Great Company, wonderful hospitality

I absolutely loved Ohana Shores! This cute house is located in Lincoln City across the street from Roads End State Park. The home was absolutely perfect for my family of 5. Plus, its pet friendly with an ocean view.
Meredith Lodgings customer service was and is amazing. I would recommend Meredith Lodging to friends and family and anyone looking to vacation. Thank you for making this a perfect getaway. ❤

My family and I recently stayed at a home managed by Meredith lodging in Sunriver and was unfairly charged $500 for damage to the carpet which was there present on our arrival. It took me an agonizing week to even get to TALK to someone in management which was beyond frustrating. All of the receptionists I spoke with were helpful but there was nothing they could do to correct the mistake. It felt like Amber, the guest service representative who actually filed the incident report and charged me was avoiding my calls and only ever responded to me through a message from the receptionist. I finally was able to speak to someone in management a week after my first attempt at contacting them and thankfully they were able to look into the mistake and refund my money. I received an apology and a small credit to our account to use towards a future stay if we choose to do so but honestly don’t think I will take them up on that and don’t think I could recommend this company with a good conscious.

I will say that Amber is a stellar team member here and had no intention of avoiding you at all. Rather, she was working behind the scenes to try and clear up this issue. She was initially informed that you had made the damage and were aware of it. There was no uncertainty about it. She attempted to contact you & she emailed you to let you know what the charges would be. Upon getting your message saying this was not you, she began reaching out to anyone and everyone to find out the details and if there had been an error. She is the one who contacted her manager to discuss it and get approval for your damage refund. We are very sorry for the mistake and the delay in response while figuring this out. We have offered a $150 credit for your trouble. I know this was anything but perfect, but we do hope you will reconsider giving us a chance to win your business in the future. Thank you.

Outstanding customer service

Outstanding customer service. I have rented from them for the past few years, and their team really goes the extra mile. Houses on the Oregon coast have maintenance issues from time to time, but Meredith has stepped up every time. From fixing a broken lock, to providing wifi passwords. They even dropped off a bottle of wine and some fun Meredith Lodging wine glasses. The houses are always very clean. That is something I truly value. And its the little touches, like the origami on the paper towels...it shows they care. I have tried other rental services and they do not compare. Book with Meredith if you want a truly relaxing, hassle free vacation. We all need that from time to time.

Ive stayed at meredith lodging properties 3 different times. In 2020 i had reservations to stay in april was cancelled BY meredith lodging because of covid. Rescheduled for September again canceled by them because of fires. Called back on jan. 21st 2021 for same week as first reservation, just a year later. Was told it was going to cost me addition $1000.00. When they had canceled on me they stated i could rebook for future stay at no additional cost. Now that im trying to rebook they are trying to up the cost. Im even trying to rebook same month and same days of week. I would understand if it was more night or different day but its not. I think this is extremely dishonest and crooked. UPDATE shortly after this post i received a phone call from a young lady named Holly, she was very personal and remembered our conversation from 4 or 5 months ago. She addressed my concerns and was very helpful and kind. Needless to say, she honored what i was told in the beginning. She rebooked my vacation, in same property at no additional cost. I am filing a complaint regarding Meredith Lodging's unsafe COVID practices

I am filing a complaint against Meredith Lodging, an Oregon vacation home rental company. Meredith Lodging refused to refund a deposit on a vacation house that I later became unable to rent because of the COVID pandemic. Here is the basis of my complaint:

The information below was conveyed in writing on October 25, 2020 to Meredith Oksenhult, the owner of Meredith Lodging and on November 29, 2020 to Julie Johnson, the actual owner of the property. It describes the approaches I used to reach a fair and reasonable agreement with Meredith Lodging that would comply with governmental safety measures.

My family, friends and I rented the Wave Watchers’ House (WWH) in Lincoln City, Oregon for many years -- first through Zona Nelson, then through Pacific Retreats and finally with Meredith Lodging. A recent examination of my financial records indicated that since 2014, I have paid $11,309 for renting the Wave Watchers House. Before 2014, we paid Zona Nelson for renting the Wave Watchers at Thanksgiving as well. My friends, family and I were loyal renters and always did our best to take care of the WWH.

