A cozy little cabin in the woods

Wallace Cottage was a cozy little cabin in the woods. Customer service attentive when needed. A little more attention to detail to receive 5 stars for the price! Screens on all upstairs windows for ventilation. Full propane tank for grill. Unclog bathroom sink. Attention to outdoor surroundings/yard. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Beachcombers Paradise (MCA 663)

We stayed at "Beachcombers Paradise (MCA 663)" in Manzanita, Oregon for a week in April 2023. This is a fantastic place to stay. It's half a block from the beach, so we could take the dog out there 2 or 3 times a day easily, for a nice tired pooch. Having a hose and sprayer right next to the front door is a big win for dousing the sandy dog, instead of tracking it all into the house.

It's also just a few blocks from town, so we could quickly and easily walk anywhere any time. We cook most meals, so we really appreciated the fully stocked kitchen. Also handy having laundry in the unit directly.

Overall our family loved our stay in Manzanita at Beachcomber's Paradise, and we had a great time.

Check the Better Business Bureau…

Check the Better Business Bureau reviews before renting from this company. There are a staggering number of disputes against this company....and for good reason. They have a system where their contract basically says "we don't have to provide the service you paid for, because our contract says so". So, no matter how outrageous their reasons are for not providing the service, they will not refund you and they will keep referring you to their contract. Unless you are an attorney, you may not see their contract for what it is. Cover for unethical and deceptive practice.

Typically we have a great experience…

Typically we have a great experience with Meredith Lodging, but not this time. Our reservation was canceled due to property repairs, but Meredith only attempted to call me (wrong number) and didn't try emailing. I received a reservation confirmation 6 days prior to our stay, and only received a cancelation notice via email 2 hours prior to check in. Our money was refunded, but we were stuck without a place to stay. Very disappointed!!

We reviewed the correspondence attached to your reservation, and do see that we had to cancel your reservation due to unforeseen property repairs. It appears we may not have had your correct contact information on file, as we were not able to reach you via phone. We did send two emails to the email address on file on June 8th regarding this cancellation. We listened to the call, and you had mentioned that you did not receive these emails - perhaps they went to spam. We did try to find you another home, but unfortunately nothing comparable was available, and a full refund was issued. We understand this was not an ideal outcome, as you were celebrating your daughter's birthday, but do hope VRBO was able to help you find another home to celebrate. We value your booking, and do hope we have an opportunity to provide you with a better overall experience in the future.

The house was large enough for 10 people

The house was large enough for our family (ladies only). The view was spectacular and enjoyed by all. The mattresses were amazing and we all slept well
But we found that the house needs some updating and repairs: one stuffed chair had broken legs, broken picnic table and many plates were chipped and there was a nice lovely empty bowl on the dining room table but it was chipped too. In one bedroom there was makeup left on a pillow case so you wonder if the sheets were clean. Also couldn’t find a hair dryer, pot holders or black pepper.
When paying for cleaning why did we have to start a load of laundry and run the dishwasher?

Be very cautious renting from Meredith Lodging.

My mom and I stayed in the Nantucket Inn unit #1 this last weekend and had a very unpleasant stay to say the least. First of all, they let us know last minute that our hot tub was out of commission. secondly, as I walked through the house I immediately noticed rust on the curtain rods, like a lot of rust. There are no curtains in the kitchen so everyone on the beach can look through at whatever you're doing in the kitchen along with the neighbors. The furniture was torn and falling apart. You could not even use the kitchen door to get outside on the porch. The WORST part was during our first day there the ceiling had significant water damage and was leaking so bad that when we came back from dinner our kitchen floor was flooded. I called Meredith lodging and got ZERO help and was told the maintenance guy would be right over. The Maintenance guy showed up later the next day to bring us a bucket and said that the property owners have "unsuccessfully" fixed this issue. Why would you actively have guests staying in a place that is clearly falling apart and unsafe for people to stay in and then not attend to the issue at all? If this has been an ongoing problem, why were we not informed of this and accommodated? The ONLY decent part of this property was the view, otherwise I will never rent this place or from Meredith lodging ever again. I still have yet to speak to a manager and get a refund as we spent over $1000 to stay in a place that is literally falling apart. I am very unsatisfied and will never recommend this company or property to anyone. They clearly do not care about their property or guests, they only want your money. Please choose wisely and make sure there is no issues with your rental before staying. These people need to be shut down. I have videos and pictures of these concerns so management can't deny their faults. Take responsibility for your business and property.

