personal account details here about your account or why we believe your new pricing is market, but I must say your review is not fair or representative of what SendOwl is and what services we offer - we are definitely not just glue between website and stripe.
All this said, we still wish you and all digital product sellers the best no matter the circumstances.
Have not received my order
I ordered a $40+ product MONTHS ago, I still have the receipt and Sendowl has never sent it and the owner has never reached back out to me, please help, this is extremely disappointing.

SendOwl is very easy to use
SendOwl is very easy to use to sell anything online. I am using it to sell a simple e-book in multiple formats. My customers are quite happy with the system. The only downside is that it is pretty expensive for very small businesses.

SendOwl Works!
SendOwl has worked as advertised. It secures the downloads. SendOwl minimizes the pirating of copyrighted materials by stamping the buyer’s email on PDF pages. I appreciate the detailed documentation and help screens, making the technical side of things understandable. Best of all, the cost of the service compared to the benefits provides a healthy return.

It appears that you were one of the last merchants to sign up under our older plan terms which did include a very generous/long trial period. We did re-evaluate our plan offerings and change the trial period to a time frame which ensures the free trial transition to paid SaaS fee will not be so far removed from the account reminder emails we send.

Shi-etty downloading experience for customers. i bought a pdf product hosted on SendOwl after paying 21USD. A link was provided and immediated an error occurred. The product limit was refreshed to 0 with no downloads. Thanks for stealing my 21USD Shi-et owl!

Merchants may be fraudulent and SendOwl takes no responsibility
I was defrauded by a SendOwl merchant and while SendOwl did try to get in contact with the merchant, that merchant is no longer around and I made a payment that I am unable to recover. The onus should be on SendOwl to prevent fraud among their merchants and also to notify consumers who have transacted with a SendOwl merchant known to be operating fraudulently.

I'm sorry you had a poor experience! It looks like you purchased a product from a different business back in 2022. We reached out to you to find out more about your experience but did not hear anything back.
Unfortunately, problems do occasionally arise between Merchants and their Customers and it's sad the merchant that you paid did not respond to your contact attempts and did not honor their product requirements.
As you were unable to solve the problem directly with the seller (the merchant you paid for their product), the best course of action is to request a charge back from your credit card company.

Great starter option
Everything about SendOwl is great except for paying per order sale. I would rather have a price built in.
It is easy to use, and fairly self explanatory to set up. This is a great option for newer entrepreneurs with digital products to sell.

I've been using Sendowl for 10 years and I love it. It's simple, effective, affordable and a joy to use, even if you're not a techy person. It integrates well with my mailing list service and it makes my bookeeping a breeze. I highly recommend it.