On October 25, 2020, in a written letter, I asked that Meredith Lodging (ML), the property management company that represents the WWH, to reduce the rental charge for our Thanksgiving 2020 holiday stay. In my letter, I explained that our group consisted of people over 70 years old who are at a high risk for contracting and suffering severe health consequences from COVID-19. In the past, we were able to have up to 10 people in the house and we reduced our rental costs that way. Our 2020 per person cost for the Wave Watchers rental would have been approximately $236 per person had the pandemic not struck the United States.

In mid-November, Federal, State, Municipal and Health authorities are all urged people not to gather in large groups for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In an Associated Press article that appeared in the November 20, 2020 Oregonian Newspaper, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “pleaded with Americans not to travel for Thanksgiving and not to spend the holiday with people outside their household.”

Because of the reality of COVID, only four of our original group of ten would have safely been able to stay at the Wave Watchers house for Thanksgiving 2020 – at a cost of $590 per person. This would have stretched our budgets considerably and consequently made our stay there unaffordable. When we agreed to rent the Wave Watchers House from Meredith Lodging in late 2019, we had no way of knowing that a pandemic would invade the United States and make our traditional Thanksgiving holiday unsafe and unaffordable for us – and would have violated the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a trusted arm of the the United States government.

We then asked Meredith Lodging to work with us to reach a reasonable compromise. In my October 25 letter, I requested that Meredith Lodging, the owner of the Wave Watchers House, and our group reach a fair compromise with which we could all live safely. Using the per person figure of $236 cited previously in this letter, a total cost for four of us staying at the Wave Watchers this Thanksgiving would have been $944. Since we already paid a deposit of $388.25, our outstanding balance would have been $555.75. We also told Meredith Lodging that we were willing to discuss shortening our 2020 stay at the Wave Watchers if that would have helped us reach an agreement. Unfortunately, our request for a reasonable compromise was turned down.
Because the COVID-19 pandemic made the cost of renting the WWH unaffordable and unsafe for us, we cancelled our Thanksgiving stay at the WWH and lost our deposit of $388.25. To make things even more unfair, a person who was in Lincoln City during this period observed that the Wave Watchers House was full of tenants for the entire time – proving that Meredith Lodging would not have lost any money by refunding us our deposit.

I requested that Meredith Lodging refund our deposit charge of $388.25 that my family, friends and I paid to them in December, 2019. This second request was denied as well.

I am once again requesting that Meredith Lodging refund the deposit of $388.25 that I paid in December 2019.

We have reviewed all the details surrounding your reservation. I see that we DID refund you in full for your deposit when we were unable to accommodate your request. Please note that the Oregon travel freeze was not in place at the time of your initial request. This is a very fluid and dynamic era that we are all in.

While a refund was not required, as a gesture of goodwill, a refund was provided. I do apologize that it took some time for our office staff to work through your request. Each property is individually owned, and while it is not normal practice to reduce the cost for a confirmed reservation due to a reduction in occupancy, staff did try to work with you on the situation (one that would help you and the property owner). And, understandably, you wanted to return to your favorite rental home for a lower cost. Memories and experiences are made in these properties and we want to see people enjoying that year after year.

Again, I do apologize that it took some time for us to process your request. I am very disappointed that we seem to have lost your loyal business due to a Covid complication that is out of our control. As to the statement that we are not following Covid safe practices, we have abided by every state and CDC recommended regulation from the onset of the Covid pandemic. Our cancellation policy had to be modified, exceptions considered at every turn, with many guests, employees and homeowners effected, we have worked hard, as so many businesses have, to continue to do the right thing.

BEAUTIFUL ON THE BEACH

We spent a week at "beautiful day" in Lincoln City Oregon.
What a great place to take the family for vacation, what an amazing home.

Sitting on the large deck watching the surf, sipping a hot cup of coffee in the morning was probably my favorite part, ok maybe it was sitting in the hot pool gazing at the stars in the night sky listening to the surf.

