Possibly a FRAUD site!

I recently subscribed to one of their creators pages. I love the artwork they create so paid a year in advance ($239.76). After I had paid this money it became clear that the creator in question hasnt been active on Patreon for over 6 months.

I contacted Patreon about this, and they told me I had to contact the creator for a refund. I sent the creator a message and received absolutely no response back.

I contacted Patreon again about it and they are refusing point blank to do anything about it. They keep telling me that its only the creator that can issue a refund and they wont get involved in that decision.

So what is it called when a company such as Patreon take a large sum of money off you for a creator that isnt active on their site, then refuse, point blank, to do anything about it... in my book that's FRAUD!

I am now looking into filing a fraud report against them with the San Francisco Police Department as that is where Patreon is based.

But AVOID Patreon like the plague. I feel terrible about saying that as there are many wonderful creators on there... however, when things go wrong, Patreon wash their hands of the situation!

Essentially a scam website that tricks you into paying way more than you realised you committed to.

I found an awesome map making creator, who sold their assets via an all-in membership, on Patreon. I signed up, happy to support the talented artist. What I didn't know and was never explained to me is that I would then be later charged £52 in the same month, because the creator made seven separate 'posts' which amounted to written updates about what they'd be doing. Ironically, it amounted to just short of a full years membership. I would have subscribed for ever. Not now. I have cancelled and requested a charge back from my bank.

It is impossible to be an NSFW creator on this platform. They ban accounts, seize funds, and reject appeals without any explanation. They even ban supporters without refunding their subscriptions if they type something the content filter dislikes.
The functionality is outdated, and there is zero protection against piracy or scrapers. Withdrawal options overall, and especially for Ukraine are extremely limited - with no direct-to-card transfers, naturally. The support is slow and feels like an automated algorithm rather than real human beings - very arrogant and ignoring too.
It is FRAUD in its purest form.

Here's what happened: I subscribed to the annual membership channel of "US Stock Explosion" in September. His content frequently contained errors, and I continued to point them out to him last week. To avoid ambiguity due to your inability to understand Chinese, I will translate it into English. The problems I pointed out are as follows:
1. In the post I made on November 14th, I misspelled the stock code KTOS as ATOS. This had a significant impact.
2. A week ago, he urgently urged members to buy 7% of the SNDK, but two days later in a video, he secretly changed it to 3%.
The two issues above reflect the creator's lack of rigor and may even indicate deceptive behavior.

Then this is his answer to me:
1. They insulted me and my mother, using language such as "f*** your mother".
2. Instead of explaining the problem, they mocked me, calling me a "leek" (a term for someone easily exploited) and saying I needed to pay more to get a reply.
3. Permanently block my account.

The current situation is:
1. They canceled my annual membership, and after communicating with me, they haven't refunded a single penny, and they continue to verbally abuse me.
2. All of his past posts are no longer viewable because they have been blocked.

My demands:
1. Refund of remaining subscription fees based on the number of days subscribed.
2. The creator apologized.

Latest developments:
I sent five emails explaining the situation, providing relevant evidence, and showing payment records. Customer service still refused a partial refund, citing that I didn't meet the refund requirements. I'd like to ask, if even this doesn't meet the refund requirements, then what exactly constitutes a refund? Furthermore, the platform won't help me report the creator. I've wasted so much time, and customer service just copied and pasted like a robot, doing absolutely nothing.

Finally, I hope everyone who reads this will stay away from this despicable content creator, 【美股爆裂股手】

Patreon hat einfach den Account deaktiviert, obwohl ich ausschliesslich Kreative unterstützt hatte. Angeblich wären verdächtige Aktivitäten auf meinem Account zu verzeichnen, obwohl meine Aktivität lediglich darin bestand, monatlich den Kreativen Geld zukommen zu lassen. Nun soll ich viele Datenschutzrechtliche Daten von mir preisgeben, damit der Account wieder aktiviert wird. Das ist dreister Datenklau, mehr nicht. Ich werde ihn einfach zur Löschung freigeben, schade um die Kreativen, die ich dann nicht mehr unterstützen kann

If you heard about the reddit r/art thing, my experience with Patreon was basically the same.

My account I put a ton of work into suddenly got a ton of confusing, unclear warnings. (I INSTANTLY created a support ticket asking for guidance and my account was deactivated basically the moment I got a response.) My account was then deactivated before I could even do anything, even though the notifications said I had 3 days to react.

My appeals were denied with a level of arrogance and stupidity I may not have experienced before, and that's a high bar. Thankfully I lost none of my work because I'm probably more organized than they are, despite being a mess.

If you're a creator and think this is a serious platform because they somehow have a reputation - yeah, they're not. Absolutely avoid unless you want to deal with power-tripping paid reddit mods.

Tried to work out a coupon issue that was sent directly thru their system. I asked for help before the promotion ended. Customer service didn't reach out until after the promotion ended. They said the coupon was in control of the creator, but the creator said it was them. Either way, I will never be a Patreon customer if they are going to send out promotional emails that I can't redeem.

