Unable to get to or transfer my money at this bank
I have a lot of my money with this bank but due to my experiences with their online banking platform and not being able to access my money in any way I will be leaving the bank. I have tried dozens of times over the past weeks to transfer funds from my account at Heartland Bank with no success. I have tried doing this from multiple devices, my own and a library pc and this has not helped. I fill in feedback notes and emails which get no response. I have sat at my devices for (literally) hours trying over and over to get to my money, which the bank apps clearly show to be there, and have tried many different amounts of money and transferring to various different destinations, all to no avail. The app shows no phone number to phone. I am getting very tired of the program showing me the message which says "something went wrong". Something is definitely wrong.

This is the worse ever bank to bank with. They have been holding the funds of my friends business since November claiming it is under investigation and they cant give a reason why they have been investigating for 90 days. She is at the edge of dieing because she has been unable to live her daily life because the bank has refused to release her money to her. All their staffs don't care and the money is sitting in the account and they have refused to allow her access to her money. Kimberly will soon die because you did not let her get her money from the bank and now heartland bank the worse bank in the world will steal that money for no reason. NEVER NEVER BANK WITH THIS BANK.

But it still hasn't been sorted.
I would strongly recommend not getting finance thru them.
They're absolutely hopeless and cause alot of unnecessary stress.
Total lack of customer service and Mistake to the ATO
Total lack of customer service, and reporting wrong interest to ATO.
I had a joint term deposit with them, and they reported double the interest to the ATO. 100% to my Tax, and 100% to my wife's, instead of 50% to each of us. I now have to prove to the ATO that this is wrong. I have phoned them on 2 occasions, and they said they will send me a statement, 4 weeks in, nothing? I then found a complaints email address, so sent off a complaint asking for help, 2 weeks, Nothing, not even an acknowledgement. Cannot even get a statement off there online banking site. I'm left dealing with the Tax Office, with silence from this mob that created the problem. Stay away, put your money somewhere else. I wish I had read the reviews before I went with them.

Avoid Heartland Bank! I applied for a basic savings account and was informed it was active. I increased my daily limit at my primary bank and transferred a large sum to Heartland. However, the funds didn’t appear overnight or by day four. When I contacted Heartland, they claimed the account was still under review, despite earlier confirmation it was open. I received emails asking for information I’d already provided, raising scam concerns. Even after answering, the account remained inactive. They instructed me to have my bank trace the transfer, only to find the funds were returned due to a rejected transfer. Frustrated by this terrible customer service, I’ve chosen to end my relationship with Heartland Bank.

Don’t understand some of the negative reviews on Heartland bank Australia.I can only go on my experience with them and was very happy.I had a term deposit with them which matured 12 August 2025 and needed money moved to another account at different bank and the same day it matured the funds were in my other bank’s saving account.The thing that people must understand is that we have to make sure we let them know what we need them to do with the funds and it will also help if people use the messaging feature in the online banking.I was more than impressed with the way heartland did everything so smoothly and quickly.I urgently needed the funds and conveyed this through messaging along with details of the other bank’s saving account.I immediately opened and funded a normal savings account with heartland as a form of loyalty but most of all because of the better than competitive interest rate on that saving account. THANKS HEARTLAND for a smooth and trouble free banking experience.

HOW FED UP CAN YOU GET!
I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACCESS MY BANK ACCOUNT FOR WELL OVER A WEEK OR MORE . HEARTLAND HAVE FIDDLED WITH THEIR SYSTEM, AND WHAT USED TO WORK WELL, NO LONGER DOES.
AS MY PASSWORD NO LONGER APPEARS AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I PUT IN MY USER ACCOUNT NUMBER, I ASKED ONLINE FOR A CHANGE OF PASSWORD.
SUPPOSEDLY THEY WOULD SEND ME A TEXT TO ENABLE ME TO DO THIS.
BUT, NO, EVERY TIME I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING TEXT WILL NOT WORK.
TRIED RINGING THEM. PHONES ARE BUSY, AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO OTHER WAY OF CONTACTING THEM.

I only awarded one star as there is nothing lower. Recently tried to open an account online but ran into trouble with the biometric section. I rang Heartland and was assured I could open accounts at a branch. Went to Ashburton branch and was told I had to apply online??
I have over $1000000 to invest but now relalize that this bank is not to be trusted.
Legal Robbery !
Should be shut down. Takes advantage of old people with reverse mortgages. Very quick to put rate up along with OCR but hardly ever puts it down. Has made hundreds of thousands of my mothers house alone. Once you are locked in, very hard to get out of the cycle of robbery - accumulating debt just keeps going up until they own your house. Should be illegal. Terriible customer service - they are only interested in making a profit from you and your bad choices. They dont check documents for correct signature's - eg EPOA or trust signature's - i never signed anything, but they still gave a top up without my authority - and didnt care when i raised it with them.

Happy with Heartland
I have been happy in my dealings with Heartland Bank.
I initially opened a business account and invested a small amount in a term deposit account. Easy process and I heard back from a bank representative within a day of sending an email.
I recently opened a personal account to place funds on savings.
Heartland have better rates than many other banks. I assume it is because of little simplistic things like lack of clearing funds within a short timeframe (mostly overnight clearing with bank to bank), bit more difficult to open up accounts etc.
I am happy with that as all I want to do is place some funds in a savings account to save up for a wedding. We are not talking about a huge amount of money.
At least I feel like my money is secure.

Why Heartland even list their telephone number is beyond me. I have tried to contact them several times and as yet have not had a call answered despite holding for over 30 minutes on several occasions. There call back option is not much better, it takes hours for them to call back.
I am in the process of trying to get a reverse mortgage discharged, and was quoted a mortgage discharged fee of $395 by Anthony, which I paid and had to wait 2 weeks for them to process the discharge and then received an email from a legal firm that Heartland use to do the actual discharge of the mortgage, for another $399. There was no mention this fee from Anthony.
My opinion of Heartland Bank is that they are a total rip off.

Heartland are very very keen to notify you when the interest rates for their savings accounts increase.
But what has disappointed me is:
NO notification at all if the interest rate goes down. So if you are counting on a deposit growing a set amount, you will not know until you look at your balance that the interest rate has decreased.
"Fine print" that is mentioned but not fully explained. eg to get an unforeseen emergency amount out of a 90-day account : I was told a "small fee" would be charged. The small fee was $1200!

The bank's service leaves much to be desired. The loan process is confusing, and you have to search for information for a long time. In principle, they cope with the main thing, but there are many points that could be improved for the convenience of customers.

Poor Service
After my father’s passing we were sorting out the estate and found he had taken out a $40,000 reverse mortgage which had quickly become $70,000 with very high interest.
We decided that we would make payments on it until the house sold.
We live in Australia and tried for 2 days to call but no one answered the phone,email just as bad generic response someone will respond shortly (still never have 3 months later)
Day 3 we got hold of a very rude woman who said she would get someone to call us back, you guesed it, never happened.
Cut a long story short eventually we got to the right person after 8 days.
Because we lived in Australia that said we could not make payments, after saying we would call the banking obsubmin they gave us some wrong information, then eventually the correct information which was very difficult as they wouldn’t use real me which you use for a passport but not with them apparently which would make too much sense I guess.
A NZ based solicitor ended up doing it for us.
