Security First Florida ignored facts to reject my claim
I had Security First as my homeowners insurance for 11 years and when I submitted my first claim for damages resulting from hurricane Milton damages, the claim adjuster did an unprofessional review of the data provided: She based her rejection of my claim on an incorrect analysis of my policy’s covered and uncovered items. When I informed my agent, he wrote to her: “Marie, considering your response, it appears that you did not understand any of the concerns and didn’t respond to the insured questions on discrepancies between the list of damages and your duplicate list of denied items." He went on to describe the discrepancies of the amounts covered and uncovered that left out ⅓ of the mounts involved and concluded, “This does not address any of the concerns of your lack of communication with me or the insured after numerous emails from the insured and messages from myself. You returned no call that I made and failed to send me a copy of the denial that requested” When I switched my insurance provider, I discovered that Marie had classified my claim as water damage occurring inside my condo unit, which increased my new proposed premium, rather than from flooding of the underground garage and first floor of our building caused by hurricane Milton. To get the correct premium I had to provide my new insurer the same documents I had provided to Marie.