❌ Creator ghostet – Tickets werden geleugnet („no tickets exist“)
❌ Patreon lehnt Refund ab – „Creator entscheidet“, ignoriert EU-Recht (§ 355 BGB, 2011/83/EU)
❌ Gesamtschuldnerische Haftung als Plattform → wird nicht übernommen
❌ ToS „Compliance with local laws“ → nicht eingehalten

Fazit:
Patreon ist keine sichere Plattform.
Sie schützen Betrüger, ignorieren EU-Verbraucherrechte und verweigern Refunds bei offensichtlichem Scam.
Verbraucherzentrale + EU-ODR eingeschaltet – Mahnbescheid folgt.
Nie wieder Patreon. Finger weg!

Cancelled my subscription to avoid having to pay for the next month, but my privileges were removed promptly, with 30 days to go for the subscription I just paid for. Avoid.

Was billed early and after contacting customer support it's clear they do not care. They agree I was billed two months early for an annual subscription as it was paused for two months but won't extend my membership by two months to balance it out. It's like dealing with the admin from Little Britain. "Computer says no"

Have NEVER heard of this, let alone subscribe!
Have reported to bank as fraud, this company has been taking payments for months.

I’m deeply disappointed with Patreon’s lack of transparency, especially regarding tipsters selling predictions.

There’s no way to see their past results or performance, which makes it easy for scammers to operate. I’ve personally lost money after trusting so-called “experts” who turned out to be completely unqualified.

Patreon is enabling this by not requiring tipsters to show any track record. This hurts users and damages the platform’s reputation.

If Patreon cares about its community, they need to implement rules: show past predictions, allow user reporting, and protect patrons from being misled.

I’m writing this because I’ve personally lost money and know many others have too. Patreon allows people to sell predictions—especially in betting or finance—without any form of transparency or accountability.

Many so-called “tipsters” claim to be experts, but have no actual track record to back up their claims. Once you subscribe, you often find out they’re not just unqualified—they're misleading and sometimes outright scamming people. And yet Patreon continues to give them a platform to profit.

There’s no way to view past predictions, results, or real performance stats before subscribing. This leaves people vulnerable to fake claims and dishonest marketing.

Patreon is directly enabling this by failing to:

Require tipsters to show past performance

Provide any transparency for paid advice

Give users tools to report fraudulent accounts

Add proper disclaimers on risky content

It’s incredibly disappointing, and it damages trust in the Patreon platform as a whole.

Until Patreon sets real standards and protects its users, I strongly advise people to be cautious—especially when dealing with anyone selling predictions or financial advice on their platform.

Patreon must do better. Real people are being misled and losing money, and that’s not acceptable.

A good idea but pretty poorly managed in lots of ways. If I unsubscribe from a member I will still get all their posts until the end of the subscription period. Home pages don't dynamically update and refreshing sometimes just sits there forever. The builtin player is pretty garbage so you're better off downloading things and playing them in a useful app.

This company clearly don’t read their reviews, or their so-called support page for that matter. I cannot listen to podcasts on Patreon because an error message always appears saying an error has occurred, or something, and the podcast just endlessly loads. Having read the numerous other identical experiences online from Patreon users, the only fix appears to be to turn your WiFi off and use mobile data. This works, but I am damned if I’m going to waste my data in my own house, which has perfectly good WiFi. I have unsubscribed to all podcasts I was subscribed to, and in the long-term this “glitch” will have a detrimental effect on podcasters and subscribers alike. I would urge podcasters to use an alternative platform for their subscribed podcasts and vote with your feet. Patreon are not fit for purpose.

I subscribed to a podcast on the Patreon platform. I was never given a way to login. Finally, the creator of the podcast provided a link for me to access. Now it no longer works. Patreon has no way to contact them. Check out their website. I had to block charges through my credit card company because Patreon lacks any kind of customer service.

I was an AI-powered content creator.
I created posters, fan art, and entirely fictional models that didn't represent anyone.
I had over 500 posts to my name, published sets of 20-30 images twice a week, and was close to the free community, which I also published weekly.

Posting NSFW works, I always cooperated very respectfully and quickly with the platform to correct any issues or inappropriate posts.

I had 382 members, 14 paying members at €6 a month. It wasn't much, but in today's world, if it meant a "little extra something at the end of the month"...

Patreon closed and deleted my page overnight. They didn't explain their decision. They simply told me I could appeal, which I did. 24 hours later, I received a copy-pasted response stating that there was no going back; the page would not be restored. Allegedly, this was a violation of regulations... Until then, I had always been notified, guided, and supported to correct any potential problems in a post, and then, suddenly, there was no further communication, and it was deleted.

I subscribed to a creator’s Patreon tier in July 2025 that clearly promised specific services. The creator delivered nothing. I contacted the creator directly with no response, then reached out to Patreon support multiple times.

My case was handled by three different reps — Vanessa, Alex, and Kyle. Despite explaining that this was non-delivery of services (not a creative dispute), each denied my refund request by citing Patreon’s blanket refund policy. Kyle even said the decision was final and Patreon would no longer respond.

I truly wish I had visited Trustpilot first to see how incompetent their customer service is. From my experience, it felt like no one ever seriously reviewed my case. The fact that Patreon allows anyone to create a page, advertise services, take money, and then leave refunds “optional” to the seller — even if nothing is delivered — shows a complete lack of consumer protection.

This is about more than my $33. Patreon is enabling fraudulent practices and leaving paying members with zero recourse. If you are considering using Patreon, be aware: if a creator takes your money and delivers nothing, Patreon will not help you.
