With living in Edinburgh and being impressed with the reviews on the new Volvo EX60 P12 Ultra, i decided to place an order through John Clark Volvo.
From the very start the customer service and correspondence was very poor. Had a chat when the General manager called and decided I would carry on with the process even when the experience had been poor upto that point. Three weeks later having submitted everything asked for with no acknowledgement from my last 2 emails all of a sudden the order has been cancelled without any reasoning as to why. If this is the level of service whilst trying to buy a car thank goodness its cancelled. Take my business elsewhere never to go next to a John Clark dealership again.

I purchased my Volvo EX30 Performance from John Clark Volvo Edinburgh two years ago, and the experience has been flawless from day one. Jen created a truly memorable handover experience, and the post-purchase care has been second to none. Vyvette could not be more welcoming and accommodating, and the entire service team (from our recent service) is incredibly friendly and helpful.

The showroom itself is a fantastic environment - it’s a great sign of their standards that they are proud to show off their immaculate service workshop through full-height window walls. Having experienced many car dealerships over the years, spanning both cheaper and far more expensive brands, John Clark Volvo Edinburgh stands in a genuine league of its own.

Non existent customer service, ignoring emails regarding a car under warranty

Very poor salesman done his best to clinch the deal we were so close then the manager stepped in and the deal fell through all because he wouldn't change a set of rear brake pads and a rear tyre. Unbelievable

Had a Test drive booked at Volvo in Newbridge, Spoke to a man named Paul on the phone and explained that I was looking for a car for my family as I have a baby due in 3 months so would like to see what it’s like to live with and stuff as I’ve never had a hybrid before. Got me all booked in for today (29/5/26) and I arrived to collect the car to drive for two days to be told that nothing has been booked on the system and they don’t actually offer 48 hour test drives, What a massive waste of time and I have wanted a Volvo for the last 3 years and will now be looking elsewhere.

Purchased a used 2021 £25k Volvo.
I purchased the car in the winter time and after a couple of months, in the sun, I started to notice hologram type marks on the paintwork. When I spoke to a professional he informed me that this was buffer trails from a polish job that was not completed with the finishing compound polish, probably in preparation for sale (I had not had this car cleaned during those couple of months and therefore it had to be from the car sales).
When I informed John Clark Volvo, the just said "we would not be looking to undertake or contribute towards any further polishing work"
That is the level of service you can expect after dropping £25k

Drove from fife to Newbridge today to look at the mini countryman awd at volvo sight they had in there sale with a £1000 off only to find out sale has ended and sales person not interested in helping with price what a waste of time and money wanting us to pay over the book price for the car then a High apr

By today’s visit - pleasant lady at reception BUT too much interrogation to establish what I wanted to view and why I wanted to look at the car.

I am only here for a look as it’s show room, I’m not here to trade in or buy today. I must have time to make my mind up.

No disabled parking or the cars in disabled bays are not displaying a blue badge . I appreciate it’s busy but if you can’t accommodate disabled customers then I will be looking further a field

A longish wait (15mins) to see a sales advisor and the car I wish to look at.

Had excellent service here with Aaron Scott and Vyvette Gentleman - from entering the showroom to leaving with my new XC40. Courteous, professional, knowledgeable. The Showroom is immaculate and exudes calm. No pressure from anywhere or anyone - Aaron just answered all our questions and hand held throughout the sale. 10/10 for both Aaron and Yvette. Yvette is your first point of contact when you arrive - she is perfectly suited to her role. Friendly and welcoming and matched us perfectly with Aaron. We have taken delivery of our new car and I could not be more pleased with the service we received from start to finish.

Purchase experience was totally frustrating, bordering on incompetence, at each stage of the process. Worst of all was only being told that the vehicle had 1 key after becoming legal owner. Manager apologised, offered goodwill compensation, and prompt resolution. In reality it took over 8 weeks to finally get closure, with our follow up emails and phone calls repeatedly ignored. Car is great - just wish we’d bought it somewhere else.

Arranged to view a used car at Volvo Edinburgh and arrived to view the car. Viewed and test drove the car and paid a £99 deposit to “secure” the car. This all happened around midday. Then got a call at 6pm to tell me that the car had been sold to someone else. Pitiful excuse then ensued. Very poor customer service in my opinion.

Evening another breakdown in the vw cars very lumpy home. AA advised the glow plug is covered by warranty from emach. Must be few parts left to go on the the car is one positive we have nearly rebuilt the car in under a year! I've serviced the car February 25 and November serviced and motd. The cars been pampered since I bought though i regret not sticking with my usual volvo. I'd love to get 8 weeks in a car without a issue id be impressed. Not even owner a year. It's had water pump.timing kit. Gearbox ripped apart crank.pulleys heating modules failed. Not a good advert for vw. At all can I escalate this with vw and also the John clark branch who went very quiet the last visit and reluctantly refused to share any pre sales checks of the car or discuss how it passed a mot or was apparently serviced pre sale. Yet the cars falling apart. It's driven soft and serviced twice in a year. Motd 3 months early. Im doing my part. Plus happy to sell the car and take the payments but there's a clear lack of presale car checks id love to see the 150 point pre sale car check that was done on mine. Two tyres needed replaced at my cost you replaced one you done the disc on rear on warranty unheard of they were so bad. I changed the front. Water pump failed gearbox failed timing chain went. Crank pull went. Heating module and fans module went. Refuse to acknowledge the clear issue with the suspension on the front from day of sale with the head tech pretending to be deaf rather than deal with it. John clark have a fantastic reputation and this experience had been by far the worst yet in car sales.

