Absolutely devastated
I'm absolutely devastated. I sent footage to the police and reported violent abuse to a 5 year old dog that is terrorised on a daily basis by a violent ex rapist who served time. He punches its face in, kicks it and tortures it. Finally, after months of advocating for it, it was seized but I was told it was being returned to the abuser. It was checked by a vet who said it could be released back to the man due to not finding injuries. Again, this is despite overwhelming evidence that was submitted. A man gets sent back to prison for stealing £75 worth of fizzy drinks but a man abusing his dog is rewarded. The system is a joke and makes the RSPCA and UK law an absolute disgrace.

Thank you for sharing your concerns, we truly appreciate how frustrating and upsetting it is to report an animal you have serious concerns for and to feel nothing has been done. We are unclear from your review if you reported your concerns to the RSPCA as well as to the police.
As a charity, the RSPCA has no more legal powers than any other member of the public, so rely on their understanding and knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to try getting improvements for animals. As a charity with no legal powers, I’m afraid we're not able to remove animals without them being signed over to us by either the police or the owner.

A fantastic way to help animals when you have a busy schedule
I was looking for ways to help animals but as I work long hours it was difficult to find the time. As an RSPCA micro-volunteer I can complete small, flexible tasks. There's an interesting range of activities and I can select the ones I want to do, such as helping with wildlife surveys, putting up a bird box, and learning what to do if I find a sick animal. Their volunteer site is easy to use and I record the activities I've completed. I love the regular newsletters, helpful videos, encouraging messages from staff, and new things to learn about protecting wildlife. It's such a rewarding experience. I recommend it to anyone who wants to help animals and it really does add up to make a difference.

I´ve been a member of the RSPCA…
I´ve been a member of the RSPCA volunteer team for a good few years now. I´ve always found the staff and other volunteers to be extremely helpful and they always act in the best interests of any animal, and all cruelty they unfortunately come across or which is reported. For me, they are the best and are under extremely tight resources but they´re doing their best for all animals. Thank you.

Thank you for your very kind review and for volunteering for the RSPCA. We are incredibly grateful to all of our volunteers who generously give their time to support the animals in our care and promote good animal welfare.
Our frontline officers do have heavy workloads and travel wide areas to respond to as many jobs as they can each day. While they have no more legal powers than any other member of the public they are thoroughly trained and use their understanding of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to try to improve the lives of the animals they visit, on many occasions these are made in cooperation with owners responding to the advice they have been given.

Microvolunteering
I recently started taking part in microvolunteering as I wasn't able to find any in-person volunteering with the RSPCA. I find this option really great for people like myself or others who may not be able to do physical volunteering but still want to take part! I noticed a lot of negative reviews for RSPCA; I have not experienced any issues, as I have not had to report or contact the RSPCA for any animal welfare issues. However, not all organisations are always able to help or be there for every situation. I do sincerely hope that the RSPCA continues to fulfil its role in rescuing, rehoming, and providing proper care and protection for animals in need.

Thank you so much for your kind review and we’re so pleased you are enjoying your experience volunteering. We are truly grateful to all of our Microvolunteers and the time they donate to us as even quick activities can make such a big difference to the welfare of animals.
There are around 330 RSPCA officers spread across England and Wales who have very busy workloads and cover wide areas of the countries. As a charity with limited resources we are sadly unable to attend every report we receive (nearly a million calls and quarter of a million online reports yearly) but we try our best to prioritise our most urgent calls. Our dedicated officers are out 365 days a year to try to respond to as many reports as they can.

Volunteer & Adopter
I am a long time volunteer for the RSPCA's Birmingham Animal Centre & can only be positive about my experiences. I spend time in the Cattery, Small Animal Unit & help with fundraising events & it is a joy, with benefits to both physical & mental wellbeing. Staff are friendly & always willing to answer questions, so the experience also provides learning opportunities (& it allows first hand experience of how hard the staff work & how difficult situations can be at times).
I have also adopted cats from the centre & found the process to be easy & straightforward, with follows ups made by the centre post adoption to ensure all was ok.
I would recommend both volunteering & adoption from the RSPCA as in my experience, both are very rewarding.