An awesome location, literally steps from the front door to beach walks, sandcastle building or looking for beach treasures.

We did have a last minute request to make an extension to our stay, and Theresa did all she could to accommodate our request, which we really appreciated. Everyone at Meredith Lodging was great to work with, and we felt they really wanted to make our stay perfect.

Thank you Theresa...and the rest of Meredith Lodging staff for the exceptional customer care.

I have used Meredith Lodging on 4…

I have used Meredith Lodging on 4 occasions now. '

This is a tough review to write because they do some things very well but they also do things that make me not want to book with them:

Pros:
They respond relatively quickly
They provided us a full credit to reuse within a year when they were not obligated to do so
The booking confirmation is efficient

Negatives:
The 4/5 pm check-in times and 11am check out - if you want us out by 11am let us in the rental by 3pm please - they need to get their cleaners on a more efficient schedule instead of passing on the burden to the renters

The last house we rented (Star of the Sea in Lincoln City), had a great view but the inside needed a LOT of work and one of the 4 bedrooms was super noisy.

I would be open to using them again if they can get earlier check-in times. For now, I will go through another property management company or rent direct via family/friends

I am so sorry to hear this. We really do not want anything in your negative column! I'd like to see if we can help you out with that. First, it is true that we have a later check in than many hotels. Most of the year it is at 4pm, just one hour later, as we have many homes, and very large homes to thoroughly clean. Not just a hotel room. Then, in the busy summer season, it is pushed to 5. While we would absolutely love to accommodate a 3pm check in, the reality is that it can be very challenging to hire enough staff that live here on the coast for that seasonal help. And we offer the most competitive salary for season help in the industry! All that aside for a minute, we really appreciate our return renters, our loyal family of guests who return year after year, like you. I will reach out to you privately to provide you with a discount on your next stay and an "early check in or late check out." Thank you Kevin for your review. This is how we improve.

Bayfront Bungalow has been by far the most disappointing experience. In the description it says there is a dishwasher(and also in small print it does state that amenities are subject to change w/o notice). I have never stayed in a rental without a dishwasher nor would I rent one having a family of 4 and being in a pandemic. We are on vacation for 5 days and doing dishes by hand is not relaxing. When I went to pre-wash the dishes we planned on using the cups had smudged fingerprints and I turned over a dinner plate to find crusted food. GROSS!!! There were also sugar ants in the kitchen.

Heat was difficult to control as they are electric wall units. The washer and dryer was in a shed outside of the home under the carport.

The window sill in the living room had some sort o water intrusion and had standing water on it and the window frame had black mold(we took pics).

The furniture was so broken down that for the first two nights my husband and I laid in bed(which was also advertised as a queen but measured 56”, closer to a full size) to watch tv because it was so uncomfortable on the couch and chairs.

When I called upon arrival to ask if we could switch houses after realizing there was no dishwasher, Shannon who answered the phone told me that would not be possible. My husband called later that evening to see if anything could be done and was told by Courtney that we could cancel and re-book(cancelling at this point simply forfeits your payment). We did end up leaving a day early because this was not a very enjoyable experience.

The cherry on top of this is that the house across the street from us was having the outside of their house painted by being sprayed and overspray got on our car costing us $400 to take it to a body shop to have it removed.

This home and our lack of customer service has been so very disappointing. I wrote a review on their website and waited a week to see if they posted it and they have not. I have always referred my friends and family to rent from Meredith. A good friend of mine is now planning on their annual family coast trips through Meredith. I’m a hairdresser and own my own business in PDX and have always raved about the great dog friendly homes Meredith had to offer. I don’t think I’ll be doing that any longer...

I have to sincerely apologize on this. I will be reaching out to you to discuss this situation. I pulled up your reservation and there are no calls or notes regarding any other issue than the dishwasher. There were only two recorded calls: one asking to move to another home because there was no dishwasher (an amenity not offered in this home) and the second, asking for extra dish soap. At the time, we had no available homes to move you to and typically would not move a guest due to lack of an amenity that was not offered originally. The homeowner would lose the rental income and the cleaning staff has to do double duty. We were unaware of any other issue in the home. We are always available to run over and make every effort to rectify issues that may arise. I thank you for your review that provides a different perspective on the situation.

