NEVER EVER AGAIN

SORRY. I am writing this to share my extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Ruby International Moving regarding my international sea shipment from the United States to Hanoi, Vietnam. From the very beginning, everything seemed professional and well-organized, but things quickly took a troubling turn. After I made the initial payment as agreed, nearly $18.000, the company began delaying the process without any clear explanation. Despite repeated follow-ups, I was left waiting for an unreasonable amount of time with no proper updates. What made the situation even worse was that their team had already come to my home and taken nearly all of my belongings — including essential furniture such as beds, wardrobes, tables, and chairs — leaving my home almost empty.

Instead of shipping my items as promised, they moved everything into a storage facility without my consent and then demanded that I pay additional storage fees that were never mentioned beforehand in the agreement. This felt extremely dishonest and unprofessional, as I was put into a position where I had no choice but to comply if I wanted my belongings returned or delivered. The lack of transparency, broken promises, and unexpected charges strongly suggest deceptive practices. I urge everyone to be very cautious and vigilant when considering Ruby International Moving for any international relocation services, as my experience raises serious concerns about their reliability and integrity.

In addition, my situation became even more unacceptable with Ruby International Moving as they held all of my belongings from November 2025 until March 2026 without providing any confirmed shipping schedule or clear communication. Throughout those months, I did not receive a single proactive update about when my items would actually be shipped. When I reached out via email to complain, they shifted the blame to the shipping line, claiming there were no available schedules, and insisted that I simply continue waiting — all while still requiring me to pay ongoing storage fees. This is completely unreasonable and shows a lack of accountability. Another major red flag is that the company insists on payments strictly through bank transfer or Zelle, refusing to accept debit or credit card payments, which removes an important layer of financial protection for customers.

At this point, I am taking steps to contact my bank to dispute and recover the nearly $18,000 USD I have already paid, and I will demand the immediate return of my belongings from their warehouse so I can work with a more reliable and trustworthy international moving company instead.

I also strongly suspect that many of the positive reviews about Ruby International Moving on various websites may not be entirely genuine, but rather intentionally created to build false trust and lower customers’ guard. Based on my personal experience, I feel it is important to speak honestly and warn others. I sincerely advise everyone to conduct thorough research, verify all terms carefully, and think twice before entrusting this company with something as important as your personal belongings and financial security.

We take all client feedback seriously, and we are genuinely saddened to read this review as it does not accurately reflect the full scope of the situation or the extensive efforts made on this shipment.

From the outset, this move involved specific timing and regulatory challenges. The client had sold their home in the United States and was not planning to be in Vietnam for several months. As a result, storage in the U.S. was discussed, quoted, and agreed upon in advance so that the goods could be safely packed, removed from the residence, and held until the client was ready to proceed with delivery.

In addition, Vietnam is widely known to be one of the most complex countries in the world for importing household goods—even for native citizens. Because of this, we proactively connected the client with our FIDI-certified agent in Vietnam prior to packing and loading in Texas. This is a critical step we take to ensure all documentation requirements are clearly understood before shipment.

Our Vietnam agent worked directly with the client to review the required paperwork. Unfortunately, the documentation initially provided was not sufficient for import clearance, which resulted in extended back-and-forth communication while attempting to resolve these requirements. Ultimately, our agent advised that the best path forward would be to reroute the shipment through a more lenient port. This option, along with the increased cost and potential for delays due to congestion, was clearly explained to and approved by the client.

The container was then booked in alignment with the client’s requested arrival timeframe. As anticipated and disclosed in advance, congestion at the alternate port did occur, contributing to delays beyond our control. Despite these challenges, the shipment did successfully arrive, clear customs, and was delivered.

Throughout this process, our team in both the United States and Vietnam remained actively involved, coordinating closely to navigate complex international regulations and ensure a successful outcome. We understand that delays can be frustrating, but they were largely driven by documentation requirements and port conditions—not a lack of action or communication on our part.