It can take several business days to post. I do not recommend

arrived just before 4pm and our space was parked in by cleaners. Called the main office and they couldn’t get a hold of the cleaners but called back after we were suppose to check in and said the cleaners had finished the room a long time ago…yeah NO. They were in the room when we pulled up. Unloaded the car and tried to get in, no key in the lockbox. The door was open though and ten minutes we got inside the cleaners said they needed to get us a key because the other cleaner had taken it. Waited over a half hour to get our key so we could go eat. The furniture was so u comfortable. Zero beach access because of erosion that’s been like that forever. More than a mile to get to the beach safely. THIS IS NOT A HOUSE AS DEPICTED. This is a townhouse and you’ll get to listen to people bang around all night.

Worse experience ever!!

Worse experience ever!!! Pipes froze and company didn’t come to fix, stuck without water so had to leave early. They’ve ignored all communications and refused a proper refund. I’m sorry but no way I want a voucher for future stay when they could care less about their customers. MT. Hood office completely dropped the ball on handling this and the manager Cari needs a different position since she won’t talk to the clients. I would NEVER recommend this company. Go with Air B&B, they stand behind their homes and if there’s an issue are quick to fix. Meredith Lodging needs to stand behind their homes and not ghost the customer when there is an issue.
You say you’ve e been in contact with the card holder but in actuality you refuse to discuss with an actual person and ignore all calls to them. Deny our request for a PROPER refund and will only refund the day we left early and NOT the days we were promised a resolution but was without a kitchen.
Why would I ever want to use this company again? Meredith Lodging has essentially stolen our money. We paid for a fully working cabin and received one with a non functioning kitchen. Instead of (A) getting maintenance to fix it or (B) moving us to another cabin with a working kitchen you’ve decided to do non of those and ignore communication for weeks and then refuse to refund for days without a kitchen. That’s stealing!! Instead of platitudes how about you change you policy and respond to customers and refund when the cabin is faulty and management won’t do anything!

Evacuated. Need I say more??? Oh don't worry....I will.

We were evacuated on night two or our two-night weekend stay due to a carbon monoxide alarm. We had to call the fire department at 9:00pm on Saturday night and were advised to evacuate after they were unable to identify the source of the leak, and actually found out that one of the firefighters on the scene had been at the property just one month prior for the exact same alarm. The firefighters advised that carbon monoxide can be dangerous at levels of 25 ppm, and their tools were reading OVER 90 ppm after we had aired out the house for well over an hour (in freezing temps). We were told if we wanted to stay at the lodge, we needed to open all the windows and doors all night long, set up alarm clocks throughout the night to make sure we woke up, and to routinely check on everyone else in the rental to make sure they woke up. If that's not a ringing endorsement to leave ASAP, I don't know what is...
Throughout this timeline, we called the after hours line 7 times to reach the property management company to report the emergency, and were eventually relocated to a different rental a half an hour away and got settled by 11:30pm/midnight. I want to give credit where credit is due (there's not much here!) to the agents I was able to speak with that night, because at least they were sympathetic.
As frightening as the experience of evacuating itself was, it pales in comparison to the abhorrent customer service I've received when trying to get a decent refund. This property is not cheap, and given the circumstances of the situation, would have expected AT LEAST at 50% refund given we were not able to stay at this property for 50% of our reservation, not even taking into account the "inconvenience" of being exposed to a lethal poison at dangerous levels for an extended period of time. Considering this issue happened just weeks earlier--even though the representative I was able to speak to tried to defend themselves saying they had contractors out to fix the issue after the first reported instance--I think a full refund is completely deserved since the "fix" was obviously completely ineffective. But would have been satisfied getting just 50% back for the disruption to our plans and dangerous nature of the situation.
The initial refund offered was a mere 14%, which I disputed as it was completely unacceptable. I then received a vague follow-up that they'd add a couple extra hundred bucks to the refund (bringing it up to just 23%) and that was the "final amount" and that was that. I replied asking to speak to someone about how this amount was determined as it seemed completely arbitrary, and heard nothing for 10 full days...I emailed, called, submitted my feedback survey and CRICKETS. I received one final response with the receipt for the 23% refund, and so now I'm here to at least publicly document how poorly we've been treated as customers for a vacation rental.
The situation was absolutely no fault of our own and comes down to serious negligence by the property managers and their hired contractors to resolve this issue properly the first time, and feel that we are entitled to an appropriate reimbursement as this was a second offense of an extremely dangerous situation. I would implore Meredith Lodging/Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals to take this listing off the market until the issue is COMPLETELY resolved, and would advise anyone looking for a rental up in Government Camp to seek out other options by any means necessary.