Whale of a view disappointed

After repeated cancelled trips due to covid and fires we were able to escape to the beach. Rented a whale of a view in south beach. The only good review I can give it was the view. Old outdated furniture, blankets old and not on the beds, pillows stained and old. The bedroom that had a bathroom was laughable. Walmart quality towels. One towel in the kitchen, no wash rags, no dishwasher soap. Construction next door was noisy all day..my husband is entering hospice and peace and quite while trying to listen to the ocean was difficult through the construction noise.
We have rented from Meredith numerous times but this rental was such a disappointment. A long awaited reunion with family was so disappointing for the lack of quality for the price.

Oh Judy, I am so sorry. We really do strive for excellence and its apparent we really missed the mark here. This is the first it was brought to our attention that the home was outdated to the point of discomfort. A dated look in a home can be seen in the listing pictures but the items you describe are not ok with our standards. Dated but comfortable and cozy are acceptable and reflected in the cost. Dated and rundown or uncomfortable is not ok. Our Owner Relations agent that is assigned to this home has ordered a full property review with the owner to discuss updates, including all new linens.
Additionally, our Guest Relations manager left you a message just yesterday to discuss compensation. When you have time, please call our office. We really do want to make this right. Thank you for your review, as this is how we improve.

Absolutely the worst booking experience…

Absolutely the worst booking experience ever. WHAT A COMPLETE JOKE!

We received less than 48 hours notice that they cancelled our rental. We have family flying in from all over the country for a birthday party and Meredith Rentals response was - yeah, sorry. Really... you’re sorry? We book months in advance and you cancel 48 hours before we’re scheduled to arrive? AND YOU’RE SORRY? Really, wow. Thanks. 🙄

Meredith Rentals provided no other options. They made no attempt to make this right. They did not attempt to try and assist us with finding another location to stay at.

HOW IS THIS PLACE STILL IN BUSINESS?

Save your time and book through VRBO and Home Away. This place is an absolute joke.

Traveled for business..

Traveled for business. So much better renting a home than a room! Adorable home, spotless and comfy with stunning ocean views. All for about the same price as a hotel. Will book all my business and leisure trips with Meredith Lodging from now on!

Horrible experience with Meredith Lodging

To say that Meredith Jordan Oksenholt's Meredith Lodging provides poor service is actually a compliment. We recently spent $3000 renting a Meredith property for 4-days. It was a trip into hell. From a non-working washer (needed at the beach) to faulty plumbing, from hourly calls threating to evict our family for our barking dogs (we were going to lodge a complaint about barking dogs in the neighborhood but decided that the area owners of those dogs would keep them under control (which they did) to a rent-an-actor posing as "local security" being sent to our door at 9:30 at night (by Meredith Lodging Lincoln City) to threaten to evict us and have the local sheriff remove us from the premises because we had 5-cars instead of 4 in the parking area. Lincoln County and the town of Neskowin (where our rental home was) state that renters may have a maximum of 6-cars at any one location. The Lincoln County Sheriffs office put a stop to the fake police officer but the damage to our family, friends and, quite honestly, the remainder of our Labor Day vacation was irreparably damaged. Meredith's Lincoln City office even changed the Meredith website during one of the phone conversations to reflect one of the "contract stipulations" they had previously stated was on the website. This run in with Meredith caused frustration, mental stress, and hung a very large cloud over our four-day stay. We have rented rooms in hotels, motels, air b&b's all over the U.S. and in several countries and have never experienced such shoddy service, facilities, and dealt with such rental thugs. MEREDITH LODGING IS A VERY BAD COMPANY.