In just under a year of volunteering, I have experienced firsthand the great appreciation the public has for the invaluable work the RSPCA has done. Being the world's first national animal welfare charity is more than inspirational. Two centuries of pioneering animal welfare place it as a global leader in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and advocacy - and I can't recommend it enough to volunteers wanting to join their effort and campaigning to prevent cruelty and shape modern animal protection standards.

I reported in June my neighbour throwing her cat out of the window nothing was done for ages you eventually checked on the cat which as I said was skinny where I also contacted the police because she got someone to go in my garden and get it .now at 7 o’clock this morning once again but this time a tiny skinny kitten has come out of her window again. Your phone number is useless never got anybody to come out and you get enough donations nobody interested in helping this poor skinny kitten it’s disgusting so when my neighbour comes home from work that poor thing has got to go back. It is so wrong she should not be allowed to have animals. And I’m being told by RSPCA emails to monitor the kitten that’s a joke not my job it’s yours who knows what she does to them inside the house the kitten is about 6weeks old and skinny the RSPCA is a joke 😡😡😡😡😡

I was a volunteer at RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Shelter. I do voluntary work online for RSPCA. I do voluntary work at Cats Protection in Derby.I feel involved with the RSPCA even when I can't travel as I have not got a car and during epidemics including covid.

Volunteer dog walker
I have been a volunteer dog walker at the Birmingham Animal Centre, and prior to a change in the way it had to be done due to Covid, a pre adoption home visitor, for 27 years.
I love working with the dogs, and with the staff who are all so dedicated to the animals, so helpful to the volunteers, and show genuine appreciation for our help.

RSPCA Newbrook Farm
I first came to the RSPCA (Newbrook Farm) when I adopted my cats, Lemur in 2014 and Wotsit in 2020. Sadly, they have since both passed away and losing them has been incredibly hard. I was not quite ready to adopt again, but knew I still wanted to be involved with the RSPCA so I recently began fostering at Newbrook Farm and the support I’ve received from the team whilst fostering has been amazing. Whenever I’ve had a question, needed advice or just wanted a bit of reassurance, there has always been someone there to help. That support has made such a difference and has given me the confidence to keep fostering. I’m incredibly grateful to the RSPCA for bringing Lemur and Wotsit into my life and for giving me the opportunity to become a cat fosterer. I would wholeheartedly recommend the RSPCA to anyone thinking about adopting or fostering. The work they do for animals is so important, and I feel very lucky to now be a small part of it.

We have adopted 3 dogs from the RSPCA Birmingham Animal centre. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely care for all the animals there.
8 years ago, I became a volunteer dog walker and absolutely love it!

RSPCA has limited resources and it…
RSPCA has limited resources and it seems terrible that they can’t respond to every situation. But my experience of the people who work and volunteer there is that they care deeply for the animals who come into their shelters, often in very distressing situations. I have nothing but admiration for the Inspectors in particular.

I support the RSPCA with dibations has…
I support the RSPCA with dibations has they do amazing work 24 hours a day 7 days a week. All their is paid for by donations by caring members of the public. They receive no money from the Government. I have nothing but the upmost respect for everyone at the RSPCA.helping rescue aninals that are suffering cruelry or neglect. Many animals are attacked for no reason by strangers.
I support the RSPCA so togeter when cam put an end to animal suffering and cruelty and give them the love and support they need and deserve.Thamk you RSPCA..

Thank Goodness for the RSPCA
I've adopted from the RSPCA and had the opportunity to shadow an inspector. It's clear how much they care for the animals in their charge and for animals they are looking out for. The care staff and fosterers were so good with the kitties we have adopted. They truly care about the cats and who they are rehomed to. I could never do the inspectors' job. They see so much misery yet they are constrained by the laws of the land which means at times they can't do what they'd like to for animals in need. When they are able to, they take the necessary steps to help. I applaud the RSPCA for everything they do to help animals.

A fabulous, dedicated charity focussed on the needs of animals and excellent to volunteer with
First I adopted a cat from our local RSPCA and was really impressed with the attention to detail of the adoption process and the focus on the animal needs as well as our situation and what we were looking for and what we could offer. We have a wonderful new family member now, our cat Sky. I then became an online volunteer and find it a brilliant experience in which I feel I am supporting an excellent organisation dedicated to makiing life better for all animals. Additionally there is great support and communication with us volunteers and it has added extra interest and focus to my week.
