Purchased a bike from the Whitwell store at rutland water as an upgrade for my son to go mountain biking in wales. It wasn’t a cheap kids bike. It went through the workshop before we took it home. His first ride was on a red trail in wales where his pedal fell off causing him to fall off and he sustained some nasty cuts. It could have been a lot worse! Took it back to the shop today and they said that the pedal had just come undone and to bed it in and then bring it back to tighten everything up. Basically if it goes through the workshop then it’s not ride ready! Hand tight is all you’re going to get. Good job they don’t service cars! So if you buy a bike from here make sure you do your own inspection after their pre inspection to make sure it’s ride ready! I won’t be buying another bike from here! I will buy from a shop that makes sure the bike is SAFE to ride before selling it!

This review is for the Rutland Cycling store in Nottingham. Our story goes back to April 2022 when my wife bought a Specialized Vado SL 4.0 2022 e-bike from a store situated in the middle of Nottingham City. When we picked up her bike, there were numerous PDi issues, damage to paintwork, broken promises by the staff over work that should have been done and wasn't, no handover. Needless to say, we returned the bike and were refunded.
We went to Rutland Cycles in Nottingham and placed an order for the same bike from them. There were some issues with delays over delivery of the bike, but this is where a good manager can turn a potentially negative situation round to a positive one. Through no fault of anyone at Rutland Cycles Nottingham, I eventually ended up sourcing the bike from a different company last week. Before I confirmed the order with the other company, I spoke to Paul Shilton, manager at Nottingham. We had a conversation around the supply issues and Paul was very supportive and understanding. I explained I planned to have the new bike delivered to his store for its PDi. We had bought mudguards and pannier rack from a different company back in April, that were for the original bike. Paul offered to have them fitted to the new bike when it arrived in his store, as a gesture of good will for the supply issues from Specialized.
When the bike was delivered, the guys in the store were brilliant. Always polite and courteous. They booked the bike into the workshop for the mudguards and pannier fitting the next day. By mid morning they phoned my wife to say the bike was ready for collection.
When we went to collect the bike today, Evan went through a thorough explanation of the bike (something the original store didn't do) and amongst other things, helped my wife with the ''Mission Control App on her mobile, explained about servicing, gears, battery charging etc. We couldn't have asked for more, and felt that our custom was valued.
The guys at Rutland Cycles Nottingham were fantastic. From manager Paul, who through his own skills, managed to turn around what could have been a negative experience, to a very positive one. Evan, Wayne, Toby and the guys who assembled the bike in the workshop and fitted the mudguards and pannier rack ( when they were fitted on the original bike in April, they clattered and rattled from the outset, having taken the bike for a test ride this afternoon, my wife is over the moon, no rattles or clanks!) thank you guys, this is how you do customer service.

Clair was totally amazing from the very first email to now having the perfect bike at home, they are very knowledgeable and happy to help at every point, can't wait to take it out for its first ride.

The are reliable especially there Customer Service. Thanks to Anna which help me to figure out the issue promplty and guided me on the process through out. And gave me an extra consideration to process my stuff easily. Keep up the good work..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I'd like to say thank you to Rebecca, all the admin and sales team. The bike had a couple of small issues but its been rectified promptly. Nothing was too much trouble

Purchased a Specialized Turbo Creo after making an enquiry on WhatsApp. The whole transaction was carried out (with Richard) on WhatsApp including interest free finance, so easy to do. Received a call from Millie (Rutland) 3 days later to arrange delivery, the bike was delivered 1 day early. Well done all you guys at Rutland, I can certainly recommend. I also received a curtesy call from Claire one week later, checking everything was OK. Splendid!

Excellent service from Clair. Very quick to respond and kept me updated as and when required.

Items were damaged in transit, not their fault, but Rebecca made sure the issue was quickly resolved in a sensible manner. Very happy with their pragmatic and flexible approach.

Customer service complete useless each don't know what they are doing won't recommend to family or friends

I was after a couple of Topeak accessories for my Ebike, and having done my usual comparative shopping research, it was Rutland Cycling that offered the best value deal for both - a trunkbag, and an accompanying rear carrier rack adapter. The value of the order also put me comfortably above their current £30 threshold for free delivery.

The items were ordered on the evening of a Tuesday and I seem to recall I received the items by Friday, which was absolutely fine as I was not in a hurry for them (express 24 hour delivery options are available ...). I got what I needed, at the best price I could reasonably find, so I am content!

It is well worth remembering that, with a little more effort, sensible comparative shopping can often find you deals that beat even the likes of Amazon. It is no bad thing to give the much smaller, independent retailers your custom.

Slightly disappointing experience. Bike not prepared to an acceptable standard. Promised a call from a manager but it never happened.
They clearly have issues with their email system too.
Unfortunately cannot recommend.

These guys were great on my recent Frog bike order. Great price & even better was the fact that they assembled and then shipped the bike ready to go. A lot of companies miss off fiddly things like the mudguards and wheels etc., when shipping, but this was all put together and tested when it arrived.

Shannon was incredibly helpful answering my query quickly and efficiently :) This is the standard for customer service!

I ordered a Specialized Diverge bike for my daughter. I made a mistake about the delivery contacted Millie, problem sorted. Bike arrived as promised but no pedals, contacted Millie, problem sorted. Noticed that the bike was now in the sale, contacted Millie, guess what.. Problem sorted. Millie there is a position available 10 Downing Street you'd get my vote.

The amazing team at the Barnwell Road store in Cambridge went out their way to quickly fix my flat e-bike tyre in no time, very close to store closing. I called after work and despite it being very close to store closing time the team still sorted me out, got the very tight tyre off the wheel (which I couldn't do), and didn't even charge me the repair cost!

Love the local shop in Milton Keynes! Every each time I go there everyone is really helpful and jolly! I often have to go in for either professional advice or because I am out on my bike all the time and they are on the way/near my house, so I stop there, every each time they help and look at my bike out of the kindness of their heart! Much appreciated guys!
I had done this with my little ones bike too and received the same service - my little man was very happy!

I bought a new road bike helmet at a good price based on the sizing information provided on their website, it didn't fit. Several days after returning said item for a refund, my refund is £7 less than the actual purchase price!? I am told this is down to postage costs, then I am sent a link to their terms and conditions. I won't use them again, the sizing information was misleading and I was purchasing based on that vital information. I want to support smaller businesses and move away from the Amazon's of this world, but when things like this happen, you see how efficient and fair others' returns policies are. I would happily pay for return postage if I had just changed my mind, but this helmet did not fit after using their item description and sizing info to make my decision. OK, I'll take the hit on the postage costs on the order, but on the return I feel this is unfair. I won't use Rutland again, but had they been fair with me, this review would be more positive and they would potentially gain future business...sadly this reflects on poor customer service across many UK companies. Short sighted indeed.

Rutland has been really helpful in dealing with my order. I've changed a number of items through the decision making process Karen was always happy to help and went out of her way to assist. The pricing is competitive and they deliver to my door.