Hello Norm & Brenda, thank you for reaching out on this. We realize how important a vacation is. We work hard to provide the best experience possible for all guests – and that does mean that certain rules need to be followed. This allows us to continue to rent properties out. The property that you stayed in is actually located in Tillamook County – not Lincoln County. It is true that Lincoln County would not care about what happens in the neighboring county as it is not their jurisdiction. The town of Neskowin does have rules pertaining to vacation rentals as it is governed by Tillamook county, which does have rules in place for each property (including the one you stayed in). To qualify to be a vacation rental, you must have a rental license. Occupancy and parking limitations are part of the licensing procedure. It is true that some rules apply to the vacation rentals and not to full-time or long-term rental properties.

Staff were notified by a neighbor about a barking dog during the night, excessive noise, as well as 6 vehicles and more than 18 people. This property only allows 4 vehicles and 10 people, as noted in the rental agreement you signed. In reviewing the reservation information, you submitted 4 adults and 4 children. Occupancy and parking limitations apply 24/7. Staff attempted to call multiple times to connect on this to see how we could help bring you into compliance. They offered suggestions where additional vehicles could be parked and reminded you of the occupancy limitations that you agreed to under the rental contract. Unfortunately, after our staff were berated and our phone number was blocked, we had to send out security.

We work with a regional security company to provide drive by service to help with parking, noise and occupancy. The security staff will connect with renters to find a way to solve situations so they do not become bigger problems (neighbors calling in complaints, police being called out, etc.). Most hotels, vacation properties, and resorts all have security for these same reasons. While, in your case, an eviction was on the radar, staff and security still wanted to try and work with your group and were hoping that they had possibly just been communicating with the wrong people.

When security showed up, and asked to speak to the reservation holder, they were met with incredible hostility. This is unfortunate as they were, again, just trying to solve the parking and occupancy issue. The security individual remained calm and waited until they were able to effectively communicate with a sober individual. Eventually, compliance was gained.

We are very sorry to hear that the stay was a poor experience. We work hard to communicate rules that are in place and assist guests with how to best navigate any potential issues. We work with property owners, guests, neighbors and local municipalities to create a location and environment that is healthy and respectful of all. When simple rules are not followed, and staff are treated poorly, it makes it very difficult. We hope that you are again able to take a vacation with your family and friends, but hopefully, next time, to a place that accommodates that correct number of people and cars.

There's a huge fire coming our way, told we should evacuate by the city and Meredith Lodging is giving us a real hard time about any refund and or credit. Later, after talking to a representative on the phone, only a 50% credit for a future stay. At first, they didn't want to give us a thing!!!!

Hi, As you did not leave your name & haven't responded to my request for your reservation details, I cannot look you up to see who told you such a thing. We are absolutely crediting those that cannot come due to the fires! If the home you are supposed to stay in or the area where you live is affected by fires, and certainly, if we cancelled your reservation due to the evacuation order, then you would absolutely not be expected to forfeit your money.

I wasn't able to give a lower rating, or I would have.

We canceled owing to Covid travel restrictions, with nearly 3 months notice.

They kept 75% of the $190 we had paid up front.

Ie we got back a check for $46.

THIEVERY! DON'T EVER BOOK ANYTHING THAT THESE GUYS RUN!

Follow up-after posting my first review, I got an utterly farcical response that 'we only keep 30%'.

Rating now below 0!

Would you please provide your reservation details so I can look into this? This doesn't make sense to me. Who ever you worked with may not have handled this correctly. We were rebooking travellers to other dates, refunding in full those whose reservations were cancelled due to shut downs, or even providing credits for a future stay for those that want to come but needed to figure out new dates. However, it says here that you gave us 3 months notice, which seems that this would not have been a Covid cancellation as no one knows whether travel restrictions would still be in place anywhere 3 months in advance. Additionally, our standard (non Covid) cancellation policy, was only 30%. Please, reach out with details so I can correct this. Thank you.