Again last night the cars glow plugs went at a cost of 180 and John clark are so bad to deal with im actually going to pay for this repair myself elsewhere even though it's warranty work. The service over the phone from thr vw specialist is rotten and Newbridge are great until you have signed and paid then your on your own. Multiple emails and messages through their website communications went dry. 11 months owned off the road 3 to 4 months of that. And its cost me a few quid already and multiple days off work to be treated like crap be their service dept and made to feel like a beggar when asking for my extended warranty to cover standard covered parts. 🙃

Volvo XC60 Swimming in water under footwells through the panoramic sunroof

I bought what i thought was a quality, high specification Volvo from John Clarks Volvo Edinburgh in May last year(only had vehicle 6/7 months.

I have had 3 problems with this vehicle and i have now lost confidence in Volvo cars.

I returned from a 2 week stint at work to find heavy condensation inside my Volvo which turned out to be water ingress through the sunroof cassette, water was found all the way front to rear under the carpets, and guess what, the Volvo Selekt warranty does not cover the failed cassette which sits under the sunroof unit.

I paid John Clarks Edinburgh full price, paid for accessories and bought the 2 year service plan.

I went to a dealership thinking i would get at least 12 months cost free motoring, yet i have just had to pay in excess of 1000GBP to get it fixed. The sales manager at John Clarkes sent an e mail saying the sunroof would have been checked prior to delivery, however the failed cassette is not visible without removal of the sunroof assembly, so there is no chance the service guys could check the cassette.

I have done nothing to cause water ingress inside my Volvo but i have to foot the bill!!!

I asked John Clarks if they would assist with this issue, however the sales manager Graham gave me the response i thought i would get....NO HELP.

If your thinking of buying a Volvo....think twice!!!!

Booked my Volvo in for a service , they couldn’t do any updates on the car because I had a tow bar warning light on and wanted to charge to cancel it , so took the car home cancelled out the warning light rebooked it for its update , updates carried out , following day I got an alert to update the map which I couldn’t do because it’s to big I have to take it to Volvo , phoned JMG Volvo wanted to charge me for updating the map after paying over £500 for a full service avoid this scamming franchise

Very poor - booked a test drive, turned up and they had no idea about it

My brand new Evoque went into the garage after 18days on the road, I found the service from this particular branch (Newbridge) absolutely appalling.
Not only were they dismissive towards me, they failed to keep a reasonable communication in place, couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong with my vehicle but only that I would need to wait until October to get it back due to a delay on parts. This was June.
I eventually got the car back 4wks later again with no explanation, no paperwork of work carried out and quite honestly terrible service.
Two weeks later I received a recall for a EV fault in the car and was a safety issue ( I called to clarify and I’m still waiting on a call back 4wks later) Thankfully, someone else in another branch was able to run my details onto the system and told me the work had already been carried out as this is what the initial issue was.

6 weeks later and the car has broken down again with 3 fault codes and what appears as the initial work not carried out correctly.
I am yet to receive a call for when they are coming to pick up my vehicle today or whether I will have a courtesy car tomorrow for my work.
This has caused me to miss work today and as far as the Newbridge branch are concerned, well I have seen better service given by a toilet attendant.
Absolutely shocking and I absolutely will never recommend!!
I may add also that this is a brand new Range Rover and already had these issues.

Very disappointing trip to Edinburgh. We looked at 2 used Volvos on the forecourt and neither had been valeted. One was smelly and the other had stains on the front passenger seat. The valuation for our car was £1,000 less than WeBuyAnyCar! We won’t be back.

My experience with Hira at John Clark Edinburgh was dismal. He was absolutely uninterested in answering any query and provided false information that the used car which I was interested in was sold and was not available at the dealership. I took his word and when checked online later that day, it was never reserved. He could hardly list down the difference in specs between a Plus and an Ultra trim. The whole experience was forgettable and drifted my opinion from buying a Volvo.

Do not buy a car from John Clark Volvo Edinburgh. I purchased a car and had 6 months of hell. Car repeatedly faulted yet after having every diagnostic check, chats with Volvo, numerous technicians claimed no fault. I didn’t even make it out the car park yet it faulted. They then had my car and my money and still a joke as I waited for another car. At one point it took 2 weeks for a reply from service managers there. Would not recommend or use ever again and complaint going in to ombudsman.

'Award winning customer service' evaporates as soon as they get you into the car. A routine maintenence took 2 days on a 14k mile car with no issues. The dealership claims 'it's not our fault its Volvo's' lol, while Volvo UK puts the blame back on them. Offered a token amount that didn't even cover the out of pocket cost we had for unexpectedly not having the car a second day, much less the inconvenience of the ordeal. Dealership had the audacity to say they did us a favor by not charging for a courtesy car that was certainly not our fault we needed, and the response to the terrible service was to try and get me to prepay for a service plan?? Certainly won't be going back to thisd ealership and may move on from Volvo when the contract is up, which is a shame because we love the car