We stayed at one of their properties in…

We stayed at one of their properties in Mt Hood and had a pretty nightmare experience.

We had to evacuate the house at 9:30 PM because the Carbon Monoxide alarm was going off. The fire department showed up 45 minutes later to scan the house and recommended we not stay at the house.

The worst part of this was that this was the second time it happened at this property in a month. The fireman were asking the property owner if any steps had been taken since the last time.

Anyway, they found two other properties for our large group to move to. Birthday party ruined. Then, they only refunded 23% of the booking despite their negligence.

Outside of that, the house was in pretty below average condition. The oven temperature setting tool was broken. Our shower temperature knob was ripped in half. There was a huge crack in the ceiling. And the water temperatures in the showers was either freezing or a burning hot...no in between.

Hubbert Hideaway is very welcoming.

Hubbert Hideaway in Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast is very welcoming. Sadly, we didn't get to experience the amenities like the hot tub and pool tables, but just sitting by the fireplace, taking in the Pacific Ocean with friends and family was perfect. The location is nice, and the home came stocked with utensils, cookware, shampoo, and towels if we needed any. Our family looks forward to our next visit at Hubbert Hideaway very soon. The location was great for my friend’s…

The location was great for my friend’s birthday celebration in Leavenworth, however there was no hot water for our morning showers, which was a miserable experience and a huge disappointment. We stayed in the Valhalla condo for two nights in late-February, when outdoor temps were 17-22 degrees, and it would have been wonderful to start the day off with a nice hot shower. There are three side-by-side condos on the same floor, all managed by Meredith Lodging. It appears they all share one hot water heater that doesn’t have adequate capacity to supply enough hot water for all three occupied units! Considering I paid $250 per night, I was very displeased. It felt like we were staying in a budget hostel. I left a message for the owners and they never responded.

Please improve

Bear Lodge (12) at Big Bear Lake. Feb 22-24. Tim Nuqui
- Some pillows smelled like old sweat.
- Master bath has a huge window with no blinds or a curtain so people outside can almost watch you shower
- The rear burners on the electric stove barely heats up.
- As a winter vacation destination, the house should come with at least a snow shovel if management will not help to dig the vehicles out of the snowed-in drive way. The neighbors had to help after seeing us use a sled to move snow all over our cars.
- The office opens at 8 am but no one answers the phone.
- Day 2 of our reservation, the winter storm plus blizzard was happening.
We did not want to risk traveling especially with little kids. Yes we could've not proceeded with the trip and forfeit our money but the point was, we didnt expect the weather to be that bad. I find it understandable that we were not allowed to extend our stay due to another guest arriving. However, a lady on the phone from the office promised us that they were going to look out for us and help us move into another property should the weather worsen...when the time came, all I got was "Sorry, we got nothing available for you. Try to drive safe out there..." ...that was colder than the weather, but i guess it's just business sooo....take that one however you want.
All in all, nice property. Nicer than management for sure.

If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would. This is a horrible company. A full on scam. We booked a weekend trip to big bear. They emailed and canceled last minute claiming the house was unusable due to an "emergency". We had to book. different cabin the night before we left for our trip. When we tried to get a refund they claimed the house was useable and that they had tried to contact us. Nobody tried to contact us. We had to contact the site we rented from (airbnb) to try and sort this out and get our 1200 dollars back. Airbnb then contacted Meredith Lodging to see what the deal was. Meredith Lodging then claimed that we stayed in the house. We checked into the cabin. And they even claimed that they checked up on us during the trip and that we said everything was good. How they even have the audacity amazes me. Once we proved to airbnb that we were in fact staying in a different cabin (because Meredith Lodging canceled our reservations with them), and sent them the countless bad reviews that this has happened to other people too, we got out money back from Meredith Lodging. Whoever is reading this, stay away from this company. And if you are reading this and you work for Meredith Lodging, know that I despise you.

We do see that we did try to call the number on file numerous times (the number goes to an Ed Dominick), but never received a call back or a reply to our texts. We are happy to provide a screenshot of the call log associated with your reservation. We understand this situation has been frustrating, and complied with Airbnb resulting in a full refund being issued.