We stayed at Green Unit in Waldport

We stayed at Green Unit in Waldport. The house is unique but not clean. There was a mouse trap with old cheese like product on the hearth hidden by the fireplace screen. We didn’t know it was there until it snapped on my toddler grandchild’s thumb. I called Meredith Lodging the day of this incident and was told a manager would call me. I waited 2 days. No call. I called again today and was told a manager would call me today. No call. In addition to the mouse traps (we found three, all set and ready to spring), we also found centipedes on the ceilings in the downstairs bedroom and in the light fixture. We also saw two upstairs, and one in the washer. We took pictures of the mouse traps and centipede.
They did fix the fridge while we were there. It was not getting cold. After the fridge was fixed I noticed the light bulbs in the fridge hung loose with the wiring exposed.There was a pair of women’s underwear and a sock in the den sofa.
It is a shame I can’t recommend this house. The location was great. The house is a nice size for extended family vacations. Also the website description said the beds were queen and twins. There is one queen, 3 doubles and 3 twins. We won’t be using Meredith Lodging for future family vacations I cannot recommend the company or this rental.

The office is closed now due to the fire evacuation and loss of power on the Coast so our manager will likely not reach you today either. I am working from home in another location. I cannot begin to apologize enough for the issues you encountered in the home. Your poor grandson!! I feel awful! I have made up a work order and have requested a full property review. We intend to take care of each item and give this home the love it deserves. I do have an email on the account that I will contact you directly regarding compensating your family. Disappointing!

Our experience with Meredith Lodging was so disappointing. We planned two separate vacations. Two days before our first rental, I received a message that they were cancelling out stay because the home owners removed the property with their agency. They offered no alternative which left us in a bind. Although frustrating (especially because they seemed unapologetic), I figured it was a fluke and still looked forward to our next stay. Our next stay wasn’t cancelled but when we arrived the hot tub was broken (it was ice cold) along with a few other things that didn’t work in the house. We called immediately about the hot tub because it was a big reason we rented the house. The person we spoke with said that it was reported broken a couple of days prior and they would give us an update. There was no update. To make a long story short, in the 5 days that we stayed there and after multiple phone calls, no one even came to the house to look at it. Again, Meredith lodging seemed disinterested in trying to resolve the issue or offer any compensation. I even asked to speak with a manager on multiple occasions due to our back to back disappointing experiences and was told by the rep that she didn’t have a manager. It felt as though this agency has no interest in customer satisfaction after they have your money. There are so many other beautiful properties and my recommendation would be to find a different company to rent through.

Meredith Lodging....yes I spoke to several agents. After multiple phone calls, I guess I got lucky and one of the “leads” happened to answer (and was pleasant...I wish I could’ve spoken to her from the beginning) and I was given a partial refund after I explained everything.

Terrible

The house we rented was terrible, tons of broken items and things were not as pictured or promised. Worst part about it was the rental company Meredith was horrible about responding to any pleas for help. I have written extensive complaints and heard nothing from anyone. Dishwasher, fireplace, A/C was not working. Pillows were blood stained and didn’t have pillow cases on. Dishes in the cupboard were dirty. Faucet broke. Hot tub brown water. Windows broken. Walls scratched with wood hanging off. Cob webs everywhere. Dust bunnies all over ceiling fan. Nothing clean. Lots of broken items and no one to answer or fix the problem. Awful company. Do not use them.

No way we never have not wanted a person to come fix the dishwasher. That was the worst to have to wash and dry every single dish for 16 people
For every meal. We told whoever we talked to that we wanted that fixed above anything else.
And yes you did speak to my husband and refunded the cleaning fee for a house that wasn’t clean sure, but we were driving home and not in a place to speak for a prolonged time. Of course with all the other problems we incurred more should have been done. I’ve sent several emails to Meredith lodging alone with pictures and never heard back! I feel it’s important to know about every problem we had while we were there and for someone to at least reply to my concerns. Specifically that we could hardly get ahold of anyone in a timely manner while we were there. Thanks for the reply.

I have to say, I am a bit confused. I know you ran into several issues at the home, that you NEVER should have had to deal with. I know this because you reached out to me on Facebook while you were there. And I am so sorry this happened. I worked with a Guest Service agent right away to get you assistance. She offered to send maintenance over, which you declined (and I totally understand - many people do not want to be disturbed during their vacation). We refunded your hot tub fees, your cleaning fees, some extras, and then provided a Future Stay Credit, all before you had checked out. It was a resolution that Brent seemed happy with at the time. I see multiple calls and texts in the system during your stay, but there are no calls after your check out more than two weeks ago. And there are more items listed in this review than you mentioned during your stay. I am so sorry that you did not feel we resolved this to your satisfaction. We never want our guests to leave feeling this way. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to call our office at your convenience. Again, I do apologize. We really do not want you unhappy.