At Ruby International, transparency and client preparation are top priorities. We make every effort to educate our clients on international shipping requirements before booking, precisely because of the complexities involved in destinations like Vietnam.

We stand by the work completed on this move and the level of service provided by both our domestic team and our top-tier overseas partner. It is disappointing to see this effort characterized in a way that does not reflect the reality of the situation.

We remain committed to providing professional, compliant, and reliable international moving services, and we encourage future clients to work closely with our team to fully understand all requirements for their destination country.

Ruby Moves took care of our family’s…

Ruby Moves took care of our family’s move from the US to New Zealand, and I honestly couldn’t recommend them more. This was our first big international move, and I went in knowing absolutely nothing about the process.

Eric guided us through every step with incredible patience and clarity. Communication was excellent — he answered all our questions, dealt with anything that came up (often outside normal hours), and really took the stress out of what could have been an overwhelming experience.

Costs were explained clearly from the start, with no surprise fees along the way, which I truly appreciated. Their agents in New Zealand were also fantastic to deal with — fast, friendly, efficient, and professional.

Overall, the whole experience felt well-managed and reassuring from start to finish. I’m very grateful for the care and support Ruby Moves provided during such a major transition for our family

Seamless moving experience

Not happy

In the beginning I asked for a packet tobe sent to my home I was given a PDF file . I am not very good with computers. Was not sure until the week before our ship date if we would get a container. After sending our container it went to a random inspection
All we were given was a phone number to call about when the container would be released. I do not feel Ruby represented our interests.yhe quote for shipping was also not close.I during inspection many of our items were stained with grease.I would not recommend using this company.they took our m only and left us on our own.

First, at no time were we requested to send a paper copy of the documents. Regardless, our company does not mail physical document packets, and all clients receive their paperwork electronically. Our coordinator also spent over an hour on the phone with you, walking you step-by-step through every form to ensure you felt supported and confident.

Regarding the container availability, we booked and arrived as scheduled with the container for you to self-load. We updated you with the arrival date as soon as the steamship line confirmed the earliest date which was in line with your preferred load date.

You also signed documentation acknowledging the possibility of a random U.S. Customs inspection. These inspections are entirely random and beyond our control and can happen to any shipment. Because you were calling multiple times per day requesting status updates, and because the inspection site does not provide us updates until the inspection is fully completed, we provided you with their direct contact information so you could obtain real-time details. We only receive two notifications: when a container is pulled for inspection and when it is released.

Your final invoice matched your original quotation exactly. The only additional charges were for insurance, an optional service you chose to add and the Customs inspection fees, which were billed directly from the inspection center. These were not charges assessed by us.

With regard to your concerns about staining: U.S. Customs and Border Protection does not use grease during inspections. Officers wear protective gloves, and we have no involvement in the handling of the goods during this process. Additionally, your container was self-loaded, and we provided full guidance throughout that process.

We take pride in offering hands-on support, and our team assisted you continuously throughout your move. For these reasons, we do not feel your comments accurately reflect the services provided.

We sincerely wish you the best in your new home.

Excellent Experience from the start to…

Excellent Experience from the start to the End....I was very much while moving whole household internationally but Ruby Movers had made it very easy...They were very helpful from the signing the paperwork, scheduling pick up, loading goods on vessel and even delivering goods to Australia. Their pick up team from the US was excellent and I was very surprised by their delivering team efficiency in Melbourne, Australia. Highly Recommend. They even deliver way before their delivering window. Very good at communication, advising and delivering what they promised. I originally signed contract with another moving company but thank god, i cancelled with them and Sent my good through Ruby Movers. Dont look at saving few dollars, Ruby Movers are the best and they deliver what they promised. Cant Thank Enough. Much appreciated.

Absolutely flawless moving experience…

Absolutely flawless moving experience from start to finish. First, the level of organization and detail put into prepping for the move was outstanding. This made moving day very smooth. All of my furniture was carefully wrapped and loaded properly. The team was very careful and precise when loading and moving items into the container. They were very patient with us. The moving crew all worked very well together. Overall a great experience and highly recommend Ruby International.

