Don't expect any grace from Names, in spite of their prices.
I was with Names for years and then one day just recently I mistakenly renewed an email address that we don't use and won't be used.
I called and asked if the item could be refunded and in spite of appealing twice, Names refused any refund or credit.
If they were the cheapest around, I would have shrugged my shoulders and moved on but £89 for an email is a lot these days and this was the only request I had ever made to them.
I made it clear I would then look to move my domains away and they didn't seem bothered. The first one has gone today.

I have submitted a ticket to Names a week ago as they deleted my whole website after a long delay in response due to a technical support ticket and still not had a reply. Tried calling and was left on hold with no answer. Shocking customer service.

HISTORY:
Rip off price for renewal so I decided to move on BAD
Obviously, I needed to set the IPSTAG to the destination. DONE
Next I was required to pay the equivalent of a year's renewal to transfer my domain out. BAD
OK not great but I accepted it and Paid. DONE
My domain immediately disappeared from my control panel so I have not further control. That would be OK if the domain moved to the new company. BAD
A week later the domain hasn't arrived and the new provider tell me that the IPSTag remains set to namesco. BAD
Phoned today and got through to tech team after 5 minutes. So OK
Then asked for technical support - simple matter of setting the IPSTAG. They 'can't' apparently so I am transferred to another internal number - Customer Support. 15 minutes of intentionally irritating music later nobody to speak with me BAD

A Year ago i spent £2.99 for a domain name for a project that came to nothing.
Today i had a reminder of the renewal which i had no intention of doing so. So i checked my account to ensure that 'auto renewal' was off...it was.
At the bottom of their webpage it states that you can look at the pricing by clicking renew... so i did... the next thing on my screen said "thanks for renewing".... £47.99 taken! No chance to autorize... just taken! I called to ask it to be reversed and tell them what had happened and they said it could not.... rediculous! Have now contacted my bank as i beleive that (even if it was a glitch on their system) that this is fraud.
Also contacting trading standards.