Two bad experences

We have had two experiences with Meredith Lodging and both turned out to be very disappointing. We rented a vacation rental house a year in advance only to receive an email a month or so before we were to go to tell us the house was not available to us. We were able to find another but had to research it ourselves and change our dates. Due to the COVID-19 and family situation, we have had to cancel our reservation for October. BEWARE.....they are not the least bit sympathetic to the situation and have no compassion for this sad times....I asked to speak to the manager and she wouldn't talk to me passing messages on to her worker. Bottom line we are getting charged $230 for not being able to go on vacation! Heartbreaking when so many are showing kindness during this time and they are not.

I was able to look up your last two reservations, including the one from last year. We do have a cancellation policy in place that helps protect our homeowners from last minute cancellations and the loss of income that may occur. As a repeat renter (which we love, by the way), you would have signed the rental agreement each time accepting the policy in advance. Of course, we understand these are different times and it sounds like you are making a personal choice not to travel. Currently, we have not made exceptions based on personal choice. Renter Beware

UPDATE......Meredith Lodging has reached out to us with a sincere apology and assured us that these issues would be rectified. They offered us compensation for our troubles. We will rent from Meredith again in the future.

We paid top dollar for the Moonstruck beach house near Roads End in Lincoln City. The house is right on the beach with amazing views. It is very large, sleeps a lot of people and has great beach access. However we had several issues from the moment we tried to check in. The electronic door code did not work, had to call and troubleshoot the problem. The hot tub was not working. A maintenance guy showed up to the house the first night. He said it was quite dirty and needed to be drained, cleaned and filled again. After performing the maintenance, he turned the power back on but the hot tub did not work, no power to it. He could not figure out what the problem was. We were then told someone would be out the next day to fix it but no one showed up. It was never fixed, my family was looking forward to the hot tub, that is why we booked this house. The hot tub overlooks the ocean, it is the first photo you see when searching for this property, so obviously it is a major amenity of the house. Not having a working hot tub really put a damper on our trip especially with how much we paid. One night the smoke detectors started alarming for about 20-30 seconds every couple hours. I checked the entire house for smoke or fire, none was found and the fact that they stopped alarming after a short time seemed there was a malfunction. This was not the normal low battery alarm, this was a full alert with a voice shouting "FIRE FIRE FIRE". I called Meredith again, they were apologetic and said someone would be out the next morning to take a look but again no one showed up. Finally at 3am after the smoke alarms continued to sound and kept our whole family up, I started taking them off the wall and ceiling and found one in a back bedroom to be faulty. I disarmed it and reinstalled the rest. My family only got a few hours of sleep that night, my kids didn't want to sleep there any more for fear of the house burning down. We were about to pack up and head home because of it. Another night I went to turn on the BBQ but the rusted propane bottle was empty and the BBQ would not light. One of the main large windows at the dining table has a broken shade. It would not go up or down. Luckily we were able to drape it up out of the way so we could enjoy the view. The freezer in the kitchen was not making ice. The kitchen hand soap pump was empty. There was a faint smell of urine and old house smell in parts of the house. It was not very clean, there were chip crumbs on a table downstairs, a dirty flosser on the floor, underwear and garbage outside the house. The two outside garage bins were overflowing. It was clear they had not been picked up for awhile. Luckily it was garbage day the second day we were there. I rolled them to the street and they were emptied.

If I could give a negative 0 I would. Worst place to ever rent from. We were told someone would come service our hot tub but no one ever came. The carpet were dirty. Heard let any towels. They were alway telling me we understand your frustration but still did nothing. I will never rent from this people again unacceptable customers service. I still have not heard back from them. I will call ever day till someone makes its right.