A very disappointing experience and…

A very disappointing experience and future customers beware.
We arranged our family move from the US to the UK with Ruby International and have been extremely disappointed with their service. We were threatened into paying unjustified costs, without providing any evidence of the additional fees. At best they have been incompetent, at worse liars.

This is my second attempt to post this review as my first was removed without explanation.

We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience, and Mr. Hogg, we appreciate the opportunity and platform you have given us to respond and clarify the circumstances of your move so future clients are well informed.

From the very beginning of our communication, we were transparent about the possibility of last-minute schedule changes due to steamship line schedule updates through the process. This is unfortunately a standard disclaimer in international shipping and happen quite frequently and we discussed it with you prior to booking, both verbally (throughout numerous calls) as well as written communication outlining the costs of these potential delays. In fact, your signed agreement explicitly outlines the potential for such changes, and the associated holding costs if they occur.

Unfortunately, your shipment was affected by one such last-minute steamship line schedule change. As soon as we were informed, we notified you in writing with proof of the date and time the notification was received by our office where you acknowledged receipt in writing. This was not as a delay tactic, but simply because that’s when the schedule update was relayed to us by the carrier. At that time, we reminded you of the cost implications, as per the agreement.

At one point to remind you Mr. Hogg, you not only acknowledged verbally the possibility of these additional costs however, even mentioned that you preferred to cover these costs if incurred rather than put your family, including young children, through the inconvenience of a delayed departure or hotel stay. We worked closely with you through over 10 emails back and forth with the ocean freight carrier and yourself to accommodate your preferred loading window.

Once your container was loaded and placed on a chassis (which was prior to receipt of the delay notification by the carrier), it had to remain secured until its scheduled return to the port. Removing the container early or storing it off-chassis is not a permissible option. Containers are placed on a chassis by the local port/rail/port authority workers and removed from the chassis once delivered back to the rail and/or port by the port/rail/port authority workers using heavy equipment.

Regarding the invoice: The additional $2,100 reflected the exact total of daily charges outlined and quoted to you. We never "threatened" you—rather, we explained that as per our clearly stated payment terms, we could not allow the shipment to depart the U.S. without full payment. This is standard industry practice to ensure all costs are settled before release. This was explained when you advised you were not going to pay the charges.

We understand the stress involved in international relocations, especially with a young family, and we did everything in our power to keep you informed and supported throughout the process. The UK agent you praised is part of our trusted global network, and we're glad their service met your expectations.

Posting a 1-star review due to your frustration of having to pay for additional charges associated with delays in which you were advised and aware of possibly occurring in advance of proceeding is unethical and misrepresents the situation. Posting your 1-star review was solely done to try to hinder our excellent reputation. Ruby International did not cause the delay, did not profit from it, and on the contrary spent significant time and resources managing the outcome of these steamship line delays.

We stand by the accuracy of our process, detailed communication throughout the process and documentation and wish you and your family the best in your new home.

We have used Ruby Moves twice

We have used Ruby Moves twice, most recently to ship door-to-door furniture, books and household goods from Berkeley CA to Burgundy, France. Helen and Ayal were readily available by phone for the many occasions when we had questions or needed clear explanations. We were informed by e-mail or telephone about every scheduled event and everything happened according to schedule. The two men who arrived to pack up our personal belongings were punctual, efficient, courteous and furthermore, when we unpacked our things in France, we saw everything had been carefully packed for shipment. In France, the two men were also punctual, courteous and efficient in getting 65 boxes and items of furniture up a hill and a flight of stairs. We can't imagine a more top-notch moving company. Thank you Ruby International!

Avoid this company at all costs. Incompetent and disingenuous.

Well, true to form, Ruby continues to shirk responsibility, to distort facts, and to renege on any of the few useful "solutions" it proposed. Unfortunately, as a result, I must reiterate that the company is to be avoided at all costs. I am left having paid top dollar for recklessly and incompetently packed and transported high value items which also are cherished family heirlooms. I will be reporting my experience with this company to consumer protection agencies and other relevant public entities. Something is deeply wrong with this company and its personnel. I have moved across this globe numerous times and NEVER experienced such incompetence and outright refusal to even attempt to make things right.

