I used MinuteBox for one week before our firm gave up and switched to another product. Essential functions such as generating share certificate numbers either do not work or do not exist. As a result, the registers and ledgers generated are incomplete and have to be manually entered. Document automation does not support Word format and has no conditional logic. This makes it functionally useless to generate legal documents. You lose all formatting. The support service is slow and unable to keep up with the demands of a mid sized law firm.

I have over 15 years of experience using many different entity management applications in Canada. I recently used MinuteBox for 8 months while working for a law firm in Halifax, NS. Based on my experience, I rate the performance of MinuteBox as beyond poor.

The software is buggy, incomplete and poorly designed. These were the biggest problems:

Not possible to track or generate share certificates.
Not possible to generate reports, registers or ledgers.
Recording of share transactions is inefficient and glitchy.
Not possible to record multi-party ownership (ex., trust scenarios).
Unable to record numbered companies as shareholders.
Document automation is next to impossible. All you can do is "fill the blanks". No conditional logic available to select the required data.
Generation of documents in native Word document format is not supported. You generate and edit in HTML text format and can download to docx documents, making the process tedious and very impractical.
No government forms libraries available for generation.
Poor or non-existent user manuals . No help content published on the web or within the application. Technical support is not easily available.
To add/remove a new document to the virtual minute book, you must download the entire minute book PDF to the desktop and then insert/remove the document via Adobe. There is no PDF file hierarchy in the software.
Once the software has more than a dozen entities, it grinds to halt and does not load.
When the firm acquired the application, we were promised that the features would be ready in a couple of weeks. After months, the promised features were still not available and kept being delayed.
MinuteBox presented a very compelling demo in the sales process, but it became clear that the product is so poorly designed and built that it is not functional for common usage. Tasks such as running compliance reports, generating resolutions, or creating a share certificate, are glitchy, incomplete, or absent. You honestly would find more functionality even just using a spreadsheet.

I would highly advise any firm evaluating MinuteBox to reconsider.