To set the record straight: your assigned salesperson was respectful, communicative, and accommodating throughout, generous to a fault. To characterize him as “arrogant” or “inept” is simply untrue and deeply unfair.

It’s important to note that during our numerous phone conversations, you personally acknowledged how wonderful and professional the crews were on both ends of your move. You praised Royal Hawaiian, our origin agent in Hawaii, for their excellent service. Royal Hawaiian is a trusted, top-tier provider that services both private clients as well as our U.S. military contracts—and they packed your shipment with care and professionalism.

Regarding crating: you were offered professional-grade solid wood crating, which is the only type we provide. You explicitly declined this option in writing. On May 10, 2025, you emailed: “No crate! Thank you all so much!” Any claim that you were denied crating or misled about options is not supported by the facts. We understand that damages to sentimental items can be upsetting. But when delicate items are shipped without proper crating, especially internationally, risk increases and that decision was yours to which you declined.

With that being said, in addition to the insurance purchased, we offered to schedule a high end furniture restoration specialist to come to the residence to view the damages in order to estimate the cost of repair in which you declined.

We stand behind our responsibilities and the professionalism of everyone who worked on your move and continue to do so.

Deploying is hard...Rubymoves makes it easy!

Helen, with Rubymoves, was my coordinator and she was fantastic. Over the phone we went over all the box dimensions and furniture descriptions and how to prepare for the movers. She placed all the info into the system and told me what else I had room for. When the moving team came to my house they carefully wrapped all the parts to my mahogany Sleigh Bed, and packed all the boxes into a crate in less than 1 hour. The men were kind, professional, polite, and very understanding of my situation. Thank you Rubymoves for such a great Team to help me deploy!

1bedroom apartment moving overseas

I moved my 1 bedroom apartment from Brooklyn, NY USA to İstanbul, Turkey. They have top-notch moving partners in Brooklyn, NY. All my furniture and items were packed professionally and cataloged in detail. I forgot some items and they arranged pick ups later on. Helen explained the whole process in detail and was patient and responsive as I navigated the complicated language amd process of moving overseas. Eyal did a detailed survey before I decided to use Rubymoves and made me feel at ease about the process moving forward. Helen stayed in contact until my shipment reached the docks in İstanbul and was responsive the whole time.

Professional and responsive

I wasn't familiar with RubyMoves/Ruby International, but after getting several estimates, my company chose them to handle the relocation of our household from southern Italy to southern Oklahoma after long-term overseas employment. From first contact, there was great communication -- they kept me informed at every step and responded quickly (sometimes after hours!) to any questions I had. They provided me with everything I needed to know, and told me exactly what info they needed from me. I complicated the import/export procedures by including some dutiable stuff in the shipment, and they even made that easy for me; they sent me the necessary forms and customs clearance was quickly and professionally handled.
Their affiliates in Italy and their crew here in the States were all hard-working and efficient. Our things were packed well and delivered in the same condition in which they were shipped. Unloading was done quickly and while we didn't want much unpacked or assembled, that little bit was done perfectly in accordance with our wishes.
The final item -- our car -- was unloaded at the end of our driveway this morning, shiny and ready to drive.
As someone who hates moving, I must say that Ruby International's professional door-to-door service made it a fairly painless experience!

Un dolor de cabeza

Un dolor de cabeza, al principio todos muy amables, contestaban de inmediato ante cualquier pregunta, pero una ves que se pago el inicial, las cosas cambiaron , preguntaba para cuando pasarian a recojer mi mudanza, y contestaban despues de 5 o mas dias, y solo decian aun no hay fecha, , al preguntar nuevamente sencilamente me ignoraron, hasta que un dia me vi obligado a mandar un correo a todos los que aparecen en los contactos y puse una resena n egativa, hasta entonces me contactan y me piden que porfavor borre mi resena que eso hace que la compania se vea mal, y, por no querer replesarias, la quite, el caso es que por fin mandan por mi carga, y otra ves el martirio y el ignorarme, me dicen que ya recogida la carga, en una semana estaria ya en el b arco rumbo al destino, y que paso, nada que pasaron los dias, las semanas y nada, hasta que por fin, despues de 3 semanas o mas, mi carga sale hacia su destino, y solo entonces, el personal en Colombia da una muestra magnifica de lo que es el servicio al cliente, muy contrastatante con las personas en USA,Melissa Sanchez para ser mas especifico, que solo recibieron la plata se olvidan de uno, no la recomiendo para nada,

If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would. Helen, who is supposedly the owner was the most unprofessional woman I have ever met. When her company made multiple mistakes, and I pointed them out (lost furniture that was to be delivered to the container), she got upset, said she would not be shipping my furniture and hung up on me. She was holding hostage my $20K worth of belongings and my deposit, let alone I had to figure out how to get my belongings and ship them overseas.
My contract explicitly stated they would take inventory of the products. The first shipment from Wayfair they did take inventory, sent pictures of the product to confirm it was correct. When it came to Pottery Barn, they did not do this. I requested the packing slip and pictures. They did neither. They sent the list I had sent, and I shared that was not the packing slip and I didn't see any pictures. There was a missing chandelier and a dresser that was sent that was not even close to what I had ordered, so I am out of $1500 and a white dresser when all of the other furniture is a soft black.
Helen agreed to one price for storage, and changed the amount in the end. It was my fault that I did not get it in writing, I initially trusted her, that was my mistake. She tried to charge twice for transporting, and I was able to make them take that off of the bill.
They purposely do not take credit cards so you are unable to dispute the charges, this should have been the red flag that kept me away from them!
She was very pleasant in the beginning until she was held responsible for the work.
I wish this woman and her company would have taken as much time with the work that I hired them to do, as she is taking responding to a complaint.
DO NOT HIRE!!! IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!

Our company was contracted to receive and load new furniture from Pottery Barn and Wayfair into a 20-foot container for shipment to Panama. Our responsibilities included receiving manufacturer-packed items and loading them into the container at our warehouse. Our services did not include opening, inventorying, or repacking the manufacturer-sealed items.

Here is a cut and paste portion of our contract referring to services included in this client contract:

Service Inclusions:

• Receiving and loading of all packed, wrapped, inventoried, and labeled by owner household goods and personal effects in our warehouse
• Preparation of export documentation including complete shipper’s export declaration, bills of lading, export customs clearance AES filing
• Toll, fuel, and broker fees at origin
• Ocean freight and transportation through to port of Panama
• Customs clearance of household goods and personal effects in Panama
• Weekday delivery and unloading of household goods and personal effects to one normal access location
• Unpacking of furniture on date of delivery
• Removal of debris on date of delivery

Client stating in her review "My contract explicitly stated they would take inventory of the products" is another false statement.

During the process, all items were received and loaded as per the contract, with the exception of a chandelier that was not shipped with the original order. We offered to hold the shipment until the chandelier was received, but the client, due to time constraints related to her travel plans, requested that we proceed with the shipment without it.
Subsequently, the client has made a claim of non-receipt of the chandelier, despite being informed that it was not received at origin before the shipment. The chandelier was later shipped directly to the client at the destination by the store. The client’s current assertion that the chandelier is missing is false.
Additionally, the client has claimed that a dresser was not received. The dresser was indeed received at origin, loaded into the container, and signed for by the client at the destination. When questioned about the insurance claim, the client stated that the model number on the dresser did not match the one she ordered. However, her insurance claim incorrectly reports the dresser as missing which is false.
After informing the client and the insurance company of the discrepancies in her claims, the client has accused us of holding her shipment hostage, which is not true as the shipment was delivered as scheduled. The client has also filed a complaint with the BBB and posted negative reviews online containing false statements.
